The truth about kalista, lee sin, Zed, leblanc and the like

With the sheer amount of QQ threads about these champs one would assume they are op, but they aren't. I fear riot gets the wrong impression by all these threads. They see people complain, check all the stats, realizing these champs are not op, and then conclude the community to be braindead.

The truth is that these champs are not op (maybe a few of the hyper mobiles are a tad overtuned, but nothing to write home about). But that isn't the problem!

The issue is not that they have high win rates (they dont) or that they dominate games (they dont), the issue is that they are annoying as a venereal disease drip to play against

They don't need number nerfs, which would just lower their win rates while maintaining their frustrating gameplay. They need reworked abilities that fit into the game. Excuse me for saying this, and maybe it sounds ridiculous, but you cannot give one champion 4 flashes on a 2 second cd while some having no mobility except a 5 min summoner spell. You just can't do that and expect it to be fun to play against.

Yes, it can be balanced to make the champion not dominate games (most of them have sub 50% win rates) but that doesn't make it fun!

The truth is that these champs, and anyone else that comes along like them, will always be annoying, unfun, and cancerous, regardless if they are actually good.

Disagree, all of those champions have fun and interesting kits. You re-work them and this game gets 4 much more boring and less-unique champions. Riot is trying to move towards more unique champions, which I love. Please don't make this game stale if it doesn't need to be. I love where this game is it. They're balanced and thus there's no need to re-work them.

Basically they have two options. Either give every champ clear mobility (or methods of dealing with mobility) or not allow certain ones to have it in droves.

Right, like i said, they CAN be balanced, that isnt the issue. The issue is that whether they are op, balanced, or weak, they are still annoying and unfun to play against.

The truth is that people confuse design and balance health and use anecdotal experiences to justify their position that X is overpowered. Because of poorly designed champions frequently having binary match-ups, the resulting perception is that they are too powerful. The reality is that they are simply annoying and poorly designed.

That being said, some of them genuinely do need reworks. Others, well, I think they are more or less alright. For example, I think Riven (While very annoying sometimes) is honestly okay. Her numbers are pretty bad, but she's kit strong and cheeses people to become powerful in all areas of offense, both mechanic and number wise. An example for a champion that needs a rework would be Kalista for harming design health far too gravely. She simply warps champion selection.

the problem is they have both mobility AND kill potential. other immobile champions just have kill potential, most of which also bring utility, whether it be a slow, stun, snare, something.

the unfortunate truth is that mobility is more important because with mobility you always reserve the right to dodge their utility, reducing the damage you take, and deal damage at the same time.

yet all of those champions you mentioned, they dont lack in damage to compensate for their mobility. instead they have equal damage. making them that much better than immobile champions who bring utility.

Exactly. And if they were gutted? Their win rates would simply plummet, they would not get played anymore, and when the lonely summoner continued to main them, the champion would STILL be annoying to play against.

oh, forgot to mention, all of those champions also have utility (slows and cc) so wheres their innate drawback?
