@riot don't listen to anyone but azir mains

including me

already I'm seeing boards and reddit goons parroting muh thematic so they can take away the fun parts about azir, even though they never have and never will play him

don't listen to them. Go survey the opinions of actual azir mains, use that in client survey for people who come out of a game with him, hit up the azir reddit.

don't let these jags fuck it up for the mains

But wouldn't Azir mains also have the problem of not thinking Azir needs changes or suggest changes that are mainly reverts of intentional nerfs?

I know mains are more informative, but they can also be very biased.

Big Lincoln2 votes

look at the azir subreddit. they have already made many good threads about how to change him and Riot should pay attention to them

incidentally they mostly want option 1 unlike nonmains

Ralanr1 votes

I still feel like option 1 wouldn't really fix his problem.

Big Lincoln1 votes

lower range means he keeps what makes him so high skill but offers more opportunity to be counter attacked

seems like a solution to me, now he can be outranged by other champions and keeps his play making

Ralanr1 votes

Cutting down his range might make him less likely to be played in mid though if he can't deal with harass. He could end up being played in top more.

Big Lincoln2 votes

range on par with Cass won't invalidate him from mid

Ralanr1 votes

When they say to lower his range, I don't imagine it being equal to Cass more or less.

Big Lincoln1 votes

its a good estimate to compare it to other dps mages

and a shorter range azir would still be more tolerable for melees

Ralanr1 votes

I tend to think more Vlad or Swain range.

I mean they could do that, but it totally breaks what he is as a character. Azir is a leader who makes soldiers fight for him. He shouldn't play like a battlemage. He should play like a backline artillery character. I think option 2 is more fitting for him as a character. Long range, can totally destroy a fight by overwhelming his enemies but if you get close. He is in trouble because he isn't a soldier but a Warlord.

Better than (just hypothetically of course lul) letting an adc main rework assassins that they almost never played before without asking mains for feedback on their ideas or anything imo xd

Ralanr4 votes

They actually do have playtesters you know.

Penns1 votes

Playtesters dont have to main those champs either tho.

They are asking for feedback/sharing their ideas pretty much every time before it hits PBE now, Heimer, Rek Sai, and so on... now.

No they don't. They just have to be high ranked to apply for the job.

Which is good. I'm glad they did it for Azir so we could even talk about it.

Penns1 votes

It is good. But sadly they almost never revert changes or at least revisit the champs beyond some number changes, when at least like 60-70% of mains and non-mains dont like playing with or against the changed champ.

Ralanr1 votes

How accurate are those numbers? Not everyone actually posts on Reddit or the forums.

Penns1 votes

Well sure its not a representation of the whole community, but its pretty much the only "representation" we have, and on the fizzmains subreddit there were like literally 2-3 people defending the rework and everyone else either hated it/didnt like it or would be fine with both versions. And almost everyone said the new version is worse to play against.

Whichever party wants to get rid of the Shurima Shuffle is the right one.

There is when it eats the shit out of your power budget.

But part of the reason they're reworking Azir is to make him less frustrating to play against. If they listen only to Azir mains they'll leave in all their favorite mechanics that everyone else hates to play against.

Big Lincoln4 votes

if we removed every mechanic that was frustrating to play against we would not have a game

Quepha4 votes

That line of thinking only makes sense if you believe all mechanics are equally frustrating to play against, which is obviously false.

Big Lincoln2 votes

and yours only works if you assume frustration is universal

Quepha4 votes

No, I am specifically speaking under the assumption that opinions are NOT universal, which is why I think all related opinions should be considered, not just Azir mains.

YOU'RE the one asking for one group and one group only to have input, assuming their perspective can capture all angles of the problem.

I just played Azir against another summoner and they said his range is what he hates to play against, not his mobility. The non-Azir players are burying their own grave because "thematic reasons" lol

Cosnirak1 votes

So much this! What it's like to play against something is very important to having a fun game. If playing against certain things is frustrating enough and happens often enough players end up quitting because of it. Playing against current Azir and Fiora make me want to quit.

NineTailedMystic1 votes

Wasn't the main reason for a gameplay update for him that he was too good in the hands of someone that could play him because he had almost everything a Mage could want in his kit? And now the goal of the update is to remove some of those tools while making it so that he isn't God in the hands of an experienced player and worthless played by anyone else?

Vęrtęx3 votes

This guy hit it right on the head go to the Azir subreddit for real feedback. We know the champ and what he does to make it frustrating to play against. It's his range not mobility.

TyrekGoldenspear2 votes

Uh. You do realize there are Azir mains who see his mobility as an issue right?

Myself included.

iSnipeBunniez2 votes

Experienced Azir mains know the problems with Azir(from their perspective strength points) and know what needs to be fixed. Azir's problems are BOTH his mobility and range.

Ahri has insane mobility but low range. Ziggs has insane range but low mobility. Having the combination of those two is what made Azir insanely strong in the hands of experienced players who practiced him and used him to his full potential.

Azir's identity, when first created, is an emperor commanding soldiers to do his work. His identity however changed by time into that very high skill ceiling play maker who could do everything in the right hands.

His nerfs were because professional players could exploit him fully and thus he was perma picked/banned. However, average players were barely able to do fine with his old numbers and thus his winrates are very low. The rework is to curb down either his range(and thus preserve his identity as the high skill cap champion who still commands soldiers) or his mobility(and thus remove the majority of the skill required to play him).

As an Azir main I can guarantee you that removing his mobility will only kill his play making and he will be turned into another Ziggs, that's what the majority of Azir mains agree on. Sacrificing some of the range to preserve his skill cap and play making potential is a good deal.

No, listen to everyone.

Do Azir mains realize this his E is pretty much the entire reason his kit is a problem?
