making the game less skillful

pretty ironic that at about the same time riot decided to do away with muramana toggle (thus making the game less skillful), dota 2 decided to make kunkka's w cleave an active ability (enabling more skillful use of the ability).

interesting to see one game getting dumber and the other getting smarter, especially since the comparison has always been that dota 2 is more cerebral than league. i guess the trends match the historical identities.

The game is less skillful not because of an item but because the damage has been increased to terrible terrible portions where its about twitch reactions and apm rather than tactical skill. The meta is to get fed and then snowball right now and it's stupid that is all there is to this game right now.

low times to kill are a problem, yes (i've written an article about that exact topic), but i'm looking at a small facet of the game with this post. it's just an interesting thing to note that muramana got less skillful and kunkka got more skillful via pretty much exactly the opposite set of changes to a very similar mechanic.

Please go back to Dota 2.

can't even play both games and fairly compare both games without getting spam downvoted by Riot Sheep

smh

"fairly compare" As though 1 change in the games is accurate enough to conclude a reliable summary of both games. If you wanted to compare both games, you have to go in depth with evidence that isn't objective, otherwise it has no real evidence to back up your claim, therefore making it a stupid post.

Also, you are going to a specific game's forums to compare it to their rival game, when you know the only players who see this are biased to league. That's like going to North Korea and saying America is better, you simply can't expect that to go well.

This post makes you look either stupid or a troll. Congrats, you played yourself :)

i'm literally comparing a single item with a single ability. honestly if your guys' reading comprehension is this awful, i can see why this is downvoted.

if you wanted to go into full detail, you'd realise that dota is indeed more skillful and more cerebral than league, but that's another discussion for another time.

idk maybe you're just salty you never remembered to turn on your mura

Only time I've used muramana was for Jayce (who I don't play at all). I couldn't care less if Dota was harder than League, I still have fun with League.

The fact that you expected a positive response to you comparing League to Dota on the league boards was stupid beyond comprehension. You posted this knowing that your audience was biased towards league, and your response to negative feedback is by calling us immature and insulting the community further.

You never posted this to correctly compare league to dota, you posted this to troll the boards and I would hate for you to get away with it.

lol i expected civil discussion at the very least

you couldve just opened up with the "skill level doesnt matter b/c i have fun" statement and we coulda had a decent discussion there, but i guess your first instinct is to insult a perfectly valid point and pick a fight.

My first comment pointed out all the flaws in your original post and how inadequate it was to be comparing League and Dota together under a single item change. I pointed out that you posted this knowing that others would disagree with you, and how stupid it was that you got offended when other's disagreed with you.

If you have a problem with someone criticizing the legitimacy of your post (including the motives of posting it) than maybe respond with the proper reasoning and evidence needed to disprove my comment. I never insulted you, I insulted the post, you were the one that actually insulted the readers directly. You are acting like a hypocrite and need to either

  1. understand that your post was a stupid idea and take responsibility for it or
  2. grow some thicker skin to criticism, because dear lord your only responses have been full of butthurt and personal insults.

Show that you actually meant what you said, because every time you resort to calling people "Riot Sheep" or insult our reading comprehension, or try placing the blame on a criticize of your post, you lose respect and legitimacy to your post and it sends the message that you were just trying to troll. This is really just basic debating skills.

bud dyou really wanna have the discussion about game development and balance and why removing even small skillful interactions is harmful to a game's health? if you want to, we totally can. if you're just here to call my post stupid and flawed, and then meta-debate me about the quality of my responses to your already vaguely irrelevant responses, then i'm not sure why you're here.

all right, how about you address the actual point and observation being made? how do you feel about LoL becoming steadily less skillful, not just through the mura change but through many, many changes over the years? how do you feel about LoL's direct competitor becoming steadily more and more skillful? how do you feel about needless meddling in items that are perfectly balanced when glaring balance issues have existed for 8+ months?

or does none of it matter to you, because you just play the game for fun and aren't invested in the competitive health of the game? that's perfectly fine too, but i just wish riot would decide which one they want to cater to and balance around: casual fans or the competitive scene.
