I just popped in the Kayn mains reddit and it seems now Deathfires are the keystone to go on him now.

FIrstly, kayn's transformation bar is gated on how many times you attacked the enemy, meaning DOT is very good at stacking it fast. I got a 8 min transformation by 3 gank assists than the normal 12 min. Also, if you go S.A Kayn, the damage from the burn is very statisfying since you stack raw AD. And another good point is that the DOT marks enemies for your ult longer which makes him more easier to play.

Shadow kayn passive also multiplies the damage it does.

at any rate if your planning on going the shadow transformation then deathfire would be the way to go but if your planning on going the tank transformation then it might be different.
