Question about tier demotion.

A couple weeks ago I finally managed to reach Silver 5 after a nice win streak all the way from Bronze 2. Now, I've started struggling again going on massive lose streaks. I've lost several games at S5 0 LP. I expect long ago now to drop back to B1 but it hasn't happen. Is demotion from tiers like Silver to Bronze harder or impossible ? I remember how easy it was to get demoted a division with as little as a single loss but I must have lost something like 15-20 games at 0 LP in Silver with a couple wins here and there yet no demotion. I'm curious as to why it hasn't happened. Not complaining but it is interesting.

You have to reach the mmr of that a full tier below you. So, you'd have to lose a game at 0 lp when you had Bronze V mmr to get demoted to bronze. At least, that's what I've been told.

Wow. That's a large margin of error. That's good news. I was kinda avoiding playing ranked for fear of demotion. I have little problem carrying games below Bronze 2 so I'm pretty safe I guess. Thanks.

It depends on your MMR. I don't know how high your MMR has to be to have demotion protection or how low to guarantee you get demoted, but yours is simply high enough currently to avoid being demoted. You won't be able to rely on that forever, but for now it's enough buffer to give you the chance to climb some.

You also get 10 games of demotion protection upon being promoted a tier (3 for division), so if you're still within that it also explains it.

you have a 10 game protection from demotion after reaching a new teir (like silver, golt plat) and a 3 game protection from demotion after climbing form like silver 5 to silver 4 or so on

be careful though although u cant get demoted your first 10 games. if you are at 0LP on your 11th game you CAN get demoted and note i said GAMES.. not losses

even it you were got up to 98 LP in silver 5, if you are down to 0 by your 11th game you can still get demoted. the protection counts GAMES. not wins.

idk what it does with "remakes" but to be safe i would assume they they count as one of the 10 games.

I'm sure I lost way more than 10 games by now. I should have been demoted already according to your explanation but I haven't. I won a couple that raised me from 0LP but then I'd quickly lose 3 to 5 in a row after, yet no demotion. I would like to end the season at Silver so I'm curious about how demotion works so I'll know when to stop playing ranked. I'd like to know what to look for when I'm in danger of being demoted.
