Is it me or is Xerath's Q..

... a little bit too hard to dodge? I was in a match playing Katarina vs Xerath and I went boots + pots as starting items and he could reliably hit his Q. Even when I was walking away when he charged and randomly started moving I feel like the blast delay is just a little too short to sidestep (it still connects). Add in the fact that he can cancel his poke at will and refund mana makes him very hard to lane against as melee.

So naturally I was thinking that it was my own skill and I just failed to properly juke it but I still had problems even after buying T2 boots. So he could still blast those long range Q's without slowing me and often I could not sidestep move in time. It definitely wasn't lag because I have 10-15 ping. I feel like since the rework his Q became harder (if not nearly impossible) to dodge without significant movement speed items.

Anyone else notices this or is it just me sucking hard?

Let's nerf Xerath too so we can play mid Vayne. Nerf nerf nerf, we only need this. It's the best way to balance.

During the laning phase give him a choice: do I Q the minions, or my opponent? Don't let him do both, since his damage doesn't get reduced by going through people and it's a good farming tool. He will go OOM much more quickly if he has to Q both you and his minions, or lose farm.

as a xerath main, just walk around like a retarded duck. seriously, drunk ducks are hard as hell to hit, especially when you lead us on and than suddenly change direction

It has a charge animation AND a cast animation.

Any half decent xerath can easily hit both farm and the enemy with his Q at least 3/4's of the time. Sorry.

TBH, I'm okay with any nerfs to the long range AP Burst mages just for the fact that I think they don't have enough weaknesses to cover up their massive range. It's like, they have so much safety from being long range, while still doing as much damage and having as short CD's as up close risky mages.

well it's not a nerf Xerath thread in any case I just want some tips on how to lane vs him.

I will avoid standing in the minion wave so he can't hit me and minions at the same time that's some good advice

It's hard to dodge.

Consider just accepting that you'll probably get hit and pressuring him in response. Xerath really doesn't have much behind his Q; if you E onto him as Kat, he's going to struggle to handle it.

its one of those skillshots that you have to dodge via anticipation. use his charging animation as your queue to start juking. don't just move in the same direction, move like you're drunk and its much harder for him to aim.

Be careful of off screen snipes too. A trick I see a lot is when the wave is pushing towards you xer players can charge in the fog and try to surprise attack, giving little time to react.

it is a bit annoying to dodge imo

Shunpo if you need to.

Honestly, Xerath's Q might be too easy to hit, but his ult is on the too hard side.

Also, he can't cancel it at will. It gets canceled if something interrupts the channel or if it times out on him.
