Why are the "Dumbass" level champions so rewarding in this game?

FederationFurry··2 votes·1,088 views

Garen = One R on something with half health = Kills them Darius = One R on something with half health = Kills them Nasus = One Q on something with half health = Kills them MasterYi = One Q on something with half health = Kills them

Why are champions that were obviously designed for people who lack the precision to use skillshots so rewarding? I do fail to see why these champions are even decent if it wasn't for favoritism. I've never seen Darius get any significant nerfs and he really only needs one 1 lucky kill to snowball into a monster?

Plus they get access to speed boosts that turn them from slow and powerful (as they were designed) to ridiculously overpowered because they get too much speed from abilities/runes/items etc.

Why?

Like legitmately asking? Why? Why does Riot insist on rewarding people who don't display any mechanical skill whatsoever... hell even assassins are arguably more skilful despite the million escapes?

Why exactly is this fair or deserved? Can anyone give me an answer or are you going to downvote for raising a valid point?

because they are actually hard to function with in respectable level of play Do you know how perfect your macro and in lane decision making has to be to win a game in Masters with Garen? Lets not talk about Nasus who gets destroyed in lane by everything and their mothers

easy champions get harder to win with the better you become at the game

I've heard this excuse made countless times.

No, its not me. Its crappy game design. There is no point learning a more difficult champion when the easier ones do the same thing for less skill. Its just common sense really.

no it's not

you need introduction to game

learn to play garen before you learn to play yasuo

it's called progression progression which you skipped in order to try to prove that your epenis is bigger than someone elses

FederationFurry1 votes

The problem is that Garen can compete with Yasuo, making it POINTLESS to progress and besides, Yasuo isn't really that much of a step up in himself. He has loads of safety with his free shield, no resource management, infinite potential mobility and is able to block every projectile in the game. How is that harder?

i can't even take you serious after that comment

I was tempted to walk op over how to deal with yas passive. Explain that CD and stacks are resource management. And provide a guide on how to judge Yas mobility at any time off the position of units and his current location.

Instead I figured its best to respond to his thread as a whole and linked Extra credit. (Check it out if you haven't seen it orn my good fellow.)

Just kite them. - All abusing bruiser mains

Shmeeve2 votes

Nasus however is VERY difficult to kite because of that slow

FederationFurry2 votes

My problem is I don't see why I should bother learning how to land multiple skillshots for optimal damage and effect when a blockhead like Garen, Darius and Nasus can just walk into a fight and press one button. It was the same problem as Volibear's bite a few years ago, its just too easy to do and gives too much reward compared to a champion that requires skilful aiming.

They don't take precision or awareness to really play and I just don't see why people need to be rewarded for that. Most tanks/bruisers have some kind of skillshot they need to aim. (Darius's does not count because of how wide it is)

Madsin251 votes

100% agree man.

However the circle jerk bruiser mains will forever claim you can and must kite them.

FederationFurry1 votes

Its the fact that these champions WOULD NOT be a problem and would be balanced if they could STICK to being SLOW (Like they were designed) rather then having the 100 speed boosts that Riot give out on items and runes these days.

Madsin251 votes

Atleast you can counter slows with phase rush.

Speed boosts coming at you well thats another story. (looking at you Garen )

FederationFurry1 votes

Exactly my point, Bruisers especially have access to too many speed boosts from items, runes, abilities etc and this makes these champions VERY easy to play.

Garen's the worst of the 3 lol

Even if they are easy, as you claim, it is also easier to play around them. Sure, Darius is strong, but when you learn his patterns, he becomes someone that you can position against. Same eith your other examples. They almost always telegraph their actions.

Juggernauts are not as tanky as pure tanks, and they don't deal so much damage compared to fighters. You need to understand their weaknesses, then you can beat them and avoid getting Q'd to death.

Pretty much this (though I will always have a lasting hatred for how strong darius is)

Sure, they are easier to play, but they also have less agency, so to speak. They are stuck into a few patterns of play, that if they don't work out, the champion instantly becomes useless.

Harder champs tend to have more agency, and more of an ability to adapt their play to the situation

FederationFurry1 votes

Yet they get massive amounts of free speed, rune damage and other goodies from a biased rune system that completely favours these types of champions and AD champions in general. Never seen Arcane Comet or Summon Aery be as big a problem as Conquerer, Aftershock etc.

There isn't a difference in power between what you would classify as an "easy" champion vs a "hard" champion. Both tend to deal similar damage while the "easy" champion tends to be more reliable in dealing that damage.

So the question becomes why choose the "hard" champion since they give up reliability? The answer is pretty simply -- because those "hard" champions have a more fluid kit that allows them to not be as predictable and are able to adapt to the situation.
