Why isn't Sion classified as a Juggernaut?

It's in his title.

because he is a tank. He isn't a damages dealer.. The undead juggernaut is just a nickname given by other people but it's not the same thing that the "juggernaut" class. Otherwise,SIon,Hecarim,Malphite (a fckin moutain) ,chogath etc would be juggernauts

Hecarim feels more like a juggernaut to me honestly.

sadly (or gladly, depends on which end of him you are) he is too mobile and dive-y of a backline obliterator to be classified as an actual juggernaut (and his damage output to tanks isn't anything spectacular either)

Guess he's a tanky diver.

Sion has long range slow, medium range knockup , has great initiation with ultimate. Juggernauts are very immobile by default with barely any range abilities. They actually need to be in your face to deal damage, Sion can poke people from distance.

Hard engage and CC.

The Juggernaut thing needs to have a harder line established. No, he's not. Technically there's only 5, but it's really blurry. I mean, Skarner has the title of Juggernaut, but he has CC. I don't really get what the distinction is and I don't like that they established it.

What defines juggernaut anyway? I always figured it was just another word for bruiser.

It's a vague definition, but what the Juggernauts do have in common are their general immobility, little to no crowd control and range, high durability and slow but high damage output. Sion checks off on most of those criteria.

He came before they had the idea for juggernauts. Also he used to do damage and they nerfed him for it.

Because no other Juggernaut can run half the fucking map in 5 seconds?

He's not classified as a Juggernaut because he is a tank. All of his survivability is in his health stacking and shield with absolutely no sustain to go with it. Look at Garen, Darius and Illaoi; none of them have a shield, Garen has passive resistances and massive regen, Darius and Illaoi both have %missing health heals. In addition Garen has his spin+ult along with his passive for potentially ridiculous ramping damage, Darius has passive+ult for ridiculous ramping damage, and Illaoi has passive tentacles+ult. Garen has his silence, Darius has a pull and slow, and Illaoi has nothing except her awkward spirit pull/slow (not saying it's not good, just saying it's awkward cc).

Meanwhile Sion has no real sustain other than damage prevention and brings with him the potential for aoe 4 seconds of knockup/stun+slow with a low cooldown on his Q (which makes up for potentially 2.25 seconds of that cc). He also tends to be more about burst (like a lot of tanks) than ramp damage; land ult into Q into W into E and then continue dealing damage as his cooldowns allow. That said, he is simply out damaged by other Juggernauts in the long run but brings a lot more teamfight control.

For the record I'm not bringing up Skarner nor Morde as Juggernauts because they are much more awkward than the others... XD

That's the way I see it.
