So . i was plat 4 0 LP in season 8 and i was 5% of the top players. now im plat 2 20LP and im 8% of top players. Thats so huge if u think about it. 2 divisions up but 3% down of the top.i checked and i saw now diamond 4 0 LP is top 5% players. So all the players climbed a whole Tier in less then one season? Players didnt get better because i had so much better games and better game qualities in Season 8 compared to season 9. but somehow all of the players climbed so hard during 1 season?

LP gains were way to high, so yes. Just look at Diamond+, I have even seen Gold Players now Master, Diamond 5 hardstucks now GM.

They messed up lp gains yes but I also think players are quitting. I think lower elo players are less addicted to the game so they will quit first as the game declines, leaving a higher percentage of players in higher ranks.

Idk about EU, but at the end of last season there was about 2.2M accounts placed in ranked on NA according to opgg leaderboards. We are almost halfway through the season and theres currently only 1.1M accounts placed in ranked this season. Thats a signifcant decline and I seriously dont expect the amount of accounts placed to double during the second half of the season.

Huge restructuring of the ranked tiers due to adding two tiers and removing divisions, changing some definitions on what rank means waht, MMR and LP problems, etc...

Ladder's a bit messed up, they should've had a total reset, especially welcomed for players returning after years of not playing (for some reason MMR doesn't decay at all).

D4 is yuge. More fun data from Rito Blau.

Prior season. Starts at bronze 5. Current season Starts at iron 4. Assuming Each Tier represents a similar range to previous seasons.

Assuming Iron 4 is the same as prior B5, The 4 Divisions would break to be. Iron = B5-B2. Bronze b1-S3. Silver = S2-G4. G= G3-P5. Plat is = P4-p1. Diamond=d5-d2.

The entire ladder sinks basically. And tiers move slower then MMR so you see upticks in "lower" Tiers reaching into higher MMR games.

Because Your seeing players at G2-G1 being in last years Plat MMR.

Odds are... Riot might have tweaked the ranges of MMR they want each Tier to represent as well which can have impact especially if they offset the ladder to manipulate population placements.

You had 27 Titles last season. 5 for each Color then Masters+Challanger. so 5+5+5+5+5+1+1. You have 27 Titles this year. 4 for each and GM got added. So 4+4+4+4+4+4+1+1+1.

I don't think the ladder really got changed all that much but the titles just overlapped. You can cover the exact same ground but lower Elo players think they improved because you see more of them in silver-gold with much lower MMR range then last year. Then it starts to even out around Plat into Diamond thou the folks who previously had been in the bottom bits of D5 are likely to be Plat this season.

Everyone is basically shifted up a tier. Everyone I knew who was plat 3 is now Diamond 3. Everyone who was plat 4 is now diamond 4. (Except me because I have the worst mental of any player in the world.)

Gold is the new silver. Plat is the new gold. Silver is the new bronze. You can feel it when you play in these elos. The players are atrocious.

There's an active Boosting Service by Masters players to boost lower elos right now. I've run into at least 6 accounts in the last week who openly try to recruit "Boostees" in Silver. If one player can experience 6 different boosters, you KNOW it has to be prolific right now.

For example, this Tryn is a paid booster account. Said to me he created the account to boost his Brother but was taking payments by other players to boost as well. (has a string of 30+ kill games)

They added Iron and Grandmaster so the ladder sort of shifted around

After my promo games, I got to plat 2 0 lp. I didn’t play ranked for a while and played a couple games. Exactly 7 games lost at 0 lp. I didn’t demote and my first win after that much lost gave me 22 lp. I wasn’t expecting something like this...

What actually happened was riot INTENTIONALLY and in patch notes stated, they shifted the starting point of the ranks so that gold was easier to achieve. This was because they felt it was unfair to hold back gold rewards that everyone tried for. This shifted silver into a division you had to FALL into instead of climb into. This made gold easier to get, with more people in gold baseline, this caused the BELL CURVE that league is FORCIBLY balanced around to move upwards about 3%. Because the game FORCES(there are no tied games) a 50/50 the top and bottom players will never be able to change percentages of elos by winning/losing as every game requires a win or a lose, with the exception being afks. Only 5 players can win per match, but up to 10 can lose per match (if everyone goes afk, gets the warning then wins you can get 10 people to lose the game). So no, riot just shifted the balance intentionally devaluing ranks, infact its much much MUCH harder to climb past diamond now with the mmr changes.

Players are leaving en-mass skewing the ladder.

It makes sense when Riot added the Grandmaster tier no?

voidscaler6/4/2019, 11:16:28 AM1 votes

were you not aware of the way they changed the leagues? they added in grand master and split up diamond +plat a bit to spread out the % in the leagues its not that players jumped, you are just "effectivly" in a lower rank then you were before

Same, I was Gold 4 0lp previous season (back when 5 division existed) now I am Gold 1 and trying to hit Plat. My friends also Gold now, even though one of them was hardstuck Silver 2-1 and other one was Gold 5 (now Gold 3)

FiveAneurysms6/3/2019, 11:41:49 PM1 votes

I was hardstuck D3 last season, reached D1 for the first time in a week of climbing and got to D4 with an 81% WR, much easier this season
