For the most part Lee isn't taken top simply because he excells so well in the jungle, but he can work well in top lane. Biggest pros to this are his use of energy and innate sustain, which means you can stay in lane longer than most. Your dueling is also very strong which further promotes you staying in lane longer. Take TP and you can get some really great flanks with your ulty. Lee does a lot well, but nothing great so other picks will be better. No reason not to play him top imo

I am a Lee main and I can honestly say I prefer him in lane. Mid lane is where I tend to do best with him, It may be because I'm a mid laner but I love his laning he has such amazing outplay potential and ad scaling, the w provides great sustain and escape from ganks. But the truth is his kit is a perfect jungler, mobile and an ulti that can set up kills so well, amazing tower dive potential and great clear/sustain in jungle. However if you want to lane lee sin man do it, it works and you need to know how to itemize, don't build sightstone just get hydra some armor pen and upgrade yellow trinket, then build how you wish from there, I play him full ad assassin and just do really good, like I have more success as full ad assassin lee sin than I do as a bruiser/tank jungler because it suits my playstyle, I love assassins and squishy high burst champs, with the new way his ulti works u can snipe people using their tanks to absolutely melt squishies cause all that %HP dmg plus all that armor pen is incredibly deadly. but of course this means you will play lee sin WAY different than you do as a bruiser/tank. Lee is a very good flex pick and the reason you don't see him in lane is because he does suit the jungle more, as for top lane he can be outclassed there because generally you want a tanky farming champ top lane that's the meta and lee sin isn't that. mid lane he actually suits it very well but the other ad assassins just have better late game so he can fall off if played poorly. Just keep in mind that mid Varus wasn't a thing till PoE from UoL used it and everyone hopped on that Varus mid train after he used it. Froggen is a pro who uses lee mid lane i'm sure if he uses it during worlds or an event it will become more popularized. LeeSin
