What if we removed damage from supports

And in return gave them better supporting capabilities. Take Soraka for example.

Soraka has poor damage but can heal very fast, she has an aoe silence snare that is good when used correctly and she has a global ult that heals. Her passive is an ambulance. I think if we made all supports this way, removing the damage capabilities and replacing their capabilities with something else would be beneficial for the entire game. How would this work? Take Sona for an example.

Give Sona a new passive and give her current passive to all of her abilities. Her Q will provide smaller amounts of damage with poor scaling however she will have her Q more often and it causes damage reduction to those who are hit by it. Her aura is now constantly up until the next song is played and can be reactivated again after CD is back up. Her heal could be a toggle that sucks mana out of her every second, however will heal every second it is active. The movement speed can be used like a toggle as well, however it could act more like her Q. It can hit anybody and everybody in it's radius and slow them by a percent that actually matters. Her ult stays the same with the exception of lowering the damage and decreasing the CDR by a lot.

I think it would be cool to see this work, the enemy team would want to seriously kill that Nami that keeps bubbling them every 4 seconds or Sona who is buffing the entire team constantly. It would also give supports something to look forward for, in the late and middle game. Not to mention it would solve the problems that continue to nerf supports like Sona and Lulu. (I'm still pretty salty that they destroyed Lulu)

Just a personal input, tell me what you think!

Then think of this hypothetical situation.

Your in a 2v2 fight with your AD carry as Sona

Your AD carry dies, but both enemies have below 100 hp, normally a single Q would take them both down and clean up the fight.

But if your proposed changes go through... The fight is literally lost the second your AD carry dies, and would have no option for the supports to clean up if the situation allows it.

And what happens then? Traditional supports completely vanish and the likes of Zyra Velkoz Lux take over. Forever.

Sona could still do 100 damage, I said smaller amounts of damage. Other champs not meant for supporting would definitely not be picked as much for supporting, mostly because supports are not usually taken for their damage. If you take Vel'koz for his CC then chances are you don't know how to use most other supports that have way better CC.
