why does Naut's ult exist the way it is?

Mirage Seraph2 votesI know you're just complaining about one of the more well designed champs for kicks, but I feel inclined to reply regardless.
The counter to Naut is simple. Peel. His hook has a MASSIVE hitbox, this works both for and against him, it's insanely easy to block your carries from getting hooked, and the carries should understand his threat presence and not be in direct line of sight of the heaviest CC tank in the game. If he can't hook towards your carries, he can only walk. If you have a team with zero peel against a team with a Nautilus then I'm sorry but you flubbed champ select.

Yeah it's a bloody strong spell, I'd argue it's the one of, if not the most reliable source of CC in the entire game, Granted it has a rather small cast range, less than hook range, I dunno the exact value though. As well as a bloody massive CD before level 16 (Naut typically doesn't have access to 40% cdr). And here's the kicker. It's bloody slow. It's not nearly instant, unlike Annie and Malphite, it has a travel time. Reposition behind your team and away from their divers. Oh, all your mobility is off CD? Your peel is off pushing top lane or diving 1v3? Everyone sat in a line as a massive blue explosion flew towards them? Well I guess Naut is OP for that, nerf please.
