PSA: Don't sit at your turret for the first 1:30 of the game

LegacyDAP··57 votes·3,328 views

You're literally useless by doing that, and it's nice to get early vision on the river and jungle.

Edit: You guys don't have to place wards, you're literally a walking vision machine, you can just sit in the bushes and give vision before your minions get to lane.

Just going to point out that bard might be an exception for how he should spend his pre-1:30, as his map location influences the initial chime locations (in particular, he should probably be hanging out between the two bot turrets).

For everyone else, people really ouaght to be at the various jungle entrances keeping an eye out for invades. I probably won't blame anyone for not wanting to ward (as I understand most laners want to keep their trinket to protect them for early ganks), and I understand if you don't want to poke your head into the enemy jg for fear of getting murdered, but there's literally no harm in watching the jg entrances until creeps reach your lane.

Also Heimer. He needs to set up his turrets. And annie/malazhar might be a bit late if they charge up their passives first.

Also various champions who might want to start with traps (lane shaco, some cait starts, maybe nid, etc).

The key thing is people shouldn't be idling pre-1:30. Either be providing useful vision, or be setting something up, but hanging out under turret is completely unnecessary since the turret can provide vision on it's own.

My friend who mains bard usually misses a chime or two just to get some vision for me, (god bless him) but most Bards can just sit in the general area and still be able to pick up chimes I think.

Not to mention that as Shen you need to set up your spirit blade in the farthest bush of top lane before you start laning. Gives you a free trade if your opponent isn't careful.

I sit on the fountain and dance. Then I escorts the minion wave giving them words of encouragement the whole way. Afterall, the first wave is the most important

PSA: sometimes people need some extra time to do stuff in the beginnings of game and are smart enough not to sit in tri-bush afk.

LegacyDAP8 votes

Do it before the game starts then lol. Do you really need to wait until game starts to start looking up stuff on mobafire for good builds?

No I don't but I would rather them afk under the tower than in a bush as a free kill. I mean I only do it when the game loads stupid fast and I was going to piss before the game started and go "whelp guess I have to now".

LegacyDAP5 votes

I'm talking about when the person is obviously there, and just not doing stuff. I understand if you have to use the restroom and stuff, but when the game starts and you're just sitting there waiting for minions, check the bushes in the jungle and ward around you, give vision.

Which even still why the heck do people do that when they only have 1 minute >.>

LegacyDAP1 votes

Tbh, I do it when I'm loading up. Or after picks and bans, and sometimes the game loads up super quick, so I can understand that. But very rarely does it happen, and I apologize when it does.

If the game has started, you should not be afk.

LegacyDAP3 votes

What does this have to do with anything?

Ecodeath1 votes

im not gonna waste my wards or vision on helping my jg out. thats his role and if he doesnt do it im not going to communicate with hm at all.

Ravag33 votes

leaving a deep ward or any ward in the enemy jungle actually helps the entire team know what the enemy jungler is up too aka ward bush near raptors you know exactly what time he/she does red as a mid laner or top laner you know to play it safer when they get to that part of the map if they dont show on the map mid and bot could expect a gank which any good jungler will counter gank or invade putting the enemy jungler behind at the cost of a failed gank. and the fact you seem to have little to no respect for any jungler leads me to believe you dont help your jungler out at all(Just be aware that a jungler doesn't HAVE to gank for you its a service his/her presence could be useful elsewhere. or they could build up for late game in farm.

The more you know*[slayer-jinx-wink]*

You mean get his buffs stolen because you didn't watch his fucking jungle?

Ecodeath1 votes

his jg not mine. if he cant handle his own sht he shouldnt be jungling

IcyPepper3 votes

I'm guessing you never ask for ganks or help with dragon/herald objectives, do you?

Ecodeath1 votes

of course i do. its his duty to gank and get objectives

IcyPepper1 votes

So you want him to gank... but you don't want to help him defend his jungle.

You do realize that if junglers applied your logic to their role, there would be no ganks?

Reshaos2 votes

As a top semi-main, I kind of need that ward due to the RV being usually parked outside my lane by the enemy jungler lol. That level 3 cheese can be a deadly one.

LegacyDAP3 votes

Who said you need to ward, just sit at the river bush, or right outside the red buff/blue buff.

IcyPepper2 votes

For the first 1:30, you don't need to use your ward.

Be the ward.

:)

DazedOnlooker1 votes

After seeing my jg get sad after starting blue/gromp/wolves and going to do red only to find that its been taken by the enemy jg...(or getting killed by the enemy jg while killing his red) i have made a consistent habit of warding the red/blue buffs regardless of whether I'm going top or bot (or mid) xD.

I have noticed that by doing this. i would see my jg killing his blue 1st, and if i saw the enemy jg taking his red at the same time I would ping for it so that our jg would just rotate straight to the enemy red in retaliation.

Tip for mids: Bot side river bush. Very rarely does anyone check it, and you see ANY ATTEMPT TO INVADE

Rocky21 votes

Sadly hardly any mids do this, so as ADC, i swing by there first, drop a ward, then go stand by the other entrance to provide vision. This is when starting Purple Side of course.

Enemy team must not be very stealthy, any normal enemy team will hug that wall and sneak into your jungle and that only kind of works for top side team (i can't remember team color right now for some reason).

ValyrianBlade1 votes

I do this every game as the ADC...

Why is it mid's job?

As top I also ward top lane river bush. In both cases I stand in tri-bush on the appropriate side, or in the jungle entryway on the opposite side, to see any potential invade coming from a mile away.

Divewing1 votes

I never said it was anyones job... mids simply the best because its literally at the entrance to the lane so they have the easiest/fastest way to get there

High51 votes

Wish I could up vote this 100 times. I generally stop listening to people / mute them if they do this or just run to a jungle camp. It's a good indication of who understands the game and who does not.

warpenguin5551 votes

I should really stop doing that

Jeddy0171 votes

I usually just stand in the jungle or river & watch for invades, then I drop a ward by the buff on the side the jungler isn't starting at.
