Adding More Depth To Bard

So I dont think Bard needs straight up buffs to his current spell numbers, because they are overall reasonable right now. However, I was thinking and I think there could be some pretty unique interactions between Bard's abilities to add more depth to him and mainly decision making. Meaning to make his portal have a reason to level it past level 1 before Level 13 and making his other spells combo togethet for unique effects. Here is some ideas I had.

Q- Cosmic Binding

  • If Cosmic Binding passes over a Caretaker Shrine, the shrine will be fully charged immediately. However, for every shrine Cosmic Binding passes over, the damage is reduced by 25%
  • If Cosmic Binding is cast through a portal, all enemies currently inside the portal will be affected. If more than one unit is inside the portal, they will all also be stunned

W- Caretaker Shrine

  • Cool Down increased to 14/13.5/13/12.5/12 seconds from 12 seconds at all ranks

E- Magical Journey

  • Ally Movement Speed Increase reduced to 10/15/20/25/30% from 10/20/30/40/50%
  • Mana Cost increased to 30/35/40/45/50 mana from 30 mana at all ranks
  • At Level 2, allied units who enter the Magical Journey will gain 20/30/40/50 armor and magic resist while inside the portal and for 1 second upon exiting
  • At Level 3, enemies who enter the portal will also be slowed by 50/75/100% of the allied speed boost
  • At Level 4, allied units who enter the portal will be healed for 25/50% of an uncharged Caretaker Shrine upon entering and exiting the portal
  • At Level 5, if Bard travels through his portal, he can recast the ability after a 1.5 second delay to make a portal that will travel from the ending of the portal back to the entrance of the portal at a 25 mana cost

R- Tempered Fate

  • Casting Tempered Fate on enemies currently slowed or stunned by Cosmic Binding will cause the slow or stun to be reapplied to the enemies for 50% of the duration when Tempered Fate ends
  • Tempered Fate has 20% of it's mana cost refunded for every champion hit

Eh? I think this could add some more thinking to Bard. Chime limiters could also be placed on some of these to make them not available early game as well.

To be quite honest, this isn't the biggest rework really except for Magical Journey. All the rest are effects that are on the scale of other effects added to abilities. And yes, I feel like they could and should do these changes to make Bard have a higher personal skill ceiling since his current one more relies on the skill of his allies then himself.

then ya know what i say go for it, bard was put out with such fanfare about a new support... the roaming support... and well, he seems like a rather large disappointment if the lack of ever seeing him says anything....

well done on trying to create positive change

Thank you! I tried to do it without straight up buffing his current numbers since they are all pretty stable.

Eh; not too much of a fan of Magical Journey changes. It's probably just because I like the idea that enemies traveling through the portal provides good counterplay for what would otherwise probably be the ultimate disengage ability (Like a team-wide thresh lantern that can cross multiple screens). So don't really think enemies should be outright punished for using it.

Even on live I kind of hate that allies get a speed boost that enemies don't, because the counterplay is less "You can chase them down" and more "Their team has all the time in the world to set up when you come out, including Bard's practically assured Cosmic Binig, so why bother chasing them." But that's probably just me.
