I think the most likely nerf we'll see to Ekko isn't his damage:

It will be one of his three Slowing skills, probably Q.

Right now Ekko can permaslow an enemy with W Q and a stacked up Passive. The Passive requires commitment, W is telegraphed and avoidable.

I predict we will see a reduction or even a complete removal of the slow on his Q as a post-release nerf.

I hope they nerf his passive and his execute. Honestly they are the only two things that are crazy on him... Think about it, His Q needs a good slow on it in order to get the damage off both ways, because of how slow it travels at the rest point. Without that slow on the tip of it, theres no way he could get the 3procs off or even the second half of the damage off.

Is there a reason you think it won't be his damage? Riot has said that they want Ekko to be a "utility assassin"; a champ with an assassin playstyle, but with lots of utility that makes him function better in teamfights at the cost of high single-target burst damage.

I think that because Ekko's current damage isn't high-burst as is. It requires commitment to triggering his passive through chained spells and autos, plus utilizing slows mobility and positioning to ensure that (A) both hits of his Q land on a target and (B) they remain confined within his stun-sphere's landing zone long enough to activate the stun+shield. Even his ultimate requires maneuvering control and planning (plus some reliance on lack of enemy battlefield awareness) to ensure his enemies are within the clone's path if Ekko wants to use it offensively.

Ekko's damage is combo and positioning reliant and can be countered by constant movement hard CC and/or silences to ensure he doesn't trap you nearby his clone or in his sphere.

Removing a slowing skill will greatly reduce Ekko's damage by making it harder for him to permaslow you and lock you down.
