Neeko QoL Passive Change Idea

The way Neeko's passive is set up right now does not seem the most useful to be honest and is hard to trick people with it being so easy to break. I mainly use it to move faster by swapping to a target with a higher base movement speed than Neeko, which is not at all the fantasy of what it should be used for.

What I would do is something along the lines of:

  • Ultimate shield is completely removed. The way it is set up makes it useless and redundant anyways.

  • Passive now offers a shield while transformed into an allied champion, low base value and high ability power ratio to encourage more ability power heavy builds. The shield is an indefinite duration, when the shield breaks, the passive goes on cooldown and the disguise is broken allowing for the trickster element to be more convincing. Neeko can disguise Neeko as the same champion again to refresh the shield strength, but this can only be done while out of combat for 5 seconds to not be busted (same goes for swapping to a different champion disguise, excluding swapping back to Neeko since that offers no shield).

  • This passive shield is hidden away to the enemy team while disguised, but the enemy team thinks they are damaging the champion even though they are only damaging Neeko's disguise's shield.

  • Passive no longer breaks with Neeko's offensive ability casts, but Neeko abilities shooting out from anyone but Neeko makes it pretty obvious that Neeko is a disguised Neeko. Other words, you are not discouraged from using your abilities in fear of your disguise being broken, just not recommended to do it while the enemy team is watching to not give yourself away that you are actually Neeko pretending to be Ezreal.

  • Passive changing gains a 5th slot which is Neeko's image to transform back to Neeko, regaining your normal attack range and attack speed and all of that, but you do not have your shield while Neeko actually is Neeko.

I feel this will make Neeko's passive actually feel useful to the user and make it feel like it fulfills the fantasy it is intended for, which is tricking people and making them guess harder of who is Ezreal and who is disguised Ezreal!

I think Neeko's passive is pretty good as is, and the shield on the ultimate is to encourage going in to use it. You're not gonna go into 5 people with no shield full squishy and use your ultimate, and you can use Neeko's passive in interesting ways already. I don't see transforming into Ezreal as a creative way to use it though, unless you're late into the game where anybody can be anywhere. You'd generally want to pretend to be the jungler rather than the ADC in mid lane. While it would be nice to have the option to use abilities while disguised, I also think if you were to use an ability while disguised it'd give it away just as much as being changed back to Neeko, and being unable to remove the disguise from using abilities seems a bit weird and overpowered. Like why would you ever actually be Neeko in that case? There'd be no reason in making skins for Neeko because you'd never actually be using the skin. On top of that, I don't think Neeko should have a shield ALL the time. The shield on her ultimate is contained to that one specific instance where Neeko actually wants to go into a group. Outside of that she doesn't need a shield.

The shield applies AFTER the stun.

This change is you have the shield going in which makes it useful for the ultimate.

Why not just change the shield to work the instant the ability starts casting instead then? Neeko doesn't need a shield all the time.

To make the passive more useful and do the job it was intended for.
