Thresh is too much of a "safe pick"

Remember when Maokai got nerfed because he was too much of a "safe pick" for top? What about Thresh? He's had the highest pick rate of any champion in plat+ (and the highest overall pick rate) games for a really long time now (and he's had an extremely high pick rate in LCS/Worlds). Perhaps it's because he has 1100 range with his 'q' (meanwhile Blitzcrank only has 900 range with pull). Or maybe it's because he can flay an entire team potentially. Or because he can save anyone who screws up with his lantern (and also gives them a shield). And let's not forget his ult with almost a 100% slow that can hit multiple enemies. Thresh is simply too good right now. He has the best engages among supports, and offers more safety than anyone else.

Blitz>Thresh any day.

Thresh is safer, overall sorta better, but his hooks suck. A good Blitz who can hook you is going to get your team fed, especially the adc at the start.

I win way more games than I do with a thresh lol.

Thresh hook has higher range tho. It also feels better to use (at least for me), doesnt cost 1/3 of his mana, doesnt get less effective the closer you are to your target, acts as a gap closer/ escape and has less cooldown at higher levels + a 3 second cooldown refund on hit... Worth

Your opinion. Tho it is true about the mana and everything else.

I think Blitz hooks are better. Also a little harder to dodge since it seems they come flying at you compared to a slower Thresh hook. Blitz can just speed up if need, zoom past and around minions to get you.

When he hooks you, even at level 2 early game down bot lane. His hook, and combined knock up along with the adc tagging you is enough to kill you right then and there, and more often than not, it is! If it isn't, then just use ignite if you run ignite bottom lololololol.

At 6, it's good game for anyone who gets nailed by his hook.

Luckily the hooks don't always land, but you'll get hooked eventually tho during the game. A good Blitz is way more toxic than a good Thresh.

Idk... Thresh just seems like he has the perfect kit all around, while Blitz just has a pretty good hook, thats it. His knock up is strong too but its melee and single target, it rather take a "ranged" aoe knock back/ mini pull+ good slow, his W is neglectable as long as his team isnt ahead by a lot and his ult does nothing late game either unless you need to interrupt a channel.

I can't agree with the safeness of thresh simply because I can usually outplay one as blitz or even maokai. Yes thresh has the range covered but he NEEDS the range to remain safe until he can become tanky. Meanwhile at low levels a single well placed hook or twisted advance can cause him to fall far behind his arc even if he isn't to begin with, he's only really safe because his chain is treated as a ranged attack despite being attached to him pixel wise

He doesn't "NEED" anything. It's just something that he gets for no reason.

His lantern doesn't need to be 6 seconds. There is no way of denying lantern unless you kill the person or Thresh, or have an extremely long CC chain done perfectly.

Goodness, I hate his lantern. It should just be two seconds.

He lacks everything but a heal. Good harass, peel, decent engage, can disengage, has a shield, get out of jail free card
