Warding totem has a higher cooldown than most ultimates

Hell, a few summoner spells have shorter early cooldowns. Dropping ward for basically anything other than long term vision feels so painful right now.

I want purchasable wards back. If they are worried about vision flooding the map, increase the cost and/or put a cap on it.

Personally, I think it was a very healthy and interesting aspect of the game when you could carry a game through vision control.

I can personally think of several games from years ago where I was playing support and got so good at managing vision and clearing vision that it became second nature. Teams would specifically complain in all chat about how they felt like they couldn't do anything because they never felt they had the vision to take risks, or they kept getting scouted.

So satisfying.

Purchasable wards were great. Really made you think about whether you wanted those health potions or vision control.

Also I wish we still had mana potions. Mana management is pretty binary at this point. Need mana? Take manaflow band.

Yup, Riot is so tunnel visioned on combat and cutting out any parts of the game that don't involve direct confrontation, that they are actively removing win conditions and the robust variety of strategies to get to there.

It's kind of sad. Just because games like Fortnight and other battle royale/pvp games are emphasizing short matches with super straight forward goals...does not mean LOL should emulate what they are doing. It's a totally different game.

Riot needs to remember that they got as big as they are now by being best in class, not by trying to compete with other genres. Lol was never really designed to fit the desires of the 15 minute win or lose casuals who just want to get to the fighting then move on to the next match. It was built for players who wanted to learn and implement the intricacies of mechanics, matchup, vision, item builds, macro, wave control, rotations, etc. Pulling back from those things to emphasize combat more is actively deconstructing the game and resulting in the severe backlash from the player base we see today.

The thing is though, people don't like being stuck in those 35-45 minute games because life nowadays flies much faster, and people want instant gratification PvP games, hence game lengths being shorter to suit that need. The thing is though, this heavily backfires as a lot of people don't like dying due to someone pushing a single button that says "lel you're ded". It's unfair for everyone.

I do have to agree with your statement though. League wasn't built for 15 minute deathmatches like games like CoD and Fortnite. It was built for 35-45 minute games with constant control over the mechanics and which strategies and choices were made to decide who wins and who loses. Nowadays, it's just damage numbers that decide the game, not things like wards, item choices and which lane to push that would put the enemy at a disadvantage.

I feel like Riot lost its core design philosophy of creating choice for the player and funneled it down to either you do damage or you don't, kind of like how it is in Fortnite where it's either you have the P90 and can shred people's bases and HP bars, or you don't and die within the next 2 seconds to someone who has it.

the problem was you'd be 20 minutes into the game and supports would have boots, wards and nothing else

That's why you gate it, like in Dota the shop only has a set amount in stock.

So I'd say maybe let the shop generate 1 green ward every 2 minutes. And anyone could buy it.

Also, this would be on top of the current trinkets and support vision items, not in replacement of. Think of it as supplementary vision.

Bring back item 3361 It let us actually ward, and have vision... As it stands, if your enemy laner destroys your control ward, there is going to be a huge gap in vision.

I say remove purchasable wards completely and only have one trinket that gives 1 ward on CD, no sweeper or anything. I don't think the ward game play. Also late game the warding breaks down anyway, no item slots left, so what just when warding is most critical you can't do it.
