Can we change Trinity Force's recipe more?

WoonStruck··6 votes·938 views

The current item 3078 is garbage, catering only to caster ADCs and Gangplank. This is compounded by the huge dedication to build it, both cost and time-wise, while a lot of the stats cannot be used in fast-paced metas like now.

Remove item 3086 from the recipe, add item 1043 instead. Yeah, the crit and MS might be missed a little, but the MS can be pumped into its Rage passive instead, and most won't actually miss the crit that much.

This allows the item to have a usable AS bonus, as opposed to a barely noticeable one, and adds a little on-hit damage, which bruisers love when gunning down an ADC.

This will also allow the price to drop a little bit, making it a little more viable of a buy on a lot of champions who don't get an extreme power-spike from it.

Why Riot is pushing the classic bruiser item towards ADCs just because pre-rework KogMaw, Lucian, and Corki found it worth building is beyond me. So basically 2 ADCs got the item reworked so they can abuse it even better.

It needs things back that make it usable by more than just ADCs and the few champs with a 3 second or less CD ability. Nevermind the fact that 90% of the classic users would much rather use item 3124 instead.

There's no advantage to item 3078 when item 3025 and item 3071 exist for stickiness, sheen procs, damage, etc. If you just want damage, item 3124 is better because 100% of your gold goes into extremely slot-efficient offensive stats.

The funny thing is how lucian still prefers other crit options, while kog doesn't like it at all, and ez only runs around with iceborn. The champions i effectivly see useing it are corki and GP, and seldomly Irelia and Jax.

Irelia and Jax certainly prefer AS+on-hit over crit, and corki would be alot healthier without crit, and if people still complain about looseing the critting force, one could just add a new item that is a trinity for no-crit while keeping the current one aswell

Making Trinity an ADC item was the worst change to it yet. I'd rather them remove the crit and add a defensive stat even. It was a change that catered to effectively 2 champions, while alienating even more.

jax and irelia don't even buy it anymore. at least jax. its so garbage on him right now. there is no AP on it anymore. and he doesn't need crit

Actually, with TF, Ez does more damage flat damage unless he lands a Q while his spellblade is on cooldown or his auto doesn't crit, with a 40% crit chance, and he hits the CDR cap instead of getting to 30% without runes. The "less" damage he does if he hits Q without spellblade or doesn't crit is also negligible, he attacks faster as well, and the autoattacks that do crit as well as most of the Q's with spellblade hit a lot harder. That, and Bork's slow is actually used if you have to build it, since slows no longer stack and you can perma 30% somebody with IBG. The extra MS between Zeal and Phage is pretty decent, too. Also, he's got a much stronger early game since he gets damage faster, and can snowball pretty hard.

TL;DR Trinity Force is still good on Ezreal, just less safe and it isn't the flavor of the month.

..Though I do have to admit, now that I just typed all of this, Corki does TF Ezreal's job better, so there's that.

zeal needs to go away. but rito just changed the item so corki can use it. right after the marksman update they messed up the item.

there is no reason to pick trinity force over iceborn for brusiers. or even ezreal. and I'd probably even take bc over it. the item is too garbage tier right now

Love how this post gets downvoted by gp and corki mains(or corki fotm sheeps)

If you hold so dare to the crit on it, then how about keeping the current for ~2champs and add a 'new' trinity for all the the champs that lost trinity as they don't give a damn about crit?

Possibly building out of a changed item 3101: item 1042 +item 1042 +300g(900g total)

  • 30% as
  • 5% ms
  • 10% cdr

Nashor's could simply get a dagger added to the builtpath and now gives 5%ms, if it becones to strong the cost could get increased by~200

The new trinity could look like this: item 3044 +item 3057 +item 3101 +500g (3700g total)

  • 35 ad
  • 35% as
  • 20% cdr
  • 7% ms
  • 300 hp
  • 300 mana
  • spellblade for 200% base-ad
  • rage
  • doubled rage speed on the spellblade proc

This would be a good version for spell wavers(mix AAs with abillitys), giving some more ad for scaleings, and some good as+cdr for faster AAs and spells. aswell as extra ms on speelblade for it and run or stickiness.

