Its seriously getting on my nerves on how easy this thing is to get.

so what? most items are easy to get and sated devourer shouldnt be an exception. that was the entire point of this item. also, i really dont understand why everyone is crying so much about it.

I'm honestly not too big of a fan of the item.

Granted, it doesn't give great combat stats early game and is intended for hypercarry builds late-game. I like the item since it means assassins are going to have it a bit easier, putting them on a little more even ground with tanks and bruisers.

The only reason I don't like it is because of botrk (now devourer assassins can burst down tanks, which is what tanks are supposed to prevent) and that Master Yi is now spammable. Never liked the guy. You get one bot or mid lane that doesn't know what a ward is and you have the choice of warding for them or praying to your god of choice that Yi doesn't smite chickens to notice they aren't warding.

devourer-champions now deal a bit more damage but they are still not really "stronger" than before. as i explained in various other threads, their damage allready was high enough to do their job and now its not so much higher that it makes their job any easier. the challenge comes before dealing the damage for those champions, so it doesnt matter much that its a bit more damage now.

Lugg1 votes

No offense, but it's way more than just a bit more damage. As you said, those champions already did high damage, so this item makes them broken OP.

AyRe CoNteMpT1 votes

those champions are balanced not around their damage, so its absolutely fine for them to deal more damage, especially since its like 10-15% more damage only and only past 20 minutes. this means, not even their powerspikes are shifted and the new item doesnt cover their weaknesses too.

as long as the weaknesses are clear and exploitable, the strengths can be bigger and it still wont hurt the balance.

as you can see, ALL DEVOURER USERS dropped in winrate since the release of the item. this comes from two reasons:

  1. all noobs who cry "op op" are playing the champs right now and ofc losing with them
  2. people learn how to play against those champs better because they see them more frequently

so the damage seems to be not high enough to outweight the champions counterplay mechanics. pretty balanced.

Lugg1 votes

I just checked the numbers. EVERY AA based champion has had their winrate increase over the last month. This includes the noobs who are playing.

A 5% increase in damage for ANY champion will make them OP, let alone a 10-15% one. That is just common sense. There is no counterplay when you get deleted in a couple seconds.

I can give you an example. I was on a fed, full build, thornmail Rammus. He is a HARD counter to Yi and we dueled 1v1 both at full health. The Yi won due solely to the extra damage he got from Sated Devourer.

AyRe CoNteMpT1 votes
  1. rammus isnt a duelist

  2. you didnt build rammus to duel yi

  3. yi DID build to duel/kill people

  4. rammus doesnt "hardcounter" anyone in a 1on1 scenario. its not his field. he "hardcounters" yi because he is the ultimate peel against him in a skirmish/teamfight scenario.

  5. no matter how much damage a master yi deals, there is always counterplay as long as you dont facecheck him. he is still very far away from being "op" or "broken" or anything, especially because he wasnt even extremely good in the first place.

actually i think sated devourer is a pretty good item that brings more variety and balance to the game and the only champion its truly problematic on is kayle but thats not because of the item itself but because kayle recieved major buffs that scale with sated devourer IN THE SAME PATCH.

Seriously? You must live in a world of fairies and unicorns.

You have obviously never faced a competant Shyvana, Yi, Jax, Xin, Udyr, or Warwick equipped with it.

AyRe CoNteMpT2 votes

i am diamond 4, you are bronze 5. chances are, i face more competent everythings than you any day.

aside from that, on xin it only increases the healing and lets him knock up after 2 attacks instead of 3, tho it doesnt increase his damage. on warwick, it only increases his passive, which isnt very strong and certainly doesnt make him overpowered. on udyr, it only increases his phoenix stance, which is admittedly kinda good but also certainly doesnt make him overbearingly strong.

for yi and shyvana, it certainly increases the damage quite good (10% for yi, 15% for shyvana), but since these champs have very clear counterplay mechanics that apply before they even deal damage, being able to deal more damage with auto attacks does actually not change the champions strength very much. especially not when keeping in mind that this only comes at 20 minutes.

jax still has alot of trouble in the early and midgame and even once he has two items he usually isnt incredibly strong yet. even tho its true that past 4 items, it does increase his damage by alot.

but since jax faces similar problems as master yi, even more so in the jungle, this increase in damage is somewhat mitigated. it also DECREASES his midgame drastically, preventing his snowball.

so, i would say ill let you off the hook. after all, unicorns and fairies are not as bad as the delusional nightmares you suffer from in your games against all these competent warwicks ; )

Lugg1 votes

Xin getting a knockup on his second attack is huge and yes, it does increase his damage. Warwick gets a significant bump on his damage, passive, and his Q. Udyr gets a buff to his phoenix AND tiger stances. A 10% damage boost for Yi is insane considering the ridiculous amount of damage he can do already. Shyvana is basically god mode once she reaches sated. Good luck killing her with any champion. And jax, he scales so hard with devourer, he doesn't even need to get to sated to be doing stupid damage. I am honestly amazed that you think it decreases his midgame.

AyRe CoNteMpT1 votes
  1. it doesnt increase xins damage. where does he get more damage from his kit? i mean it increases the damage from itself and botk but that goes for every champion.

  2. warwick has some benefit from his passive but his Q doesnt scale on auto attacks.

  3. udyr only gains a bonus to his phoenix stance because the tiger stance bonus damage is added to his attack damage, its not an on-hit effect.

