but is it really? I even switched back to Doran's blade to improve my CS numbers with Vladimir. I got 174 CS in 20 minutes last game thanks to the +8 attack damage included with Doran's Blade vs the +5 provided by Doran's Shield. While it might not seem likely, the additional +3 attack damage makes a huge difference if your champion has the lowest attack damage at 48 and makes it possible to farm under turret.

That's what I'm asking! Doran's shield is supposed to guard against poke, yet most mid lane champions don't have abilities that deal it.

You don't build it in every match up.you build it specifically in lanes that will poke you out or bully you with dots or occasional short trades.

I used to run Dark Seal if I knew I wouldn't take heavy harass early on in the lane, but I went back to Doran's to improve my CS.
