why nexus blitz WONT be a permanent mode
so i read about this new gamemode thats coming up is SUPPOSED to be a permanent gamemode. but here is my simple theory why there will never be a new permanent gamemode:
warning english isnt my first language so... insert dumb stuff here why mistakes will be made.
the main reason why there wont be a new perma gamemode is this: riot is EXTREMELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! allergic to reactions. what does that mean?
lets take an example. look at how ~ 95% of new champ releases/reworks go.
this is the same like 95% of the time new champ comes out/champ gets reworked. new champs playrate skyrockets up. everyone wants to play the new champ. new champ is new thus noone knows how to play it which items bla bla... winrate DROPS. usually between 30 and 40%. what happens? riot is getting the biggest panic attack ever "omfg our new champ sucks all that work and money for the team wasted... BUFF IT!"
since this happens with 95% of the champs i dont have to name any, but lets just go with ornn. massive playrate. horrible winrate BUFF BUFF BUFF BUFF ----- a few weeks go by. ppl start to main the champ, figure it out etc. playrate sinks hard to an average. winrate goes to an average of lets say 55% (thats really high) champ becomes a must pick or ban in soloq and lcs. riot again gets a massive panic attack "OMG ITS TOO STRONG WE GOTTA NERF NERF NERF IT! so they nerf it. multiple times. in the end the champ ends up a bit weaker at some points and a bit stronger at some points compared to its release date. and it finally balances out. still average playrate and a winrate that goes up and down from 48-52%. riot, after several heartattacks, barely able to stand finally is somewhat happy with the situation.
happens with 95% of champs.
now lets look at the competitive part of lol. there is 5v5 soloq, teamranked (which not many ppl care about lets be honest) and 3v3 ranked which is just dead. so basically the main part of LoL is 5v5 soloq. (i know most ppl play normals, but competitive soloq is the only thing). "but riot would never do anything like that" do i hear some kids scream. well dear children, lets look at how riot handles patches. 0,01% of the entire playerbase are lcs players. what do most patches focus on? THE LCS! THERE ARE EVEN WORLDS PATCHES LITERALLY NAMED AFTER THE 0,01%! SO FUCKING YEA RIOT WOULD TOTALLY DO STUFF FOR ~50% WHEN THEY EVEN DO IT FOR 0,01%!!!
now look at what happens when we have a gamemode come out for 1 week. lets say poroking because its a pretty boring gamemode and we had it a ton of times so its the worst example, yet will show what my point is.
so we get poroking for 5 days (or 7 or only 2 cause weekend lul) boring gamemode, worse than actual aram and we had it many times. (if you have trouble with this example, replace POROKING with URF and you'll get it) yet the gamemode gets played. A LOT! riots only REAL competitive mode, soloq loses playrates.
totally made up numbers incoming
lets say 70% of the entire playerbase play ranked. now with a rotating gamemode, at least 30% go to that gamemode. thus ranekd only has 40% of playerbase left.
well if riot gets a literal panic attack with every new champ, what do you think happens when the same thing happens to their MAIN AND ONLY MATTERING GAMEMODE soloq. employees are starting to commit suicide at work because they are afraid of losing their jobs and riotgames is scared of dying. this is an extreme example but yea.
lets say nexus siege stays for 1 month. 1 month every "big animal" at riot has nightmares of statistics that make it look like LoL is actually dying. or at least their main gamemode is. they will be so tired and worked to death, that they will just remove nexus blitz. so ppl return to soloq and everything goes back TO ITS AVERAGE NUMBERS (just like it does with champs). and riot can finally get back on their feet from their several members loss and their headquarters being burnt down.
so yea in all seriousness, riot panics more when new stuff happens than a 5 year old girl watching the scariest horror movie ever. thus my THEORY (its a theory okay calm down everyone) that no gamemode will ever become permanent.
unless ofc riot finally understands that those number changes are TOTALLY NORMAL!
