Does League have the most advanced vision system of any MOBA / RTS?
I was researching the different MOBAs and some old RTS games trying to see what kind of options they had for gaining sight, going invisible, gaining information, and using stealth (in the true sense of the word: covert and careful movement and action.)
None that I've found have as many instances of invisibility or unique ways of getting sight and information as League. When those things exist they're always very minor, just a few cases, and they never really play a major part in the game (which in RTS games especially is more about building up your forces and fighting dudes.)
And people say DotA2 does invisibility and vision really well, but from what I've seen the instances of invisibility are virtually total and absolute. There are no tell-tale signs or clues or anything that gives those heroes away, and there are no detection abilities (in the sense of what Rek'Sai and the Sweeping Lens do.) The ways of getting sight in that game are very few and far between whereas almost every champion in League has at least one ability that'll grant sight or gain sight of an area. To counter invisibility in DotA2 you need one of a handful of specific items that hard-counters it.
I'm not hating on DotA2 though. I also looked at Paragon, EPIC Games new MOBA shooter and they have one hero that can go invis. I looked at StarCraft 1 and 2 and in both games they have a handful of units that go invisible. I thought about games like Command & Conquerer and Age of Empires and none of them really explore sight and invisibility from what I've seen. Overwatch (technically not a MOBA but it is a League competitor) has one hero that can go invisible but doesn't really explore different ways of getting vision on the enemies from what I've seen of it.