  4. as i explained long and carefully, master yi isnt balanced through his lategame damage. he is balanced through his ways to deal that damage and the counterplay against it. he is still a rather "weak" jungler compared to many others and definitely not op.

  5. shyvana surely deals more damage now, but she is the same as yi. her damage was allready one of the highest in the game and her problem never was that she deals too little damage. its the same balance philosophy so her damage increase doesnt actually matter at all.

  6. devourer is out there for how long? 7 month? jax never was a great jungler and he definitely didnt magically become one with the new devourer. in lane, he is a somewhat strong bully early on but then only really has his powerspike with trinity force or botrk in some cases. devourer is definitely MUCH weaker on him than botrk or trinity, so he buys a weaker item in order to scale better later on. now his 1-item-powerspike is rather weak and he allready isnt the strongest early-to-midgame champion and he needs 2 items to start dealing good damage and get sated. now at 2 items he probably went botrk to synergize with devourer but lategame allready began and he still has no tank items and no trinity. in lane, he would have trinity + botrk or trinity + randuins by now, and with these items, he would beat himself if he fought against a botrk + devourer jax.

btw: midgame starts between 8-10 minutes and ends between 20-25 minutes

so just do yourself a favor and learn from my experience.

The problem I am having with your post is that Runeglaive does bonus magic damage on attack. So champions who stack Attack Speed will ramp up incredibly hard since they are doing extra damage every time they attack, plus you still get the Sheen bonus as well. How does that not drastically increase the damage output?

This is why the item is so effective on Xin, WW, Udyr, Shyv, and Yi. As for Jax, yes, devourer has been out for awhile, but it wasn't until 5.13 that it actually benefited him.

You say that the increase doesn't unbalance these champions. What if you were to give an extra 10-15% to Kat? Wouldn't that make her OP? That is what I am having trouble understanding about your post.

AyRe CoNteMpT1 votes

what, are we getting confused now, sir? runeglaive deals bonus magic damage on hit and sheen? and scales with attackspeed? what?

also, if you are refering to this thread, we are talking about devourer, which doesnt give any sheen related things.

now, let me explai nthis to you again even tho i think i explained it enough: the damage increase udyr and ww get is negligible and xin doesnt get any damage increase, only healing and faster knockup. shyvana, master yi and jax do get a nice damage increase, but it doesnt break them because their damage is counterable even if they deal super high damage. the CONDITION they need to fulfill to deal damage is counterable, so its possible to stop them from dealing damage at all or at least most of it, and as long as this condition doesnt change, they are not imbalanced even if they would deal double damage. this is truth.

katarina on the other hand has uncounterable damage. her QEWR combo is instant and deals damage guaranteed, even if you interrupt the R quickly. there is literally no counterplay to katarinas initial damage, thats why if you increase that damage, katarina now deals more damage for sure but shyvana doesnt, even if you double her damage.

some champions are made so they can deal uncounterable damage. for example, talon has (almost) uncounterable damage because of how instantaneously it comes in. but the difference is that if you increase talons damage, he still only deals that damage and then has cooldowns. katarina on the other hand can get a reset and then deal instant uncounterable damage again. increasing this damage by 15% would change her dramatically.

Sorry about saying Runeglaive, I was still talking about Devourer. Watching LCS today and they were talking about it. LOL

Anyway, I understand what you are trying to say. Yes, their damage is SOMEWHAT counterable to an extent, BUT if that were the norm, none of those champions would ever be viable in any meta or any level. They have CC to ensure that they get some of their damage in every time.

I'm still blown away by you saying Xin doesn't get a damage increase. It is bonus damage on EVERY attack! So of course he gets a damage increase, especially since he has an AS steroid ability.

AyRe CoNteMpT1 votes

well, xin gets bonus damage from the item but EVERYONE IN THE ENTIRE GAME gets that bonus damage, it has nothing to do with the kit and xin has no special advantage from it. his attack speed boost is nice but many champs have that. go play tristana with devourer, she gets the same bonus, she has a better steroid and sated double procs her bomb so thats nice too i guess.

you see? this makes no sense. xin doesnt gain anything special from devourer except if you build AP-xin to heal good but well, you see, i wouldnt call that optimal either.

also, can you explain to me where master yi and shyvana have cc? i missed that part. sure master yi is sure to always get in alpha strike plus one auto. thats what he can do guaranteed. everything else is counterable. shyvana has even less guaranteed damage as she has no uncounterable gapcloser and her attack windup is longer so you can even cancel her first auto attack. her advantage over yi tho is that she deals more damage than him and also deals it faster.

so, you understand my point and thats good.

as you can see, kayle has a benefit from sated due to her shield which makes her damage somewhat uncounterable for a duration. its still counterable with team effort but if you need more than one or 1.5 champions to counter another, its allready a big advantage. thats why kayles damage is definitely way too high with it and i would even say without it. kayle just shouldnt be a hyper damage dealer.

also, one other champion its completely broken on (not because he gets so much benefit from it but because its the PERFECT item for him) is trundle. before devourer, he had no really good jungle item for himself and even with the normal devourer he was strong, but now with sated it increases his dueling power just by the bit he needed to be unduelable by anyone in the game. really absurd champion right now, and he scales about seven times better than shyvana.

devourer increases any on-hit effect damage by 50% overall or 100% every second hit

Better than literally the past 10 jungle metas.

Yeah man, such a great meta.

I hate this item because of all the jungle vayne that are ruining every game. She works as a jungler but at least know how to play it
