How healthy would a support with ashe's old kit be?

Ive revcently had a bunch of talks with friends about this topic. Myself a couple others ive talked to loved ashe support - she was a unique support with a ton of power who could become a transition off-ADC.

The argument for is clear; slow based poke marksman/supports are fun, and rely HEAVILY on your positioning to function. With the GA changes, marksman/support GA third item is plausible, and gives the concept a lot more credence. The argument against is that constant slows, easy harass, and a potentially 3~5 second (i dont recall the exact number) stun was extremely unhealthy to play against, and the lack of damage made the champion unsatisfying in the late game due to no marksman/support itemization.

What do you guys think? Would a champion with ashes old kit be healthy in the current gamestate, sheer cancer, or just a mediocre support?

Ashe"s new kit is still very close to her old one Her Q made auto attacks be a toggle to slow at a cost of mana per shot it was changed to her passive and the mana cost was removed and the slow was lowered a bit Her old passive was If Ashe has not attacked in the last 3 seconds, she gains 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 Focus stacks per second. At 100 stacks, Ashe will Critical strike icon.png critically strike on her next basic attack. Thereafter, Focus stacks will reset to an amount equal to her critical strike chance A support could not be able to utilize the crit part of the passive (thats the whole thing) Her w is the same Her e is the same but no extra gold per kill Her r is the same

Ashes current kit is an ADC kit - plain and simple. It doesnt function as support because it requires crit and doesnt have enough of the slow to be useful. The old ashes kit had a reliable slow - very reliable. as a support if you had an ADC like vayne or lucian who could make use of sustained slows then you could easily win trades and get your ADC fed. Its not so with the current Q. The old focus passive was also VERY useful in the early game and as i said in the opening post GA would work SUPER well with it.

Dont think you understand fully so ill explain it a lot more simply New ashe is really just old ashe but with the q and passive swapped and made simpler. Riot doesn't make 2 similar champs so what fun would 2 champs with on hit slows with every auto be

Why not make a new champ with old ryze's kit? Or one with katarina's kit? Why not one with zac's old kit? That is what this post sounds like

Her old kit was built for adc, it was poorly designed compared to new champs but it was for adc Her slow was unreliable as it cost 8 mana per shot The slow was nothing special and in no way is a slow going to help your adc win a trade against the brutes that dominate your lucian or vayne, such as naut, blitz, thresh, leona, alistar, braum, kench, etc a support needs real cc not a lousy 35% slow if you max it at level 9 Sure the crit passive was useful early game, if you didn't attack anything, where as ranged supports are supposed to be constantly harassing the enemy to zone them out of farm not to sure how things are done in bronze but it would be pretty useless in a real game
