I've always thought there should be a consumable slot. Makes zero sense to not allow people to buy wards / hold onto pots at full build. Is it really supposed to be a meaningful decision to complete your build at 5 items so can still buy these? Seems pretty lame to me.

maikokk1 votes

its leftover logic from dota. but in dota you can actually drop items to make room so its a legitimate decision as to whether or not its a worthy risk to buy wards at full build. + there is a per team ward limit instead of a per player... so its unlikely that a game progesses so far that everyone will make use of 6 item slots... and the secondaries can carry all the wards regardless of who buys them.

Asked for something similar on the EUW boards.

Got downvoted and ignored :D .

Come on NA-community! You can do it! Vote for the slot! Show those EUW´s!

This could be Resolve's third Tier 2 Keystone Mastery. Tinkerer: Grants the Tinkerer Item Slot, that can be filled with Potions or Vision Wards only.

Diananmen Square1 votes

That would lead to everyone abusing the cunning tree just for that mastery even if the other stats are near useless.

Illâoi Evê Siôn2 votes

I don't understand. Why would people abuse the Cunning Tree? And 15% Summoner Spell CDR is not 'useless' in comparison (though Preservation might be).

Diananmen Square2 votes

15% CDR on summoners is on the Resolve tree.

Tanks could go 6/6/18 or 0/12/18

ADCs and DFT mages could g 18/6/6 or 18/12/0

Illâoi Evê Siôn5 votes

I think I've found the misunderstanding. I suggested it for the Resolve Tree, not any of the other two.

Diananmen Square2 votes

Oh, then that way it would make more sense, even though mages would probably miss out on it and get that disadvantage.

OneSmoothDude2 votes

Not everybody would need to have this slot, though. If one or two people on a team had a place to put a pink for late-game teamfights against stealthed opponents, that would be enough.

This would "make the map darker" like Riot said they wanted it to be, but offer another option to fight stealth champs besides purposefully not being about to have a full build, which feels bad to players.

OneSmoothDude2 votes

I really, really like this idea.

  1. Meaningful choices. (This can be placed at the end of the other three points.)
  2. It would give players a way to deal with late-game stealth champs, if they choose.
  3. Putting it in the Resolve tree means that typically damage-oriented classes that go 18/12 or 12/18 would have to either sacrifice the extra slot, or sacrifice damage or utility. Tanks are going into Resolve no matter what, so for them the choice now falls into #4's category.
  4. Putting it against the arguably OP Insight mastery would make the choice more difficult to make.

Having 5 pink wards available at all times would make invisible champs worthless late game.

Were stealth champs useless when trinkets could drop vision wards?

Slamurai Jack3 votes

Pretty much no one ever got that trinket because upgraded stealth totem was just so much better.

Baron of Bread3 votes

In my games there was a lot of vision totem trinkets when stealth champs were there, but I guess in my elo they weren't going to ward any other way so it was worth.

Short term stealth abilities were, that's things like Twilight Shroud, Decoy and Void Assault. Unless these abilities were tied to another powerful mechanic IE. Kha's 40% damage reduction pre nerf they kind of did nothing. The champs could make up for this in other areas, but the abilites were completely worthless.

I like the vision trinket change. It adds a lot more room to work with the stealth mechanic without these champs just having 3 abilities. If it leads to Rengar or Vayne being overpowered then I'd say those champs should be nerfed on an individual basis.

Battlecast Sona1 votes

it's a shame that 90% of them are useless late game anyway. they got a buff with oracle's trinket not really revealing them (I mean, it shows their outline but you can't target them), so I feel like it wouldn't be that big of a deal if we could have pinks. I mean, don't get me started on playing a stealth champ when upgraded red trinket revealed you...

I'm on board with this when people actually start warding.

RisenDarkKnight3 votes

This, pls.

Cipse3 votes

Or, you know, let us have the old trinkets.

