They removed it because they were afraid that Fiora would just pick the support and kill him, making the next team fight 4 v 5 but apperently they decided to use it again. Interesting
I suspect thematics have something to do with it. One of Runeterra's best duelists opting to challenge the weakest duelist on the enemy team doesn't feel thematically appropriate, while the Lord of Death picking someone he can dominate and destroy does.
It looks like the ultimate CC. Just build pure tank and ult the carry. they can't kill you and they can't kill anyone else.
It actually makes it a 4vs4 + 1vs1
I'm going to assume that some support players might build a Mejai's Soulstealer as a low-priority item.
