Anything in the works for Gangplank?

I loved playing Gangplank back in beta and season one. Critplank with Haunting Guise for magic damage Parrrrley was so much fun. Then it all went downhill.

First Parrrrley got changed to physical damage because of some thematic nonsense (meanwhile, Katarina and her magic damage knives).

Then he got a horrible re-work into a pseudo bruiser. Except that he can't actually go toe-to-toe with most other top-laners.

And I can't tell you how many times his ult has been tweaked, and it is still generally bad.

What is it about champions like this, where they are absolute trash for years? Why are the popular champions constantly getting attention, while the unpopular ones get starved? They're unpopular for good reasons, and just as deserving.
