should only work on spells problem solved
Then how do you proc it on people who are actually intended to use it?
Like, Annie?
I don't mean to say there isn't a problem with Thunderlord. But your suggestion is not a good one.
Using spells...
Annie doesn't AA ;-;
Lol... Did you ever play Annie?
I mean, in lane you use your Q and your W when your stun is ready, and then you back before they can retaliate. How do you proc Thunderlord if you can't use an AA for the third strike?
Syndra has the same problem, btw.
Syndra has three spells in her lane combo (if she manages to land an EQ, she could even get another Q off)
But on the subject of Annie, I haven't played her in the preseason because I'm not a fucking dick.
But you're right about laning phase. I was referring to late game.
And only once per spell. No procing it with just MF's E or Morgana's W while other champs have to use several spells & autos.
There is absolutely no issue with Thunderlord's.
The issue is with every other keystone being weak in comparison. This is why Riot are buffing all the others, and fair play to them for doing so!
If you would change Thunderlord's to proc only on spell casts, it would be weak. Insanely weak. Near-useless.
no thunder lords needs some clean up to be balanced. aoe damage zones can proc it all on there own which is dumb (ie mf e). allso i think they either need to nef the base dame or the scaling. When supports and adc are taikng the same key stone you know somethings up.
Lmao, it is already mathematically the lowest damage of the damage keystones, and it's ap scaling is complete shit.
Only reason everyone takes it is because deep cunning is better than ferocity or resolve and since Thunderlord is the only damage keystone in cunning, you have no other option. The actual keystones in ferocity and resolve are mathematically superior though.

This.
The problem with your math is that it is the abstraction ignores the impact of the higher pre-level 6 damage that champs can output.
It's strongest at the most decisive time (early game). And frequently leads to lane snowballing.
Anecdotally:
I gave a guy a hard time because he died 2x in the first 4 minutes of the game. At the 8 minute mark, I chastised him again (he had 4 deaths).
Thunderlords played a large role in this; throughout those deaths he was losing trades by just a few HP (because he had the keystone and was proc'ing it frequently, and believed that even underlevel and behind, that he still could win the trade).

Correct, but it's base value is overwhelmingly the highest.
So try again.... this time using logic and reason.
It's not what the keystone does that makes it valuable, it's how you use it (and how easy it is to use). That fact is why Sona's still a popular and powerful Champion to play as, even though a select few say that she's "technically the weakest Support in the game".
Heimer can proc it with his rockets alone. 1 spell.
Keystones should NOT be the focus of the game, they shoudl be SMALL incentives that offer SMALL buffs, not 300 free damage for no reason. The game got along JSUT FINE before these masteires came out, now the game is LITERALLY league of thunderlords. Games are determined based on who has more, and who can proc it faster. Im seeing champions like trynd, and yas take thunderlords, despite the fact they ALL took warlords when it first came out... champions who are based on critting, are ignoring the free crit sustain, to take free burst damage. ADC champions take fervor sometimes, but then lose HORRIBLY to the ADC who took the thunderlords. Even supports who have no way to proc thunderlords are taking it becuase they MIGHT get lucky and proc it during a teamfight.
The fact is its WAY too powerful for its own good.
exactly, and ad champs get to reap the benifits, Ad assassins the most on top of that, and they are getting an already broken item just for ad assassins in the works, there needs to be a reaping of thunderlords before that item hits even pbe for the game to live any longer in the termoil it is in.
Wat? Games are dependent on it?
No. You're horribly wrong.
Thunderlord's is only strong early game, late game the damage comes from items and ranked up spells. Late game Thunderlord, well for me. Only hits about 150. For some it CAN be 300+
However it's MAGIC DAMAGE.
Therefore, hint hint, Magic Resist counters it.

QFT. The reason thunderlords appears to be so good is that as it scales so does the mastery right above it (double pen). So, that amplifies the damage it does.
This was also true for DFT though. As pointed out the other masteries have been weakened too much, while thunderlords was buffed at the same time.
My guess is that the only change they will make to it is change it the same way they did to ludens to stop it from insta proccing on dot's.
Too bad. Thunderlord's Scales off AD much harder than AP,so lots of AD champions will have Thunderlord's,and even if you negate that 300 Damage, you'll still be hit really hard with the AD champion's Skills, because you have close to no armour
Well how about you let AD casters have SOMETHING good? You know, after you fucking took away brutalizer, and Last Whisper, and Occult?
yeah AD casters dont get anyhting good, we shoudl jsut buff thunderlords again so that every game can be a boring match based entirly off of who proc's thunderlrods first.
Yeah, black cleaver is 500g more expensive. Hydra and Youmuu too. And most Ad casters actually don't get
.
is stronger, but still pretty situational. I wonder if you play AD casters enough to really understand how hard a hit losing brutalizer and LW really is.
yup, what a loss.
Those items were just buffed yesterday for being too weak lol.
Yea.. I took it as Janna before... felt fine despite her having another mastery in the same row designed for shielding supports.
Thunderlords relative strength is just... too good.

Thunderlord's never should have been made. We don't need additional burst in this game.
Shaco box.
:(
Just make thunderlords only gain one stack during dot duration to make dot champs less likely to take it
Edit: And consecutive damage spells, MF make it rain for example as it isn't actually a DoT
Just tested Thunderlord's Decree on Tristana in a Bots game to see if it was really that awesome of an ability. Rapid Fire benefits because you can proc Thunderlord's so much faster, depending on the Rank. Rocket Jump benefits because if you time it right you can get both the slow and Thunderlord's for massive damage, especially if you timed it even better at a max-charge Explosive Charge. Explosive Charge benefits because even just activating it procs it, and all the attacks in between its placement and detonation proc it. Buster Shot can benefit if you time it right, but it's not as useful anymore when you're fed as all hell. Although if you don't have as much AP as you could have, that damage from Thunderlord's could be the difference between getting a kill and missing it by a hair. Quite frankly, any ADC can enjoy Thunderlord's if they have a somewhat-weak Early Game. Imagine the saltiness when you use this on Draven, who's just...Draven.
Or, DoTs does not proc thunderlords.
Thunderlords finally allows a skilled
player the chance to out-damage any other mage early game.
Something I just realized, what do you think's going to happen when URF comes around and everyone's using Thunderlord's?
