Mid doesn't seem like he's "gutted" like people are saying.

Doesn't seem that bad to me. Sure he has weaknesses, but every champion does.

I know, I know, "something playrate something something". Well I main Jungle Wukong who has both a lower playrate and a 48% winrate and I don't think he's that bad right now. People are going to say "Malz doesnt play the same way" but his old kit was toxic as hell and was changed for a good reason. Pretty much the same reason why they rework Zilean.

I feel like "low pick rate" really doesnt mean anything and its just a statistic people like to use when its in their favor lol. My main/role has a 1% play rate and that doesn't mean shit really.

Maybe you should just play the champs you want to and not worry about them being the absolute top-tier best pick

Don't worry, if the next set of nerfs on PBE go through you can be sure that hes been gutted.

Also low pick rate can mean only mains play a champion and their winrate is inflated.

That is legitimately a completely unverifiable assumption. You have absolutely ZERO factual backing to stand on. Literally pure assumption. My main has a lower pick rate and do you see me pulling that BS?

But "DJ Malzahar" is gonna be a great source for completely unbiased info on Malz I'm sure

When considering that he's been repeatedly nerfed since the rework (with another double nerf on the pbe),

that most players play him support,

that jungle malz is barely used at all other than the person who made it popular( causing jg malz players to play him elsewhere or give up on him),

and that support malz is the new meta way to play him (therefore leaving mid as undesired by new malz players),

we can gather that there is a far greater chance that the vast majority of people who still play him mid are those that want to stick to the original role they played him in. AKA his mains. We can also assume that the winrate is inflated because those who play him there are mostly those with a vast amount of experience with him.

Or you could just look at the Playerbase Experience Distribution in the link that YOU posted and see that 46.55% of people who play him mid have played him more than 200 times and that only 18.39% of the 1.46% of people who actually play him mid have played less than 100 games as him.

He is not gutted but he definitely feels like a champion who is entirely about his ultimate. He should have nerfed somethinig else in his kit which was clearly affecting the bot lane. Instead, he just made him into the "Flash + R so my team can finish of the target" type of support.

I won't even go into the play rate and pick rate, look at his overall Champion Matrix.

Malzahar deals lower damage, gets fews kills, earns almost no gold, doesn't take damage, and wins too often.

What this tells us is that he doesn't interact with anything in order be to successful. He hides away using his Voidlings and shield to protect himself and just pushes.

This is an slayer(assassin)/mage that doesn't deal damage or get kills, and the player base has put in on average 200+ games, one of the highest for mid.

When a champion cannot do their job in their intended role, that is the clear mark of failure.

I feel like malz mains are upset because riot doesnt want there champ in every role except adc like he was last year mid season so they are nerfing him because balance a champ is hard when they have aids minions, an aoe silence, a point and click suppress that does %hp damage, as well as being one of the classic rylais abusers making good synergy with liandry's as well, being a lane bully who scales into late game, duels other champs of his type and adcs well, splitpushes well, teamfights well, with the weakness of being squishy and immoble.

Sounds a little bit like... AIDS, dont you think?
