Stat Checks in season 9

As season 9 has progressed with conqueror changes the style of game play in league has now just become if you do not have x or y you lose said fight. It has made counter play even less of a thing.

Perfect example is Jax . If this guy has counter strike up you can not fight or trade with him until it is gone. His jump allows for him to pick when to go in. Thanks though to the spear of sojin as well after he gets it he can counter strike for almost indefinitely.

Riven is profiting from spear as well and with death's dance is nigh unkillable and at max cd she gets a shield every second.

These two champs are garnishing a lot of hate not because there bad to play but because there extremely frustrating to play against. They have access to items that make them flat out better than other champs. The kits that riven and jax have are good in general but do to runes and items are way better now than they have been. Riven's mobility and engage is way up do to the cd she gets. While jax's dueling is through the roof thanks to the items.

We can look at yasuo before his buffs were reverted. He was strong purely based on the fact crit items got a buff. Same thing that is happening with riven, jax, yi, and vayne.

is stat checking harder than he ever has in league of legends. If he is ahead all he has to do to kill you is for you to not have cc or you can't burst him. Yi's statcheck in comparison to riven or jax's is less frustrating as yi does not have his own cc or dashes. While yi has major flaws in his kit items are making them seem non existent.

While tanks are relatively weak right now I do not think yi should be able to kill full armor opponents in 2 seconds. Even with thorn mail and tabi's you cant match a yi with two damage items as the true damage makes armor worthless even grievous wounds is a joke in the face of conq healing.

Any champ that can build damage should as defenses in league is made obsolete by true damage. The only way to win a stat check is to have the better stat.

Personally I have watched yi's just walk up to tanks and melt them in seconds. I can understand if yi is 10/2 but if he is 2/4 and its 17 minutes in there is no way he should be able to just walk up to full tanks and shred them in seconds.

This brings up the issue of vayne as well. She was given a buff around the same time the firecracker skin came out( pure coincidence of course). The problem being guinsoo's rageblade. Vayne will hit for like 14 percent true damage on champions with passive from guinsoos and her w. She is suppose to be played against tanks but tanks are terribad and she is still doing huge amounts of damage with a two item spike. The champ went from requiring knowledge of positioning in fights and trades to just needing to hit your attack first as the true damage and guinsoos will stat check the enemy. I do say though that she is very opressive as her damage only requires three autos to proc true.

In conclusion Conqueror, guinsoos and Spear are over bloating some champs kits to the point of if you don't have cc or flash you just lose.

Stat checks are not bad things as then they require counter play which leads to the depth a game can have. Though the stat checks that are happening now do not allow for counter play as the moment the stat check happens such as counter strike , or yi alpha. You are usually already dead by the time the ability is done or they have it again in the same fight thanks to spear.
