AFKers arent punished hard enough.

All they get is a slap on a wrist in the form of having to type "I agree" to not afking again or a 5 minute timeout before queuing. AFKing needs to be punished more severely to discourage the behavior. Make them lose double LP, make them unable to gain IP for x games, or lose ranked privileges, or permaban them if they continue to habitually AFK. No one enjoys having to play a 4v5 and since Riot does not seem to want to implement a loss forgiveness system for afks, harsher punishments are the only way to reduce AFKing. Besides, most of the AFKing I encounter in my games are not due to technical issues at all. Most or the time, they are doing it intentionally to spite someone or because a surrender vote failed or because they just decided to ragequit. Riot, you would go so far to weed out toxic behavior in LoL, why won't you do the same for AFKers? I personally really don't care if I get a toxic teammate. I can just mute them and move on. But AFKers, there is nothing much I can do about it once I get one.

This has probably been said a thousand and three times, however, I think the real solution is to not indirectly punish those who suffer through having an AFK. LP losses seem ridiculous when someone goes AFK. For instance, I just came out of a game where we had an AFK jungler, and I lost 20 LP due to a 4v5 loss.

Now I realize that Loss Prevention for an AFK could be abused if your team is losing horribly and you have a buddy willing to AFK. Yet, I have to think if they made leavers or afk-ers lose something crazy, like 3 times the normal amount of LP, they wouldn't do so.

But meh, what do I know. I don't run a company.

Edit:

22 afkers voted no. Dafuq would you play the game if you just wanna ruin time of 4 other players?

What bothers me the most is that, I get afkers far more often in ranked than I do in normals.. Perhaps that's why I generally play normals now... again................

But what if the afk was an accident and it happened one time, maybe because the internet went offline.

Im on the fence with this. I think people who just ragequit because they or their team are getting beat deserve harsher punishments. But at the same time I dont feel you should drop the hammer on people who experience legitimate connection issues as they do happen in this game.

The problem is trying to differentiate between the two.

Agreed.. I feel like there is an afk on either my team or the enemy team every 4 or 5 games in ranked.

I don't know what world you live in but making punishments sticker will not solve anything. Plus people being asshats is more likely to cause people to not only leave a game but stop playing all together so your priorities are fucked up and your angry post is very biased.

As a followup to my answer for the Yes/No poll, here's my reasoning. Technical issues are fundementally different from voluntarily LEAVING the game. Granted, it achieves the same outcome normally (a shorthanded game), but since the aims are different, the punishments also need to be. They currently aren't and the detection is different, so the punishments also need to be.

So, do I think AFKing is punished hard enough? For People that have bad connections and internet? Yes.

Ragers and AFK'ers? HELL NO.

I agree; I think AFKers or leavers should get 1 warning maybe including a small penalty and then after that a ban for sometime, maybe a week every time. Possibly increasing everytime?

I know it is frustrating, but AFKers getting low priority queue is extremely annoying. You are wasting 150 minutes if you just afk for 20. It is harsh enough.
