Azir, The Vision Regained

Riot, You state that Azir's nerfs have hit him pretty hard, but you don't really seem to be doing things that help Azir's original vision of a strong AA long range commanding mage. Right now, Azir players use his Q+AA with a soldier to burst down opponents, and AS isn't even bothered to get obtained really.

You want Azir to be an AP based AA hyper carry right? Then here are changes you need to do.

NERFS Q: Reduce the base damage, the AP scaling W: Make his soldiers only last 1-2 seconds under tower. remove the effect of nuking towers with it, Buffs: STATS: Buff his base AS to 6.25, Buff his AS/lvl to 2% PASSIVE: Increase the CDR->AS ratio from 1.25% to 1.75% Q: Reduce the cooldown so it's easier to reposition his soldiers W: Allow his Soldiers to attack towers, dealing 25% damage to them, Enhance the damage/lvl gained on the soldiers making them stronger at level 18.

You wanted Azir to be a champ that uses his soldiers to zone out his opponents and can easily command a legion of soldiers, and use them for his attacks, but right now, he's simply a burst mage from long range. The best way to change that, is to nerf his damage on his Q, and make it focused on keeping opponents in range for his soldier's attacks and maneuvering them. You want him to be a hyperscaling AP carry focused on Autos, then reduce his early game soldier damage, ramp up it's scaling so that it does more damage at levels 14-15 onward, increase his AS and the AS per level.

Exact change for his W soldier damage should change from 45+5/lvl to level 12 then +10 after that to 20+5/lvl to level 9 +15 from there to level 15 then+30/lvl to level 18 [This makes his damage 25/30/35/40/45/50/55/60/65/80/95/110/125/140/170/200/230/260] and leave the .6 AP ratio on the soldier damage. This makes hims stronger late game with his AAs, and reduces his damage and makes it more dependant on his AA damage rather than, Q-AA single burst damage.

Riot wants Azir to be a commander champion that uses his soldiers to deal his damage, if they want him to really be focused on his soldiers and their AUTOS, then they need to nerf his Q, and buff his AS, his soldier W damage late game, and make Azir able to constantly maneuver his soldiers to keep them in range for autos.

Would making his Q operate based on a charge-CD system suitable for Azir's intended purpose?

Add a 1-2 second delay between each charge cast, and have the charge-regain CD slightly longer than the current CD.

maybe, but I think that just reducing the CD slightly, reducing the damage even futher, and upping the slow amount would work better, though a change system could work in theory.

He would never survive lane with what you have here. You are dropping his Q damage while also making his soldiers hit for what is probably less than your normal autos for the first few levels. Dropping the CD on Q is irrelevant early on because without changing the mana costs you still run out of mana after the same number of Q's as now you will just have done far less damage with it.

Except, Azir is too safe in lane because of his early damage (At least, he was BEFORE the nerfs), Riot never wanted Azir's Q to be his main source of damage that's why the damage is 145 at rank 5. they want Azir to be able to use his Q for repositioning his soldiers. Azir's soldier's would still scale with 60% of his AP, so with some AP, they'd do just as much as his basic autos. And besides, this reduces his early zoning power, which is a bit problematic, and this could actually encourage putting Azir bot lane in place of the ADC, where he could farm up safer with the help of a support, Azir's nerfs hit him way too hard, and didn't do the right thing for encouraging Azir's role as an AP Hypercarry using autos to deal his damage, along with zoning potential by being able to constantly reposition his soldiers.

So Azir has a harder time in lane, but the changes would make him a terrifying late game monster, even moreso than he is now, because his AS is going up by a sizable amount his Passive is getting buffed and overall just becoming a stronger APC Hypercarry.
