AD champions now have better CDR options than Archangel's Staff mages.

Every AP champion that builds item 3003 for mana instead of item 3174 item 3165 for mana regen is completely shafted. They spend the majority of the game stacking a very latent power item until it's at 750 mana, then they still lack any CDR options. The two best options for CDR are tacked on to mana regen items. Every other CDR item for mages is situational. item 3100 is useless for most tear users because they can't even get in an auto attack due to the nature of their kit (Anivia Cassiopeia Karthus ). Only Vladimir makes use of item 3152 . DFG was one of the best mage items and with it's removal there went another 10% cdr item., even item 3158 have been nerfed from 15% to 10% CDR.

Please give us a CDR option for tear users who don't need mana regen items. Even with scaling CDR glyphs you only reach 15% CDR at level 18. There just aren't enough options. It really never even made sense to have morello and Athene's be so similar. Two mana regen items with 20% CDR. Simply odd. This is why you never see TotG Ziggs Zyra Karma Orianna Annie . Even though they can stack it with extreme efficiency, they prefer CDR over the slight AP advantage. Veigar has a higher winrate with morello and athene's than with tear, and that's just sad because his passive works so well with extra mana, but it's obvious he needs CDR more.

tl;dr tear users have no CDR options, add one or more. AD champions have better CDR options than an entire group of mages, and that's just sad.

Mages aren't some glorified master race that should have better itemization than their AD counterparts you know.

AD Casters aren't some glorified master race that should reap all the benefits of powerful ranged AAs and also have better itemization than their AP counterparts.

Not to mention their mid-late game burst, way better compatibility with sustain items(item 3072 > item 3152 even more % too lol), and generally they're more mobile. Plus they have better masteries now.

no but they should at least be on an equal playing field

AP casters can only rely on their abilities. AD casters have extremely powerful auto attacks. Even if we did believe that AD casters have every right to as much CDR as AP casters, the whole point of the thread is that Tear users have almost no access to CDR at all. AD casters have MORE access.

I agree with everything you said but, explanation for this:

It really never even made sense to have morello and Athene's be so similar. Two mana regen items with 20% CDR. Simply odd.

Athene's has more mana regen than Morello's as well as magic resist, whereas Morello's has more AP and has Grievous Wounds when your target is below 40% health. Those are the differences, just FYI.

The differences just aren't really large enough to justify being the 2 largest CDR items for mages in the game. Morello and Athene's are almost interchangeable. Any champ who buys Athene's vs mages can buy Morello vs AD champs and vice versa, and they're never bought together. I'm not opposed to keeping both items in the game, in the same state they're in, I just feel like Riot is going to think "we already have 2 commonly purchased 20% CDR items for mages, why do they need more?".

I used to buy them together FYI. The 40% CDR is tits, the passives work well together, the stats on them weren't awful and it let me spam for years. Yeah, not everyone wanted to, but it WAS a valid option.

With the 5% CDR mastery you would end up wasting some CDR. Now it might be slightly more viable since you can get 45% CDR with that mastery, but you're paying for a ton of mana regen that you don't need unless maybe you're spamming siege Xerath/Lux.

This is justice, AP itemization dominated for 3+ years, now it's AD turn, step aside.

Again, this isn't even about AP vs AD, it's about Tear users. And lol at AP itemization being better. Since when has a mage been able to AA a few times and be at full health? Since when has a mage been able to get 250% damage on auto attacks thanks to IE?

Aren't they supposed to trade the CDR for the mana?

No they trade mana regen for mana and also have to stack an item before it's useful, and also pay more for AA staff than morello/athene's.

I know there has to be some form of tradeoff, but trading early game for lategame should be enough. AA staff has like 3 weaknesses and no strengths over morello/athenes. 50 or so extra AP doesn't justify losing 20% CDR, paying way more, and having a weaker early game.
