Make CotC's shield bonus per enemy champion have diminishing returns.

CotC's current shield value at level 18 is 54 (+5% Max HP) per nearby enemy champion. This caps at 270 (+25% Max HP) near five enemies.

If you make the bonus shield decrease in value by 20% per additional enemy champion, though...

1 Enemy: 54 (+5% Max HP) 2 Enemies: 108 (+10% Max HP) / 97.2 (+9% Max HP) 3 Enemies: 162 (+15% Max HP) / 129.6 (+12% Max HP) 4 Enemies: 216 (+20% Max HP) / 151.2 (+14% Max HP) 5 Enemies: 270 (+25% Max HP) / 162 (+15% Max HP)

Not saying that'd solve all of the mastery's problems, but it seems like a start. 15% Max HP is still a pretty beefy shield for something you get passively.

On an unrelated note, would making CotC not activate on knock-backs solve the issue of Vi and Hecarim being stupid with it, without really weakening it too much on the champions who are supposed to be using it? At the very least it keeps Vi from getting a 15% Max HP shield when she lands a Q.

(Does the game code differentiate between knock-ups and knock-backs?)

I think CotC needs to be changed but I disagree with how you want to change it. As mentioned several times, I would really like part of the scaling you get on it to scale with your bonus health vs. your flat health. This means if you're a Vi or Hec -- you cannot simply go Warrior into Triforce and still get a massive shield.

I also think it should still be active on displacement abilities; Malphite and Voli and all the other displacement tanks should still be able to use the mastery especially since it was intended for them.

5% Max Health isn't that high a number. Just as an example, that's only 150 shield if you have 3000 Health. It's hardly overbearing against a single target, especially with how high its CD is early on.

Also, I mentioned knock-backs specifically rather than all displacement because the egregious cases seem to specifically be knock-backs, in the case of Vi's Q and Hec's E. (Another part of the issue with Vi is her own passive working too well in tandem with CotC, but that's another matter entirely. They still have their ults, but I mean, those are ultimates. Plus, the diminishing returns on the shield would curb that a bit against multiple enemies anyway.)

I agree that it's not much but the issue isn't so much the mastery but rather certain champs abusing it that shouldn't be using it in the first place. Any change made to the mastery should keep in mind the fact that on most tanks it's under performing. I'm hoping they will address this with the vanguard update.
