I think blind pick in general is unhealthy.

Now this might affect people who love the jump and play mentality and the 50 second queue time, however, I think people who avoid draft (i have many friends that do) and then proceed to play ranked, I don't think its the right way to put fresh players into ranked from blind pick. They should experience a different champion select with the role selection in normal draft ideally for a couple of games and maybe understand auto fill rather than ruining a ranked game. Just a thought...

The only thing that's bad is that q times are caused by too many game modes.

1 unranked game mode, 1 ranked

This is actually true. Normal draft would have lower queue times and decrease shortages.

I think what's unhealthy is riot heavily balancing the game around the champion select screen in the way of draft pick and ranked.

I know they want the game to be competitive and what not, but players who play to be competitive will adjust to become better. Players who play to have fun, and improving is a side effect of experience, are not going to be alright with their games being decided before they even get into the rift or throwing games because they picked who they wanted to play into a counter.

You seem to think that ranked is some kind of end goal. It's not. Though riot has wanted to treat it as such for so long it's started to do harm. The only reason riot probably doesn't want to remove blind pick, is because too many people play it exclusively. If they tried to remove it, it'd probably be 100x worse than the unranked draft removal from one of the EU servers.
