Riot, quit balancing / axing / nerfing shit around the LCS

99.99998% of the League population doesn't play in the LCS.

Why is it being actively balanced around then? It's like balancing shit for the PBE.

Because it is better than balancing the game for bronze and silver leagues where champion strength doesn't matter and a decent player can go into one of those game and win with ap riven

Well stated.

Why not balance it for Gold - Plat? Why do people like you always go to the polar opposite of the argument against balancing for LCS by mentioning Bronze-Silver? Those are polar opposite ends of the spectrum. Why not balance the game for the MIDDLE of the ELO?

When talking balance and ranked/competitive play, then you have to exclude unranked games by definition because they ARE NOT competitive.

Gold players aren't great, but they represent slightly above-average LoL players. The numbers skew heavily in the playerbase being Silver or below. Since you get the most data from more players, and one cannot balance without proper amounts of data, balancing from right around average, or slightly above, makes the most sense, rationally.

I mean, when you even think of the word balance, do you not realize that it means the middle? So why shouldn't we balance around the middle?

And I disagree about mid-plat comparison - people aren't good enough to be compared to LCS until Diamond 1 at very least. Don't say "mid-plat" just because you are currently mid-plat. That removes any sort of objectivity you have in your rationale and instead points to the fact that you are being snooty because of your rank.

You have to assume that people playing ranked are queuing up to be competitive. Trolling and bad players can happen at any rank, so you can't arbitrarily say that mid-Diamond is the point where games become competitive. The highest rank I've ever achieved was Gold 3, but I'm always playing to win.

Gold, Platinum, Diamond, whatever - they are all simply ranks. They mean virtually nothing due to the prevalence of ELO boosting and account selling. So I'm basically talking about numbers here - Gold is slightly above average, and I mean slightly, and thus is on the better side of Bronze but still way more indicative of what the average player can do than LCS or Bronze will ever be.

And you're above mid-Plat at Diamond 5, and that's what I mean. You picked an ELO that's below you because you have an ego about your rank. You arbitrarily assigned a rank at which people are good enough to be balanced for the LCS, even though statistically they are still well into the minority. My point still stands that your objectivity is lost in this argument since you are centering all of your points around yourself, more or less.

So you say it's better to balance around Silver, even though your original reply was balancing around the LCS is better than balancing around Bronze/Silver.

It's hard to even know what you're talking about when you can't keep your point straight. You were clearly making a snide comment about the balancing LCS over Bronze/Silver and your argument has gotten weaker and weaker ever since.

I was proposing middle ground between Bronze and LCS based on player base. Gold-Plat is a healthy balance between the top 0.001% and the bottom 45%. It's still balancing the game around the minority, but a healthier representation of what the playerbase really consists of instead of LCS only.

But I'll agree to disagree with you. Let's see if you return the favor.

How would you build AP Riven for success?

She has no ap ratios, so item 3285 and item 3100 are probably a must.

I have seen an ap Zed win. This was also before ludens so literally his only scalings came from a lich bane as he didn't build nashors. Thank God this was a friends game that I was watching because that must have stung.

Long story short. ANYTHING can happen in bronze.

I couldn't agree more. They even admit to doing this in their roundtable discussion about 5.16.

This "Juggernaut" patch should REAAAAALY been shelved for the pre-season. Because while they use the entire community to play test for the LCS, the actual player base suffers through their "balancing" while we simply try to climb.

Agreed. They need to start balancing for different levels of play differently imo.

What do you want? A difficulty setting?

AtheosisX1 votes

I just don't want champs to be nerfed and/or buffed solely for the sake of organized teams of the top 0.00001% of the playerbase. Call be crazy.

FooDang1 votes

It's for the sake of "balance" Just because you can't exploit a god tier champ doesn't mean other non LSC players can't...

AtheosisX1 votes

Nah. It's for the sake LC$ big plays.

Because LCS players are the best professional testers for RIOT...They find things out that are broken that 99.99998% of the league population wouldn't catch...

Hey guys, Shen is gettin Nerfed next patch because he is a '' BIG LCS PLAY BREAKER ''.

There's a point to this but personally balancing for low levels would leave somewhat of a sour taste for me.

I feel champions should be balanced around their best case possible, more how strong they are when mastered rather than how strong they are when played by a fool. The LCS/LCK/LPL as well as Team Que from high diamond up all show off what champs can do in a mastered case rather than an average case.

This is also relevant to lower levels as well. You know that guy who's put in 1000 Lee Sin games in Silver? Bets are he's a fairly good Lee player with at least above average mechanics for his level. If Lee's balanced for his average case rather than his mastered case this guy raises up to gold and becomes so dependent on his Lee Sin that he'll lose almost every game he doesn't get it.
