Assassin is by far the most difficult role in the game, case closed

I dont understand why people are still debating over this topic, it's a fact that nothing in this game comes even close to the difficulty of an Assassin.

Melee ✓ Squishy ✓ Hardest role to position with ✓ Requires perfect timing ✓ Highly advanced and mechanically challenging kits ✓ And the list goes on. On top of that it's also the weakest role in the game right now.

And before you go on a rant about how Assassins are ''easy'' just save it. Everyone knows that the only people who call Assassins easy are the ones who aren't skilled enough to play Assassins themselves. At the end of the day you pick lux into ahri and facecheck bushes when ahri roams.

Not unique to assassins, also Leblanc and ranged kits like Katarina Zed. Assassins are melee, but what makes that fine for them is their mobility to completely dance around their enemies.

Not as squishy as you'd think, assassins do have defensive options that make them relatively hard to kill and give them survivability. item 3071 item 3047 item 3026 item 3155 item 3814 and a lot of them do have the option of building defensive items like dead mans and death's dance. They're like mages except they have ways to avoid the burst itself.

But easiest to get in that position due to either: resets, blinks, invisibility, or general mobility. Positioning isn't nearly the biggest issue with assassins when there are other roles you have to worry about positioning with (especially so an assassin doesn't kill you).

Not assassin specific. Maybe Katarina or Khazix need to time their resets but that's not something hard to do (and yes, I play assassins, its really not hard after 2-3 games to practice resets, mechanically speaking most of them are not that hard unless their kits take specific combo use you have to learn such as talon's passive or leblanc's kit in general).

See above, granted the skill gate between a high elo assassin and a low elo assassin is huge, its mostly due to how their decision making is since learning the mechanics of assassins themselves are no big deal. (you can be a one trick talon with perfect mechanics, but be shit at learning when to roam).

I don't think it'd the weakest role, especially with how strong champions like Khazix Kassadin Katarina Fizz Ekko Akali and if you're that guy Ahri are. The class is fine. Just some assassins are weak as shit because when they are strong people complain about them for legitmate or illegitmate reasons. Rengar

The only issue with assassins is their playstyle has a significantly higher skillgate since they're basically like divers but they have to kill to be useful and divers are usually less punished for going in either due to CC of their own or being more better bruisers/tanks.

aw dude you yoinked my reply right out while I was typing it.

AmetDeCrypt1 votes

melee? Ahri Chogath Elise Kennen Leblanc Quinn Teemo eh, not by rule. squishy? yea well Evelynn Kassadin Ekko Fizz you can try to kill them. hard to position? dude they are almost universally equipped with resetting dashes the only positions you need to focus on are in and out. adc are the role to complain about positioning because they need to stay in danger for a long duration to dish out their damage and like it or not that takes a mechanical skill. perfect timing all depends on how fed you are. mechanically challenging? not any more than most other classes in the entire game dude I dunno if you noticed other classes have better things to do than vomit all over one person and skip out, they have to focus on multiple things at once to play well. weak? well I play lulu so I shit on them almost universally but they seem to do alright in most cases.

King of Mongoose1 votes

you classify teemo and quinn as assassins?

teemo is a bruiser because riot doesn't know what to do with him and quinn does peanut damage

AmetDeCrypt1 votes

he's from the age riot made assassins with a lot of AA damage like yi and teemo but is still an assassin. full ap teemo can chunk anyone and his invis lets him pop out of nowhere to mow you down. also quinn is very bursty and roams well, hallmarks of a good assassin.

you missed the cho'gath I stuck in there on joke.

I main Kassadin , he has been nerfed into the ground many times over. For a good reason.... That being said, learning how to survive with him early game and have the time to stop your laner from ganking since you're early backing a lot (assuming your jg doesnt watch your pings for help) is definitively a challenge....