Durzaka3 votes

While I agree with this change, I dont understand why this season it is such a big deal.

Last season when people no longer had space for pink wards, they couldnt place them either. No one bought the pink ward upgrade to yellow trinket, you either got the double trinket slot, or sweepers. So pinks disappeared as the game went on anyways.

It is almost like you didnt read the post you were responding to.

NO ONE BOUGHT THE PINK WARD UPGRADE.

You either got the double warding yellow trinket, or you got sweepers. So the outcome is literally the exact same as it is this season.

{quoted} No one bought the pink ward upgrade to yellow trinket,

You see, this is where you're wrong

Durzaka3 votes

Nearly every single pro game ended with 4 sweepers and a blue trinket on both sides. So no, YOURE the one who is wrong.

item 3362 existed. item 3364 gave true sight.

Now item 2043 are the only option against stealth champions.

DazedOnlooker1 votes

And even still. No one else buys the pink trinkets because "full-build" and even before they had full build, they wouldn't buy the pink until its too late, and only use it once the entire game.

I thought the new upgraded sweeper could reveal stealth champs...this depresses me greatly..

And this is what happens when no one buy's pinks early/mid game:

People so greedy

Back in the day the support would use their 5th and/or 6th slot for wards

KarKzz1 votes

Support didn't have the money for buidling more than one item before 50 minutes anyway.

What are you talking about? Like supports had at most 3 items anyways Boots + 2 gp10 items... that was about it... sometimes they didn't even have that

S1 + S2 support build

Shurelia (Talisman's ancestor), CDR boots, Heart of Gold, spam Oracle and wards

S3 support build

Sightstone, Mobility boots, spam Oracle and wards, get Shurelia if you somehow can afford it

Would rather prefer they bring back the old pink ward trinket as an option at least. I was probably the only person who bought it to always keep taunting/baiting the enemy team to take out that pink ward in front of baron and dragon. The free pink ward helped with gold and comfort of always having a pink helped. Besides everyone else at least bought the other trinkets to cover, well if they did buy the upgraded versions that is.

Daedalus8711 votes

Would you still be able to have consumables in your regular slots?

Goosetard1 votes

This wouldn't be as much of an issue if the visibility/invisibility system for wards existed separately from the system for champions.

NightOfLight1 votes

Im up for the idea but allowing it to hold onto potions might be an error as it allows people to have more hp than they would normaly have but im fine for the ward aspect.

It Hertz When IP1 votes

That's kind of what potions do... and they aren't talking about potions like item 2003 , they're talking about Elixirs.

Champion Skin1 votes

Ehh I don't really see it as mattering much... like ADC's usually just heal up with life steal anyways... and tanks have so much HP that HP potions does very little So the only ones it would really help are mid laners (squishy and few sustain options) and supports (though they would probably rather carry pink wards)

I find it ironic that you're the same people who dislike snowballing

Decrit1 votes

I tought about a similar thing too, but i discarded that because there were too many consumables in the game.

With the disappearance of mana pots (RIP) and of green wards ( RIPPER ), elixirs unique to each other and the unification of health pots Riot can now probably add a pink lot.

Ridley Prime1 votes

Pots are almost useless late game and all they really should do is offer a pink ward upgrade to the normal yellow trinket to give you true sight against shacos/rengars/akalis

Confron7a7ion71 votes

Smite gives you 2 consumable slots as well as your normal 6 items. I think asking for 1 is fair since we have the trinket slot.

king Json1 votes

I really don't this would be a great idea. Having pink wards the whole game makes champs such as Rengar or Evelynn useless. But I do agree with the health potions.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Um.... Not really.

Rengar still has a ton of damage, whether you can see him or not. Evelynne can be see within range to place a pink anyway.

That's like saying having wards at all all game makes every champion without a cloak useless.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Am I the only one who understood that he didn't mean potions? He means elixers, which actually have a timer. Forcing them to be used right on buy, which starts the timer, is an issue late game.
