Riven is able to traverse 1105 units of terrain every 13~ seconds.

Tentakill Myself··10 votes·1,048 views

At no cost.

This is like 2 and a half free flashes with no drawbacks and a shield and cc every 13~ seconds, not to mention she gets her max rank E twice during that time, making it 1430 units.

Can riven scale off energy? Surely it must be tiring hopping around the rift.

You do realize it has a cost, right? She burns her primary damage source and her knockup. It's all fun and games until someone catches you out when your Q goes on cooldown

And then you still have your outrageous basic attacks with 20% of AD bonus physical damage from 3 stacks of your passive, as well as a stun and your ultimate plus your Q once it goes off of its insanely low cooldown.

"Wow, I can deal okay damage with a whole 4-6 basic attacks while my main offense and defense tools are on cooldown, what a deal!"

Meanwhile, [any tanky bruiser] laughs in your face before eating it and using your skull as a tea cozy.

Riven's Q is not her main source of damage. It deals 90 + 0.6 of her attack damage at rank 5. That's less than her basic attack. Its literally just an excuse for a Basic>Quick Q>Basic>Quick Q>Basic>Quick Q and a knockup. Plus small AOE. And Valor at rank five has a 6 second cooldown. Six Seconds Do you know how little that is? Especially on a bruiser who should be able to survive in an extended fight for 30+ seconds without her shield. And her damage output would probably just chase whoever came on her away until she gets her crap back up to chase and get a free kill. Oh, and in addition, her W does 100% of AD. So, want that quick ability>basic attack and passive recharge? Basic>W>Basic.

Using her Q mixed with basic attacks is the core of her damage output. If she only uses her Q to get close to a target, rather than when already in range to fight, she loses ~25% of her damage for the sake of being able to trade at all. And that's assuming her target, at the end of her range, doesn't retaliate with CC or use their own dash to get further away in the time it takes her to land three basic attacks, on a champion who doesn't build AS.

And Valor at rank five has a 6 second cooldown. Six Seconds Do you know how little that is? Especially on a bruiser who should be able to survive in an extended fight for 30+ seconds without her shield.

To which bruiser do you refer? I can't name one with a 30-second cooldown on a personal shield. Or are you implying that someone as squishy as Riven should be able to survive a 30-second fight without her shield?

And her damage output would probably just chase whoever came on her away until she gets her crap back up to chase and get a free kill.

You seem to forget that other champions can also deal damage. A lot of damage.

Oh, and in addition, her W does 100% of AD. So, want that quick ability>basic attack and passive recharge? Basic>W>Basic.

100% of bonus AD, so actually less than 100% of AD. That scalar isn't going to be very helpful early game.

25% of her damage? LOL! As you said, not very much attack speed. So what? For every full Broken Wings she gets off, she gets another 9 basic attacks?

oohhoohhoohhoohh hehehehehehe oh my oh lmao goodness "as squishy as riven" AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA ur funny man

base stats at level 18 82 base armor 55 base magic resist 2106 health

minus any extra she might build Plus the damage she builds. And again, the fact that her AD-scaling shield with a dash is on a 6 second cooldown AND she has her W AND she has her ultimate.

So, I might have exaggerated a little bit. Maybe fifteen seconds. Either way, that's enough to block two major damage outputs, and for three more seconds, a third.

You seem to forget that other champions can also deal damage. A lot of damage.

And Riven can to! Plus CC, plus a 6-second cooldown AD scaling shield and dash, plus a 13 second cooldown Q that allows her to knockup an opponent and deal damage inbetween basic attacks as well as adding damage to her basic attacks, plus a stun that deals 100% of bonus AD! What a freaking coinkydink!

100% of bonus AD, so actually less than 100% of AD. That scalar isn't going to be very helpful early game.

110 base damage. She deals a ton of damage as it is. 110 damage is probably less than 1/3 of what she stacks on a full build. And, early game, she isn't going to be roaming through a lane and getting jumped on. Unless the player is an idiot that pushes lane ASAP, which is their fault, not ours.

Try not to act like an idiot when you're posting, and maybe people will take you seriously. Mock laughter when presented with reasonable discussion is not going to win you an argument, it just makes you look infantile.

