If supports had a dedicated summoner spell like junglers have smite it would make supporting much more fun along with opening future items up for just supports. It could be something as simple as reduceibg targets damage for 3 seconds with a 60 second cd. Also sightstone should be merged with the support gold items. I should work for riot.

Yes, I too love having no choice in what I do. I hate being able to choose between Exhaust and Ignite, or anything else that feels appropriate. I want to be forced into choosing the same spell every game.

You don't pick summoner spells based on how cool they are, you pick them based on how powerful they are in the situation you're going to be in. Ignite may be a "lame DOT" but it's the correct kill lane summoner spell. Exhaust is useful in a million other situations, too. I don't like forcing a role that has previously been free to pick any summoner it saw fit to choose something else.
Junglers having to take smite works because the jungling role is inherently simplistic - every jungler will always want something that helps them kill camps and secure objectives because it's a core gameplay of their role. But supports have so much more diversity in what they do that you can't give them a spell that's all-encompassing to the point that people will be satisfied in being forced to take it. People will miss having Exhaust or Ignite and wonder why they're not allowed to have them anymore.
I main support, but I don't think copying the season 5 Smite rework is the way to go for the role. I think there's a huge gap in AP support itemisation but I don't feel that creating new items that can only be used by supports is the way to fix that. Personally I'm interested to see what comes of the Sightstone rework.

I would rather have an interesting item build that I can more easily tailor to my strategies than have an execute dot summoner, that is all it comes down to when you weigh both possibilities. Support itemization will never be worthwhile as long as a laner can also take it. I wouldn't expect much from the sightstone change given Riot's track record.
