Tank Ekko jg is a thing and always has been. I also see Ap Ekko jg. Is runnic echos an indirect buff to ap Ekko since you no longer need ludens. It ult heals you for like 25% . But which is better

It really depends on your team comp, but generally if you choose Ekko you are trying to deal more damage rather than take it. Play both and see how it goes.

Correct, although if your team really needs a tank that badly there are much better options IMO. What I mean is if one of your tank-intending teammates is feeding and cant get the items then building a little tankier would not be a bad idea.

I personally prefer and got to rank 5 Ekko on Tankko Jungle. Being able to soak up a lot of damage and then get a bunch of it back with your ult, and having a huge initiation/zoning tool that you don't have to be scared of insta-dying if you fuck it up are also nice. And his ganks make up for his lack of base damages early on. Just being able to blink single target to somebody usually earns you the flash every time