Oh, and for the record; 61 champions have higher base health than Riven at level 1. Among them are Shaco, Zed, and Miss Fortune.

53 have higher base hp at level 18. Again including base stat super stars like Miss Fortune, Shaco, Fiora, Zed, etc.

On top of this, her low bases and high ratios force her to build pure AD, she cannot afford to actually build tanky or she's worthless to her team. So yes. Riven is, objectively, and factually, a very squishy champion.

Enjoy facts.

Because leveling up isn't a thing.

Because armor and magic resist isn't a thing. Oh, and did you know League has 125 champs as of the release of Ekko?

Some offensive items gives defensive stats too, y'know? And, again, six second cooldown.

ScreamPaste2 votes

She's 61st at level 1 armour as well. Melee fighters normally have very high base armour and HP, Riven does not. For her class and her job she is objectively very squishy. There is no argument against this.

Hell, looking at the stats, Syndra has more base armour than Riven, lol. Do you need me to figure out how she places in every stat for you, or are you incapable of finding the facts on your own?

makes him look infantile because he is removing part of the quote he isn't addressing? sorry but it makes you look infantile for even mentioning this in your quote since he wasn't addressing the entire quote.

lvling is a thing this matter because... he was saying at lvl 1 or do you also need to know who has the highest armor/hp values in each and every single lvl?

because mr changes at all so much... You either have 30 base mr at lvl 18 or you have 53 base mr at lvl 18 so mentioning mr is dumb and stupid and also Riven has one of the lowest base armor values at lvl 18 with just 78.8 (or 79 if you like whole numbers) being the 28th lowest. So once again what was the point of this comment? oh yeah, nothing since your argument falls flat on its face

You keep mentioning this 6 second CD but it doesn't matter if she dies before she can use it again which is a very easy thing to do since even with the oh mighty and powerful defensive stats that the AD items gives you you are very squishy.

it procs the passive that makes it very useful

That'd makes sense... if CDR didn't exist.

In 13 seconds Ashe can walk 4000 units. So. Yeah. 13 seconds is a long time.

Also "everything I have is on CD and now I'm helpless" is most certainly a cost.

MohawkBird1 votes

You can literally say that about any non AA based champion. Pretty much any mage is: "everything i have is on CD and now I'm helpless" EXCEPT that they actually have a resource to manage, and likely higher cooldowns than Riven's anyways.

Yeah although Riven is definitely one of the more annoying champions in the game, people take it way too far when they cry about Riven.

Riven is a problem to you guys because you all generally suck at the game.

If she could travel that whole distance instantly, then it might be worth mentioning.

The fact that it takes four dashes--three of them being the core of her damage output, and the fourth being her only defensive tool--is worth mentioning.

MohawkBird1 votes

I don't understand why people are using the fact it's her main defense and damage tool to hurt his argument. You would only use this mobility for chasing or getting back to lane. It's not like people are going to gangbang you in between your two turrets because your Q is on CD.

JustMyBassCannon3 votes

The reason is because, if you're using it for that mobility, you aren't getting the whole offensive or defensive benefit of the abilities.

It's like the fact that Katarina's Shunpo is her only engage and her only escape. If you use it for one, you can't use it for the other. Another comparison, it's like Lissandra using her ultimate on herself for the protection, or on a target for the stun. For obvious reasons, the Katarina parallel is more in line with this discussion.

Withthegoodrice2 votes

Where are you getting your stats? According to the lolwiki, each Q has a range of 112.5, and her E 375 units.

Yeah she can walk in between them, but they're not instant. Without CDR, a Jax actually travels faster with a 700unit Q on a base 6 second CD.

So where did you get 1105?

JustMyBassCannon3 votes

Actually, her Q dashes have a range of 260, and the strike radius is 112.5.

I'm an idiot. Thank you so much. Does it still stand that Jax moves faster, given he has something to Q onto?

He took the ability range from Q, multiplied by 3, and added the range of E. He miscalculated, and said a Q's Damage range is the movement range.

Also he didnt take into account that she can walk

SleepyLionCub1 votes

Actually, Riven can move about 5170 Units every 13 seconds. If she actually walks, and has no boots.

While Janna can move 5630 Units every 13 seconds with just a item 3069 if he DOESNT activate it.
