How many times have you roamed only for the enemies to just walk away when you get close? By the time you get back to your lane you've probably lost some minions and experience and you accomplished nothing by attempting to roam.

How many times have you hidden in a bush only to find it was warded and get deleted by the enemy Vayne? How awesome it would be to know whether or not you're actually safe?

Seriously. Get Oracle of Alteration and buy pinks when you can instead of keeping the standard yellow trinket. You'll be much more useful to the team later as the game goes on, and most importantly, you can roam freely without fear of being revealed.

some mages like Velkoz or Xerath benefit from using item 3363 more than the others as well

Definitely. It's ultimately just about moving away from item 3340 and moving towards pinks wards and something else.

im a mid laner and its generally understood that the red trinket gets rid of wards but any decent player still recognizes immediately that someone is coming because their ward is gone. invalidating "to be sneaky and prevent players from backing just buy a red trinket"

the secret to any good gank is to get behind them and force the fight with a hard numbers advantage.

its much better to take an alternate route which is unwarded or have the support/laner get rid of the ward before hand.

If you don't attack the ward then they won't be given a signal. So it comes down to a choice: Do I kill the ward, or do I let it be and try to get a kill now?

once again, vision is gone, my ward should be there, its gone, SOMEONE IS THERE. its alarmingly obvious. with or without your face showing up on their screen.

its called map awareness, you are assuming your opponent has none.

yellow trinkets are better for keeping yourself alive and they should always be taken by the majority of mid laners, even roaming mid laners should take them and help out with just making sure objs dont get stealth taken, or jungler cant freely gank.

I suppose it boils down to preference and situation.

For me, reds have worked out very well simply because in my games nobody cares to buy them, so we always have tons of wards in our jungle that everybody ignores.

If my ward suddenly stops providing vision, then I know someone either cleared it or is standing nearby with Sweeper active.

It isn't that hard to notice.

Eh if I'm planning on roaming in a match-up I will just pick up a pink, mid laners have one of the easiest times warding a large part of the map and having item 3340 or item 3363 is much more important.

Pings are just noise 90% of the time at low ELO.

Enemy laner hits their B? Yes, those 3 "?" pings were super useful, thanks for paying attention to the map guys.
Context-free blue pings with no chat. What should I do or not do?
"!" pings when the entire enemy team is aced. Danger of what?!
"!" pings when the entire enemy team is visible elsewhere. Danger of what!?

Guys, nobody on Rift is a mindreader, and unless you're in a premade with off game chat, those 4 ping options convey very little information.
