Tryndamere needs to be reworked really badly (one of the most toxic designs).

Dasdi96··100 votes·17,676 views

In his current state, he turns top lane into a casino with his crit chance, and all trynd players seem to go for the level 1/2 all in and make rng completely decide the lane. The other toxic part is his ult, which guarantees him 5 seconds to do whatever the fuck he wants, and is more than enough time for him to destroy a tower past 20 min.

Also the fact that if you SOMEHOW survive laning against him, make him go 0/5 and get ahead with 60 farm, he still splitpushes your team into oblivion and yeets himself out of lane instantly with his E if you try to stop him

Welcome to pressuring. I love it, it's my playstyle and if you ignore it. You're punished.

Psycho Yas Main1 votes

and if you don't ignore it you're still punished because now you waste time being in some lane 30 km away from your team to "stop" someone who you can't kill, literally cannot kill, and if you don't die before his r runs out, he will just e away and heal with q and boom, you did nothing he will be back in 100 / 90 sec and do it all over again.

Oh I don't say Tryndamere is great design, I main Top and him deciding lane based on RNG is annoying and frustrating to play against late, even Aatrox R before his Revive got changed was more fair, since he could 'die'. But it frustrates me that people just copy popular streamers words and don't come up with own things.

Wouldn't have bothered me if it had been posted yesterday, but just as hashs new Video about Tryndamere comes online..quite the coincidence.

First off all, he doesn't upload any Videos on his Streamhighlight Channel, lul. And if you are telling me GPs gameplay is braindead, why does he have a 46-48% WR in EUW below Masters, but once you hit Masters he gets to 55+? Maybe because he is one of the mechanicly hardest Champs in the Game? :o

Step 1) Take Grasp, inspiration for biscuits and start corrupting Step 2) Spam your ranged Q on cooldown with no downside because you have infinite mana Step 3) You now have 50 procs of Grasp and have won the laning phase as a late game champion

Not braindead gameplay

SuicidePlank1 votes

I'm pretty sure Darius can pull him when he gets Qed?

Well, basically. Darius hook is 530, GP Q is 550. But that doesn't matter, since once Darius gets Phage, GP is locked in his short Casttime, so Darius can just run up and pull him. Since you go Phase Rush + Ghost vs GP, he will get slaughtered.

AlterMordred1 votes

{quoted}

I'm pretty sure Darius can pull him when he gets Qed?

??

Unless the GP has half a brain and preps barrels? You just sit on a barrel and if Darius goes for CS you remove 1/4th of his hp bar and then Q him with grasp for another 1/8th, this is ignoring the psychological damage the Darius feels after being made into a little bitch

crippler381 votes

Q has a cast animation though and Darius' first items all give him move speed, plus he takes ghost.

I didn't even consider Phase Rush which Suicide Plank mentioned, so while GP definitely will poke Dar quite a bit, you should be able to threaten him while you have your E available unless you miss.

His Q out ranges Darius's E by 50 units, unless Darius is perma running into GP, you can Q him while he goes for CS/Backs off, if you take phase rush on Darius you deal much less damage and are too squishy for team fights as opposed to taking Conqueror/Aftershock

crippler381 votes

Imo the Phase Rush is overkill, either way early game your E should lead into if not a kill at least into a flash burnt and you should move fast enough after either Phage or boots to close that 50 unit distance faster than GP can run away without his passive movespeed.

Define toxic, you saying a champ is toxic without defining what you think is toxic design is stupid in itself. What exactly defines toxic? Only what you don't like?

Divewing8 votes

The lack of agency on either player - lane completely determined by RNG Ultimate ability that removes the vast majority of decision making from the champion

You'd think with actual game knowledge and a little inferencing, you'd pick up on this.

A lot of complaints on the boards aren't particularly valid. Trynd being a garbage design is NOT one of them.

BarbarianBoi2 votes

So in other words extremely subjective and dependent on the interpretation of the interpreter. Can be whatever I want if I throw in some words that sound unbalanced.

  1. Lane COMPLETELY rng is not only complete bullshit but a severe exaggeration of his passive mechanic

  2. Ultimate ability has a ridiculous amount of decision making and you are over simplifying it for convenience and due to your lack of understanding pertaining to the champion and game play, you likely think Trynd just spins in ults and kill -> die every time right?

Lastly, this is a invalid complaint on the board and if Trynd is to get any rework it should only be a mini rework to give him a more packed kit like other meta champions which is quite frankly going to make him actually powerful and useful in this meta.

Champ has nearly never been seen in pro play, last time was season (3). Only sort of okay in solo q yet we have people on the forums still complaining about balance and brainless kit.

Divewing2 votes

Since when is a champion's presence in pro play any indication of balance?

Trynd's kit removes agency from both players.

Trynd's damage comes from crits (rng), and his ultimate forces a playstyle like what you have described, either go in ult and kill, or go in dont kill die.

Tryndamere is just packed with mechanics based around a style of game that Riot has moved away from. He is simply a relic of what league used to be, and as such, is a mismatch between the majority of the rest of the roster.

