I have a support main in top lane against a million mastery Darius main

Thanks, auto-fill.

What exactly is the point of even creating a ranked match like this in the first place?

Thats not auto fill.

Supports are exempt from auto filled.

Death by Glamour11 votes

They really arent, play fill a few times you are more likely to get top and jungle rather than support

Terozu8 votes

That... doesn't mean anything?

Playing a game as Support makes you exempt from Autofill for 1 game, stacking like 4-5 times.

An actual support main is immune to autofill.

It doesn't stack lmfao. If a support gets their off role twice then they are just as eligible to getting autofilled as anyone else. Unlikely, but entirely possible. The issue with this argument is that auto fill can fuck up games before they begin regardless of roles. It doesn't matter if it was a support main who got autofilled or an adc/jungle/mid getting put into the top lane. They are at a HUGE disadvantage.

Terozu4 votes

Playing a game of support exempts you, and it does stack up to a point.

A 'support main' who's been autofilled doesn't actually support enough to earn the title.

Tobykachu4 votes

Playing a game as support, fill or getting autofilled gives you autofill immunity for 2 games. It doesn't stack. If you've played 20 games as support and queue up the next day as support/top and get top twice, then afterwards you are eligible for autofill.

Eleshakai1 votes

The protection lasts more than one game. It isn't a stacking thing, but it DOES last more than one game.

As I said. It lasts 2 games. Then you're just as eligible as anyone else.

Yes, but that would mean someone who picked SUPPORT as their primary role would need to NOT GET SUPPORT for three games consecutive to get auto-filled. The odds of that happening are so low they're not even noteworthy.

It’s literally happened to me before and I’m a Bard OTP who queues up for support/mid every single game. Unlikely? Yes. Impossible? Absolutely not.

Eleshakai1 votes

You're telling me you got mid twice in a row with mid as your secondary role? I call BS. Even people who select mid as their primary have trouble getting it twice in a row a lot of the time. lol

If you'd said supp/jungle I might have believed you... or supp/top maybe. But supp/mid? No way.

Tobykachu1 votes

There's literally no reason for me to lie.

Eleshakai1 votes

Actually yes, there is a reason: to prove your point.

If the lie is true, it makes you right. And, for most people online, being right is more important than being honest.

What you're saying defies logic. It'd be like me telling you I'd been struck by lightning 3 times consecutive while standing inside a bomb shelter. Sure, there's no reason for me to lie... but it's also still not something you're going to believe without proof.

Tobykachu1 votes

Are you aware of what hyperbole is? I played several thousand games last season. The chances of getting 2 offrole games mid and then autofilled, is not the same as getting hit by lightning 3 times consecutively. As I cannot go back to games from last season, I cannot get you proof. This is irrelevant anyway. The argument is whether it CAN happen, which is definitely the case no matter how low the chances. Whether you believe me or not is irrelevant.

Eleshakai1 votes

Of course it is theoretically possible. But it is also theoretically possible for a person to walk into a wall and phase through it because the atoms and molecules just line up perfectly.

Is it ever going to happen? Probably not. But is it possible? Ya. Technically.

no you aren't, that's not the least popular role on the map. adc and jungle are the least popular with top lane switching places with adc pending what's currently being played there. if you want to be autofill exempt then you must pick "fill" picking support means you are aiming for a specific role so no you don't get to not autofill.

i know this cause I played fill for 3 seasons until either balance or matchmaking got fucked.

Terozu11 votes

Dude I'm a support main, the prompt literally says something like "Because you recently played support or filled, you are guaranteed one of your selected roles this game?"

I've literally never been autofilled. Ever. Because I'm immune.

yes i was a support main for 2 seasons. that is from autofill, not from picking support. picking support does not make you immune to being filled lol, only picking fill.

Terozu5 votes

Then why, if I never play fill, and I've never been autofilled, do I have semi permanent immunity?

I've never been autofilled. I don't even know what it looks like.

I got this through playing support primary mid secondary.

you don't have semi-perm autofill protection, there just isn't competition for your role, especially with mid as your secondary. the game, rather than letting you compete with primaries via your secondary cause that primary is too popular, will likely plop you in support 95% of the time. and then that one time you get bot lane premade and they force you out of support role and the game won't let you secondary to mid cause that position is already full. where else will it put you on the map?

