Can we Talk About "GGEZ" For a Second?

So, I hope I'm not alone in this... but this is the most goddamned frustrating and infuriating thing I think anyone can do during a game in league of legends. It is 100x worse than flashing your mastery, or just generally trash talking, because at least then, there's some kind of warning, and you can mute them at your leisure.

But, someone can be completely silent until the end of the game, and then comes the dreaded message in all chat:

GGEZ

Why? I think this should be a reportable offense. Trash talking, I think is not reportable, because that's part of the game. It serves a purpose. Putting your opponent on tilt is not the same as being toxic. However, when the game is over, there is no point in putting an opponent on tilt, other than being an asshole. Unless you're playing at a time where there are barely any people on the server, it is highly unlikely that you will have another game with any of the enemy team's players, especially considering that they just lost mmr, and you just gained mmr. So, there is literally no point to this stupid phrase.

I'm dead serious on this - I have had to stop playing because this phrase got me so pissed off. Otherwise, if these people would have said only "gg" or nothing at all, I would have probably been fine to play another match. It's annoying to lose. It's even more annoying (bordering on frustrating) when your team feeds, and ultimately makes you look like you don't know how to play, but on top of that, when someone throws this shit into the mix, not only does it compound that frustration of losing, how unfair it feels that you lost because it wasn't necessarily your fault, and also a taunt from the enemy team

Combine that with how I feel about the phrase in general, and you have a sure-fire 4-letter tilt-generator.

And, before you start typing in the comments "Well, maybe you're actually bad and you should have carried," remember that no one thinks like that. Not to mention, it's incredibly unclear whose fault it is that you lose a game. You could have a game where no one fed, but you still got hard stomped in 20 minutes because the jungler just didn't do anything other than farm, or the person who went top never grouped for teamfights and never managed to get anywhere split pushing. There are about half a million things that someone could do that could cost the entire team the game that aren't immediately obvious.

It's probably the most disrespectful thing you can say to somebody in this game, barring hate speech and such.

I'm all for taking a good-natured jab at your opponents from time to time, but subverting the convention of telling somebody "good game" after a competitive match and instead telling them that their efforts were meaningless is the peak of unsportsmanlike conduct.

I think this should be a reportable offense.

It is. Not enough to get someone punished if that's the only thing, but it does contribute.

If you ever feel like something should be reported, then do so. That's how the system learns. Things like "GGEZ" weren't classified originally as toxicity, but as the community reported it, the IFS picked up on it and added it.

I don't think there's anything that tilts me more than GGEZ. They can call me a noob, a bad player or whatever else, but for whatever reason, GGEZ is what drives me up the wall. I know it shouldn't and I just need to brush it off. But dammit it's such poor sportsmanship. Let's just all agree to keep it at GG in good faith, and leave the EZ out.

Doesn't piss me off, like that. But is is generally annoying. And rather spammy.

Would definitely be in favor of this being punished. It's just poor sportsmanship.

If you can't take some trash talking, you shouldn't be playing a competitive game.

There is nothing toxic or inherently malicious or violent about GGEZ. Its just trash talk.

Grow some skin.

EL HAMSTERO2/2/2018, 4:34:37 PM3 votes

if 4 letters from some random kid make you this upset you should be looking at yourself and improving your own attitude.

ggez is about the mildest trash talk ever. the only reason they are writing it is because its hilarious when someone gets upset over such a tiny thing.

think about it. you had to stop playing because one of your opponents Might send you a short G rated message. that is completely crazy. the problem is not with them it is with you.

they're just gloating. I don't think that's a punishable offense. they're just jerks.

sleepysithlord2/2/2018, 5:09:29 PM2 votes

Turn off all-chat like I do. In my case I do it so I can't flame my teamates in all-chat. All-chat is a trap

I don't think it's a reportable offense. I think it's poor in terms of sportsmanship and basically shows they're a bad winner, but is that really just makes me block them in the end because I don't want to ever play with such poor sports like that.

i say it if they piss me off in game to tilt them in future games becuase why would i want people that piss me off to win future games

DarthNocturnis2/3/2018, 12:20:14 AM1 votes

It is reportable. It is not punishable in and of itself, but if it gets reported enough, those who continue to say it will be punished.

Annoying, hate it, but not severe enuff for punish. :o

i already said my comment that made me laugh. Now let me talk from the heart.

If this goes away than there will be something else that is offensive. Seriously get over. You are the product of millions of years of evolution and this is the breaking point in your life.

i am absolutely tired of even seeing these qq posts about this. personally i ignore most of them, but its a flood and it gets old. Get off this train and suck it up butter cup because this world is not all rainbows and unicorn farts.
If you lost because someone else messed up... so be it. why even take offense? even pointing out basic things would piss you off. and i dont want to do it because i assume i know how you will take it and it is in no way my intent to hurt anyone's feelings. I just feel that accepting where you are at is a starting point to moving to the next point. let me demonstrate

Your feelings where frustrated because you played a ranked game and lost. you were mid lane and the enemy mid laner roamed and you just stayed and stacked your veigar stacks. The enemy mid laner became fed and proceeded to get out of control for you to deal with. your team lost quickly .. (< 25 min) and as the final straw in your eyes ... someone said GGEZ.

now the hard facts and take them for what they are because i want to help. I dont know why its just my personality.
-You are bronze. -(unless this is a troll post than my friend you got me) You need to take some responsibility for your games.
-i will tell you my secret to winning games. and i only use it when i get tired of losing. Get your screen cap ready for this gem. I decide to stop dieing so much. So it is my goal in the following game to stop getting caught. Stop following people to death... Just basically stop dieing as much as i can. and you know what happens? i win. i know when people say GetGud and they never tell you the secret.

This is the secret that works for me and at the end of the season i will either be plat or G1 from taking a break and dropping rank.

Your welcome. and i want to leave you with a simple 4 letter word #### ### and good night.

I have /ALL chat turned off. Problem solved bb. Why would I want to listen to the opposing Darius flex in chat anyways?

Trespassers4/6/2018, 2:36:53 PM1 votes

It's funny lol

ValyrianBlade4/6/2018, 9:00:55 PM1 votes

If you tilt that easily, you're losing games from them saying this; which means in game when you're not tilted, you're better than your MMR indicates; which means in your Games you're generally going to be better than your enemies.

Result: a player at the correct ranking tilting you down, helps him place above you in the ladder, rather than below.

So there's your purpose. Now use it to stop tilting?

In all seriousness, GGEZ comes up in two ways: 1 - sarcastically after a really long and close game / comeback: where it's kind of funny 2 - after a stomp where the guy who got carried says it as a backhanded way of thanking his team for making his life easy that game.

I've rarely (if ever) seen the guy that hard stomped his Lane and crushed all game say GGEZ at the end of the game. Maybe a few smurfs, so report those guys and move on (they likely aren't real smurfs, but new accounts because the main got banned).

I feel like it's fine if you lose and say it.

TempName748144/7/2018, 1:34:03 AM1 votes

i say ggez when i lose. anyone who gets upset by it is so incredibly fragile, they should probably go outside for once.