Frankly at this point, I think you are just over emphasising the very little skill expression the champion has - makes me suspect you're likely quite biased.

What you either fail to understand, or are too biased to realise, is that being statistically balanced (which is what you are referring to - the raw numbers alone) does not necessarily absolutely correlate to actually being healthy for the game.

BarbarianBoi1 votes

Presence in pro play indicates viability in meta and Trynd quite frankly is viable in solo q and is not over powered by any standard.

Critical chance as a whole is a rng mechanic, whining about the "rng" crit passive when nearly every adc builds IE and crit items, drakes are rng (inferno, ocean, mountain, cloud) is illogical.

Should we remove crit as a whole because a a Tristana with 25% crit chance may 4 tap a vayne with crits in laning phase?

Trynds ultimate mechanic is still being over simplified by you. When you pop ultimate as Tryndamere you have to decide who you go in on, which abilities are up, sums, cc, account for incoming skill shots. Then its all about dancing around as you jump your target, after you have to decide whether you attempt to go for multiple kills, die because of a misplay, or attempt to stay alive.

"lane completely determined by RNG" - absolutely garbage and untrue, and if such is true than same can be said to all adc's after they build one crit item, Trynd has abilities and apparently you are not aware of them and how they work

"Ultimate ability that removes the vast majority of decision making from the champion" - This is perhaps the most ignorant statement as the ultimate is a complex, unique, one a kind and best feature of the champion

"Trynd's kit removes agency from both players." - Literally how? You are making a random claim with no example or evidence, big words no facts

Claiming that a champion is brainless and is all RNG was your first mistake and unfortunately you have a incredible superiority complex that leads you to believe you think in a higher realm than me and are so much wiser. You were blatantly wrong and exaggerating and instead of sucking up to it you instead try to deflect it.

Divewing1 votes

You misunderstand, Trynd literally bets THE WHOLE ENTIRETY OF CONTROL OF THE REST OF LANE PHASE WITH LEVEL 1 AND 2 CHEESE.

There is no other champion that does this because no other champion has innate access to crit chance in that way.

The only one exaggerating here is you. Every champion considers positioning, cooldowns, cc, incoming skillshots, target selection. THAT IS NOT UNIQUE TO TRYNDAMERE.

Tryndamere's ultimate is literally a statcheck - a button that forces either a free win for trynd, or does nothing because he is kited/hard ccd.

I'm done debating this with you - I made it perfectly clear in my last reply, you are biased. Your ego is so insufferably obnoxious that you have deluded yourself into believing that tryndamere is healthy and good for the game in his current state simply because of his absence in professional play - an idiotic and desperate attempt to justify a fallacy.

When you present me with legitimate support of tryndamere's kit, and not some half-baked excuses, statistics, or basic game fundamentals found in almost every champion but presented as unique to tryndamere, I may then consider actual discussion.

Until such time, perhaps youd be best to play other champions so you can actually understand just how what you claim and what is are so astonishingly different.

Currently the 8th best top champ as probably one of the, if not the easiest champions to play in Diamond

:)))))

His worst matchup is Quinn because, well ranged champ with a disengage but Quinn/Kennen are kinda taken out of the equation for all champions (Because they counter everything melee), his best counter therefore is Poppy, someone hard wired to beat champions with dashes and she comes out with a 57% WR in lane. How can one of the easiest champions in the game be S tier in Diamond with a 4.5% pickrate is beyond me

He's unfun to play against in almost every way. The only one worse was when Tahm Kench was powering through. Even if you can beat either, it wasn't at all enjoyable nor as easy as how they could just go through lane.

His Q needs to give him flat AD or AS, and not crit chance. At least then it's calculable over rng. That his ult can make him a mindless splitpusher isn't fun either, because yes, you can win a 4v5 by forcing it. However not only do you need the composition to force it, but you also need to actually win handily and push correctly. Meanwhile, the effort he takes to be able to win, is next to nothing. It's not healthy, even if it is counterable. And it keeps the gameplay choice of not even needing to interact.

Tryndamere deserves to be looked at, and I don't see how he's evaded a mini rework for so long.

reusablemeat3 votes

Tryndamere is childs play now that we have Yasuo Riven Pyke Zoe Sylas

KrypticBeing1 votes

Tryn shits on all of those except maybe riven. Riven can go even maybe even beat him in lane. Pyke is eh.

The Kombinator3 votes

Trynd is kinda hard to rework, because he is melee. This means no skillshots. I would change 2 things.

Rage gives AD bonus instead of crit chance. It would make it easier to calculate with.

Ult can't be used during CC, that prevents ability usage. So if you got 0 defense trynd, then one counter would be kill under CC before you can ult. Unless you start with ult, but in that case you would waste the time, that enemy would take to reduce your health.