Terozu6 votes

Okay, no. Here's the prompt: https://imgur.com/jbItv98.png[] Which specifically says playing support makes you exempt. So you are factually wrong. And this prompt isn't new, either. It's been around since the Auto Fill hit live servers.

If you're a support main, you are immune to autofill. If you were a 'support main' for 2 years, then you got this. Otherwise you weren't really going support very often if at all.

did you pick fill or pick support? cause if you picked support it's gonna fill you regardless what the client says if that just so happens to be your main role. i've been autofilled to mid after picking support lol. that aside rito is wrongly acquiescing to NA culture of people not wanting to play support so they put this fake info in the fill notification. only fill makes you exempt from autofill.

Okay so you're trolling. Thanks for making that obvious. Bye.

ok 3 years playing support doesn't matter here, real world observations don't count your own included. good to know you just got autofilled as support, i tell you how and why that happens i'm then a troll, and then next patch rito update their tooltip on autofill to be what it actually is instead of what you think it is.

Tomoe Gozen3 votes

If you're a support main, you cannot be autofilled. If i ever put my primary as a Support, in very rare occasions have i ever gotten my secondary role. I play Support/Bot. My primary in this case is always my main role and after each support game played, i am always autofill protected for one game.

Which means that if you choose to queue up as something else (not Support) in your primary and secondary positions, you will not be autofilled in a game from where your autofill protection is active.

so how did I get 200k mastery on janna, sona and leona each? you can look back 3 seasons and miss that many games on those champions? very good investigation. when I pick support and I'm on autofill I can very easily get filled to any role, it happens, of course you guys don't even have 400k on a support champion so what do you know about that role?

Eedat3 votes

You've played support. You were NOT "a support main for 2 seasons". That is a bold faced lie

Unless you got your off role twice in a row. It has happened to me before and I'm a Bard otp.

You know nothing about this game's system. I mean no disrespect by this, it is simple fact. I would kindly encourage you to do some research before you make assertions as fact.

A person who plays support cannot get autofilled on their next game. This is fact. The prompt specifically says so. "You're guaranteed one of your selected positions this game because you recently filled or played support" is the exact wording.

There is a theoretical possibility that a support/x player MIGHT, if they got their secondary role like 4-5 times in a row, wear through that protection and then get autofilled, but... that's so unlikely that there MIGHT be one support main ever who got autofilled once. Ever. And it'd probably need to be like support/jungle in order for their secondary role to be low enough play rate for that to work.

Also, bear in mind that the role data varies from region to region, and that - unless you're getting info from Riot directly - your info is incomplete at best and inaccurate at worst.

The most recent Riot posted numbers showed support as still being the globally least picked role. In North America specifically, and JUST North America, Jungle was about 0.5% lower than support.

are you playing the game? field data matters much more than whatever was intended. how does one get autofilled as support? by maining support. it's happened to me plenty where i get filled to top lane, which is my first home, or mid, which is my third home. the role is a lot more popular than the community makes out but whatever NA would rather ignore that for narratives, what else is new.

Eleshakai1 votes

There was a person who won the lottery literally twice in one year. To that person, winning the lottery seemed like a common occurrence.

However, that does not make it factually a common occurrence. It merely means that his limited subjective experience showed him a statistical anomaly. This is why using your 'field data' is not viable. You do not have enough samples to overcome the hurdle to where you can hit good statistical analysis.

Based off of how the system is designed you would literally need to get your secondary role at LEAST twice in a row and THEN get autofilled on that third CONSECUTIVE game for it to happen. Given that most support mains get their off-role only once in like 50-100 games(I haven't had it at all this season, for example), the likelihood of a support main getting autofilled without switching primary role is virtually non-existent. That's not to say it is literally impossible, just that the odds of it happening are so low that it's barely even a bullet point.

Eleshakai1 votes

GIven your match history, I suspect you select Support/Fill, which is not the same as auto-fill. If you pick fill as your secondary role, you can get fill sometimes. Because you chose it as your secondary role.

If you select Support with any other individual role as your secondary role, you would need to get your off-role TWICE consecutive before your auto-fill protection wears off. At which point, if you got support, you'd have autofill protection again. So you'd need to not get support THREE GAMES consecutive to get autofilled. The odds of that happening are virtually nil. Yes, theoretically possible, but I would be shocked if there were even ten legitimate cases of it happening since autofill was introduced TOTAL across all leagues. We're talking like getting struck by lightning on a cloudless day level odds.