Another option would be item 3044 +item 3057 +item 1043 +300g(3700 total)

  • 30 ad
  • 30% as
  • 30 physical on-hit
  • 10% cdr
  • 5% ms( i think ms belongs to trinity no matter the builtpath)
  • 300 hp
  • 300 mana
  • spellblade for 150% base ad, double on-hit on spellblade
  • rage

This way it would work as great multiplyer for on-hit champs, though not all as you need to proc the spellblade frequently, and the double on hit would probably need the same name as sated, as stacking devourer with this trinity on a champ like jax could get rather stupid.

A last option i see would be item 3044 +item 3057 +item 2015 + 650g(3700g total)

  • 30 ad
  • 30% as
  • 10% cdr
  • 5% ms
  • 300 hp
  • 300 mana
  • spellblade for 200% base-ad
  • rage
  • energized: You Energized attacks deal an aditioal 10-40+base-ad magic damage and slow the target by 25% for 2 sec

Mostly to empower hit and run tactics and asassination-patterns.

inb4 ADC abuse and get nerfed.

Another option is item 3101, but the trade-offs for buying item 3025 might not be worth it if both spellblade options offer 20% CDR.

It can still have movement speed. For example item 3147 gets movement speed out of nowhere. I think the zeal should be replaced with item 3101 so the item can have 20% CDR

The wonderful thing about Trinity Force is that each and every one of its stats comes from an item that its built from.

I honestly wouldn't like to add random stats to it from nowhere. Especially when another component can house those stats in another form already.

I wouldn't want 20%cdr mostly because it would ruin my favorite Hecarim build. I do miss the little bit of ap it gave

What if it was item 3044 item 3057 item 2015 with a straight up +100 magic damage energized attack after 100 stacks?

Only 15% attack speed makes me sad. Most expensive item in the game too.

Riot actually discussed why they didn't do this. This change will never happen, so stop clammering for it.

Riot goes back on their word all the time. Its obvious to see what happened to Trinity Force and they'd be fools to not address the item and the classic users neglect of it.

CrazedPorcupine1 votes

Riot honestly hates Trinity Force. If it's too good, then everyone and their mother buys it. (See season 2 metagolem). They keep it optimized for use by a very small population of characters because if it's good on multiple people, then the people capable of using EVERY SINGLE STAT IT OFFERS, end up going out of control. Then if riot nerfs those champs that are out of control, but then all the other users end up being too good, Riot ends up nerfing TF and leaving the abusers of it overnerfed like with what happened with Sejuani and Cinderhulk.

Riot won't change Trinity Force's Crit to on-hit. They even said that having on-hit damage just didn't feel rewarding to the users.

Crit isn't rewarding to any of the classic users either.

Those moments of a double powered auto outside of the sheen proc felt great, and getting the crit+sheen Proc felt even greater. Most people never noticed the on-hit damage when the build had recurve bow instead of zeal and just stated that the item felt worse to use because they felt like they weren't doing the same amount of damage.

The on-hit damage didn't bother many people, actually. Its basically 15 AD. Most of the champs that bought it, namely Irelia and Jax, loved it. Trinity also had more attack speed then. Another thing was how frustrating the crits are when setting up minions to trade on Irelia. It happens twice as often with the new set of stats.

15% attack speed and 20% crit feels far, far worse than the recurve iteration, so I don't really know where you're going with this. Even with Zeal, it doesn't need 10% more crit. It could easily have its old attackspeed back with zeal.

All people want is 15% more attack speed, 10% less crit, for the most part. Only ADCs want the crit, and ADCs won't even use it atm.

CrazedPorcupine1 votes

Did you actually play-test the Recurve bow iteration? Because unless you did, I'm going to continue to say that this entire endeavor of trying to get Riot to change Trinity Force's build path is a pointless one and is a giant waste of time.

Which unless you actually are part of Riot's internal playtesting team, is impossible.

But tons of damage?

ValyrianBlade1 votes

Keep it the same. Lower the gold cost by 150g.

Nerf Guinsoo's, that item is still absurdly OP.

Voila: More of the intended users build trinity force.

I would also advocate for shifting the stats slightly, to prevent it inadvertently buffing the already popular Lucian and strong Corki via the cost reduction: -10 AD +150 health Cost +50g (total cost down 100g then).