Śhunpo3 votes

You haven't talked about how at 40% CDR his E has almost a 90% uptime thanks to his crits lowering the cooldown by 1 second per crit. Oh, and his E only has a 4 second cooldown with 40% CDR, so even without crits it's a spammable gapcloser/escape.

This is all WITHOUT accounting for Guinsoo's which he can and does purchase, which actually gives his E a near 100% uptime if he's able to right click anyone more than once.

GonahtanuGepardi1 votes

His crits lower the cd by 2 seconds and rageblade doesn't affect it at all.

Gallows madness3 votes

The tryndamere main logs in to laugh and spin at the same time.

Btw even though I love tryndamere he can be toxic to lane against till you hit lvl 3 riven all ins. Boy are those fun. Tryndamere is a complete rng based early on if he kills you or not. Besy way to play around it is not let him have full fury when he all ins poke him down early and it should shy away early level all ins. Aslong as he doesn't have max fury. Everything about tryndamere is calculations with rng luck

There are some champs which can destroy tryndamere. Trundle destroys him early but falls off after 4 items and can't out duel him. Jax was an = lane and tahm kench was by far his worst counter. Idk about his nerfs now.

Cameramon3 votes

Tryndamere himself is fine. Crit Chance as a whole needs to be reworked to not be random at all, just like Riot promised years ago. It ruins everything it touches, Tryndamere is just another symptom of that.

Aleksei3 votes

Agreed tbh, i think all trynd mains are bad players are just rely on RNG to win

T2K Baka2 votes

Honestly to make him balanced, make his ult unusable while stunned, silenced, knocked up, etc. This would make it more balanced, why is it kayle and kindred can't ult while cc'd but trynd can?

5kcheesesticks1 votes

lol man you guys complain about champs that don't even require attention.

All i can say is, CC.

Actually if you want a very hard counter to tryn, just go alistar. He will regret he ever choose trynd.

Zerenza4 votes

The main reason he's toxic is because of his lane phase. And Idk about you but going Alistair into tryndamere in top sounds like an awful idea.

At level 2 if he crits he straight wins against every top laner. At level 6 he can dive you for 5 seconds straight on an 80 second cool down and if you lost once to this, you'll lose every single time afterwards.

Mid and late game he's more tolerable because you can 1v2 or 3 him but here's the catch. He's the best duelist in the game, you can't send 1 person, meaning the rest of your team is left 3v4ing. The reason he's the best due list in the game is because he can outlive other duelists with his ulti even if he has a third the maximum health of one. What makes this worse is in order to prevent him from solo diving your backline you have to CC him for at least 7 seconds and idk if you've played solo que but to have a team with a combined 7 seconds of CC that's also perfectly chaining it is a miracle.

He's the biggest stat check champion in the game by a large margin and most other stat checkers have been removed why keep him?

didnt say go alistar top, suggesting you have a support counter pick him and choose alistar. There are plenty of tops that have a ton of cc. If you can't stop him with a champ who has cc then perhaps it's the player who simply isn't skilled enough. And i don't mean that as an attack im just saying thats really all it takes to counter trynd, hes an auto attack champ, he depends on autos and autos are very easy to stop. If your team is good enough they will time their cc' perfectly and render a trynd useless. Wish i can just show you how easy it is to counter him cause me just saying it doesn't mean much but if you take my word to heart you'll see what i mean. Time ur cc perfect and trynd is literally useless, that is why hes not used in high level competition.

Zerenza3 votes

Two Mistakes.

  1. Having a stranger pick something in Solo Que to help you out, doesn't happen.
  2. Having 4 other people you don't know "Perfectly" time their CC in Solo Que, doesn't happen.

I don't want to bring winrates into this, but by your logic in a game where the average skill level of the player's is higher, his winrate should be lower? But, it's actually highest in High ELO. Sure, the skill of the Tryndamere player matter's too, but considering how "Easy" it is to avoid Auto Attacks, the fact you can "Just CC him" and the crucial fact that he's completely reliant on a Stat Check RNG mechanic means that these High ELO player's should have 0 problems with him. Let me explain to you why that's not the case.

Basically, in Low ELO regardless of how easy a champion is to play there's more to Skill than mastery of a champions kit. And in plenty of match ups when playing AGAINST champions with harder kit's, your goal is to take advantage of their Micro-game mistakes AND Macro-game mistakes because trust me the lower you go the more there are, this is why harder to play champions tend to have bellow 50% winrates in Gold and bellow, the player can be exploited on both the Macro and Micro mistakes they make. Tryndamere has almost 0 skill floor and 0 skill ceiling, this is why his Winrate doesn't fluctuate much based on Games Played, but a Lower ELO player will still make more Macro Mistakes than a Higher ELO one, and the only way to capitalize on a player who's playing a champion that it's really hard to make a Micro Mistake on is to exploit their Macro Mistakes, in High ELO tryndamere player's are more experienced with the game as a whole and don't have to worry about Mechanical mistakes because there aren't any that they can make, so they win more frequently because the enemy can't exploit their mistakes, since Higher ELO player's make less Macro Mistakes.