Just from Kassadin stand point, positioning for finding the right moment to fight is not necessary since you only have 1 safe time to fight in MOST SITUATIONS. That is when you notice a squishy all alone, or possibly backing off from a fight. That is your chance to strike. Some assassins have a good role to play in a teamfight even if its not going all out one shot the squishies mode. Champions such as Zed Leblanc Ekko (if you consider him a possible assassin)Akali Nidalee Talon

That being said, it really is a mix and match like it is with almost 99.9% of debates on here. Some assassins have easier roles to position for. OR easier ways to get into that position, and some really require a teamate to either A) Make a mistake thus giving you a moment to kill someone, B) Land some sort of CC in back line that buys you enough time to spread your wings and get to safety if needed OR if the enemy A) Makes a mistake in some sort of positioning way, B) is in retreat and you find a way to pick a straggler off.

All depends on the assassin.

EDIT: This does not go over the chance to land kills with an assassin in regards to just catching someone the F off guard. We all know that option always exists.

Alright, let's go through your list and I'll just pick an assassin at random... how about LeBlanc.

Melee ✓

Oops. No, she is not melee.

Squishy ✓

Okay, I'll give you that one, LeBlanc is squishy.

Hardest role to position with ✓

If by "hard to position with" you mean I get to W in with little warning to my opponent, drop a chain that seems to have twice as wide of a hit box as it should and an endless tether and then blast with Q then easily escape with my second W then I guess, sure.

Or how about other assassins that have invisibility and the enemy literally can't see you so you have an advantage of surprise and positioning, but anyway... moving right along...

Requires perfect timing ✓

Yeah that perfect timing of, "should I kill him now, or wait ten seconds?" Give me a break.

Highly advanced and mechanically challenging kits ✓

LeBlanc has been nerfed into oblivion and is a shell of her former self which is really the only challenging part about playing her, but honestly her kit is slightly above novice level. Not a good argument on your part, sir.

Other assassins, such as Akali, are braindead easy with point and click nukes, AoEs and a small flash. Kassadin as well (if you still consider him an assassin, I would play him more AP Bruiser, but whatever).

Another joke.

And the list goes on. On top of that it's also the weakest role in the game right now.

Two of the five lowest win rates in the game are occupied by mages/mid laners; Ryze and Azir. Nidalee is the third lowest win rate and I wouldn't call her an assassin and then Rengar (Riot apparently thinks he's a diver now although that's bullshit) and LeBlanc who I mentioned above. Those are your first lowest winrate champions in League. So, I wouldn't say they hold the exclusive rights to the weakest role in the game, they do have a couple of very weak champions within the role, however.

Mages also have weak champions. ADCs have Kalista who is forever in Ryze territory. Bruisers/tanks have Poppy, at 46% and Supports have Tahm Kench, also 9th lowest win rate at 45.7%.

JavelinJoe1 votes

Hmm, yeah no.

Melee ✓

Leblanc Ahri and most have ranged based kits, spamable poke, or no mana costs to use their abilities.

Squishy ✓

For the most part, it is a requirement. A super tank with an assassin's level of damage and mobility would likely break the game.

Hardest role to position with ✓

Arguably no, since most have a lot of mobility to compensate and further push their "in and out" play style. ADC is likely the hardest since most of the role's game play is based around having good positioning.

Requires perfect timing ✓

Can really be said about any part of the game. Smiting is an example.

Highly advanced and mechanically challenging kits ✓

While more complex than say Garen's kit, they are not necessarily the most advanced (depending on what you mean by advanced???) or mechanically challenging kits.

I'm a Shaco main, and I'd say a good portion of assassins have a relatively low skill floor.

That being said, I don't think a specific sub-class of champion is inherently easier or harder than another. Individual differences based on champion kits, player ability, and the quirks of the position they're played in matter far more IMO.

For example, playing Shaco as a jungler requires a very different kind of tactical knowledge than playing Shaco in the top lane, or as a support. Even if you've absolutely mastered the mechanics of a specific champion, that knowledge accounts for only a small fraction of what needs to be learned in order to become successful at the game.

Dude, obviously [class you main] is the most difficult role in the game. Case closed
