I really would appreciate context on the blink function added to Akali's W as part of her rework

My thread on why I think it should be removed

I would really like a red response in this thread or in the other thread linked at the top for context as to why the blink was added. A lot of other Akali players and I feel that only being able to place it on top of yourself with a blink is a very bad trade for no longer being able to do so many things with her shroud that she can do right now just so she can have some more "outplay potential". We really feel that it has no place in her kit and the current functionality of her Shroud is perfectly fine.

Having a response from a red with reasoning as to why this function is being added to her shroud would be really appreciated. Maybe I can convince you to revert it to how it is now or at least think about it. After all of the changes she's gone through during the PBE cycle I feel that I can definitely get used to how she will now play and if she turns out to be too weak or strong then she can be fixed with some number tweaks. My only gripe with the rework is that shroud change and a discussion with a red would be really great. Thanks.

the blink lets you jump walls now if you're precise with it. i don't play akali much, but how is this a big deal? genuine question

If you go to the thread I linked in the OP I talk about this in my first and third points. In an actual game jumping walls with the blink won't really happen very often because the radius of the shroud is so small that you can only get over thin walls and you have to stand right next to them to do it. For reference, there are the two little walls on the side of midlane where you go to enter the river and even when Akali is standing right next to the thicker wall she cannot blink over it.

Having to place the shroud on top of yourself every time is huge because it limits what you can do with the shroud greatly. This makes it geared more towards casuals because now they don't have to worry about strategically placing the shroud whereas Akali mains know the ins and outs of good shroud placements so this change hurts them a lot. Riot said the rework would be geared more towards Akali mains, but the changes to her shroud do the opposite.

It might seem cool because it gives her more outplay potential, but the reality is that the outplay potential she gets from the new mechanic isn't that great and the tradeoff for it is really, really bad. That's basically the gist of the blink, but the thread goes into more detail about it.

the same can be said for poppy e, with the shorter range it's really hard, but you can still get over some walls with it.

doesn't the fact that you can blink after placing shroud give you MORE outplay potential? since your opponents have no idea where you are inside the shroud?

feels like, as she currently is, akali has less outplay potential besides the 'which way is she running' question, since she is always in the same spot no matter where the shroud shows up?

The positions where she can place her shroud give her a ton more outplay potential than the blink easily. Knowing where to place her shroud and when to do it takes infinitely more game knowledge and skill thank a blink that anyone can use and offers for more outplay potential because of how much room a good Akali player can give herself with proper positioning.

i understand what you're saying, but personally don't see it. however it's probably been a year or two since i played akali, so i'm not in a position to judge, hope the final rework ends up being something you like overall ^_^
