PSA to Bronze Players

This is a special message for if you main any of the following champions. I have some solid advice for all of you, so just bare with me.

Azir Cassiopeia Ekko Evelynn Fiora Mordekaiser Orianna Olaf Rengar Riven Rumble Singed TwistedFate Skarner Urgot Yasuo Zed

If you are in bronze and main any of these champions, I have a valuable piece of advice for you:

PLEASE STOP

Ok, that sounds kind of rude, but hear me out. All of these champions have complicated mechanics in play, and/or require a high level of skill in the game, which you.... 90% of the time do not possess. Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling you bad. I'm just saying that you're making bad choices. Now, I'm not going to break it down for each and every champion, what makes them difficult to play. I'd have to do the equivalent of a research paper to go over it all.

When I see these champions and I'm laned against them, I get excited because I know I can pick any of my mains and have a high possibility of success, but when I see them on my team, I desperately want them to switch champions, because I know that they're not ready for them yet. If I were in high silver (like, Silver 1) I may let them go, but any lower than that, I don't care how many games you have on this champion, I don't care how well you did last game, I don't care about your only slightly positive record with them (yeah, going 7-6-x is NOT a good KDA, even if you win).

I may be hurting myself by saying this and helping a lot of people in Bronze get better, but I just cannot stand these people on my team, especially if they get toxic and tilted when they lose, and blame everyone else for their own ineptitude. Not to mention, if you're bronze, you won't be able to play these champions well, because in Bronze you have no opportunity to learn the things about the game that you need to know in order to play these champions correctly. There are too many distractions in Bronze for you to adequately identify and learn from your mistakes.

Please, put your pride aside, look at your win rate, and switch champions. Do it for your placement in ranked, and do it for your team. Please.

EDIT: Removed Nunu from the list, because the only thing that makes a bad Nunu is when they try to counter-jungle without knowing how, or going support Nunu and feeding hard.

The only champion I do not agree with you is Nunu. And here is why.

Nunu is meant to be a beginner jungler. He's a champion that lets new players get adjusted to how the jungle works, the damage it does, etc while not risking dying or the frustration of barely coming out of camps alive. His Crunch ensures that. His mechanics are also very simple. You toss a snowball, slow your target, blood boil your ally/ ally who benefits from it most and crunch a minion along the way.

Nunu teaches very basic skills that beginner junglers like WW do not. They teach how important it is to pay attention to your cooldowns, decision making and why you're making said decisions (Blood boil), infinite sustain in the jungle so it's hard to fall behind because the jungle itself was overwhelming, and common sense in that you need to learn when to use your ult effectively. He's a speedy champion with practically a permaslow and so long as a new player understands not to swear by Jihad, I personally believe Nunu is a great place for noobs to start. His skill ceiling isn't really high, tbh. Besides basic mechanics, there's not much more a pro can do with Nunu than a noob.

Yeah, I think I'ma remove him. What really gets on my nerves is these Nunu's that try to counter jungle, only to feed the enemy jungle really hard. People try to counter-jungle nunu without knowing how to counter jungle.

This is very true. But even so, I wouldn't rank Nunu with the rest.

I'd also personally add Zed, but that's just me.

Yeah, I ought to. When AD champions aren't just strong in general (see how they just got Duskblade, and all of their items changed this season, namely BF sword) Zed is actually way out of the league of many bronze players. Right now, he can win by mashing his face on the keyboard against a lot of mages who just don't have options to deal with him, but overall if he were at the state he was before, he'd still be strong, but it would be locked behind a skill ceiling.

Pretty much the same reason Rengar is on the list.

Rumble and nunu on there???

You have not seen how bad people in bronze can be with these champions. Seriously. Whiffed ults, Trolling with Nunu support, and generally not knowing their champion's mechanics, or knowing what their champion is meant to do. I have seen some of these champions played so horribly, that I don't know how the people playing them haven't caught on.

Also, I did remove Nunu from the list; people musing him and doing fancy shit is the problem, not the champion. the only real time Nunu is bad is when someone tries to counter jungle with him (When they don't know how to counter jungle) or when they try to run support Nunu.

Rengar takes skill? news to me.

Sometimes, when he's on an upswing, he's dead simple to play and you can win teamfights by smashing your face on the keyboard. But when he's at a state where everyone generally agrees that Rengar is at a healthy level of power, Rengar falls off the map and becomes irrelevant... about 55-75% of the time in Bronze.

I mean, if you want to tell me how to play, please do.

DeloricVI2 votes

Couple things with this.

  1. Mastery =/= being good at that champion. Yes, it implies that they are good, and generally says they are, but not always
  2. I said Bronze; some people in silver can possibly get away with playing Azir.
  3. I never said there weren't exceptions; In fact, I state that only most of the time these champions are too difficult to learn in bronze. There are some people that these champions will click with and they can be great with them on low elo.
  4. Notice how there's no one in bronze on that list?

And I'm not denying any of this. What I was trying to say, but admittedly didn't ACTUALLY say much pointing at it, was that you shouldn't be telling people who to play.

It's advice, they can take it or leave it. I'm maybe being a little forceful, and this does somewhat coming from a place of frustration. However, I am giving advice here. You can decide I'm wrong and continue to do what you've been doing. Or whoever reads it can.

Some of these people in bronze are way too proud to admit to themselves that they're not ready for some of these champions, and some of these people need a wake-up call.

Fiora takes skill

DeloricVI1 votes

You have no idea how many times I see this champion and she just dies constantly. It's not as bad as before her rework, but some people just don't get Fiora. That or they haven't mastered her parry yet. Either way, this champion is not consistent at all in my ranked games.

shyv1 votes

it has nothing to do with fiora being "high skill" it's just the fact that you're in bronze 4 so all your teammates are going to be shit regardless of the champ they're playing.

if they were playing someone simple like garen i doubt they would be doing any better if they don't understand the basics of wave control minion aggro and when to trade.

DeloricVI1 votes

There is. Some of these champions are undeniably hard to play as a bronze player. The thing is that, if my allies don't have those skills, it's likely that some of my enemies don't as well. Fiora is one of those champions on the list that is kind of on the edge of being too hard to play in bronze, mainly because she isn't that safe, even with her parry.

What I have noticed is that champions on the list (especially Ekko, being very common) lose so much more often

Also, these skills are easier to learn when you're not struggling with a kit that's too complicated for you.
