Yasuo is honestly garbage...

If you want to reach gold this season, I suggest not picking this champ. There's a reason (several reasons actually) why he's almost never played competitively. Dash animation is REALLY long and can only be used in certain situations, unlike other mobile champs (Fizz, Zed, every assassin in this game) who have access to mobility whenever they want it and not just when minions/other enemies are around. He has no poke whatsoever (not counting his tornado), since he's basically in melee range when he uses his 'q'. Also, unlike assassins, who have very good damage that cannot be dodged, you can easily dodge Yasuo's main source of damage (his q). You can also COMPLETELY deny him his ult (assuming he even gets a knockup to use it) by cc'ing him. Finally, his wind wall cooldown is WAY too long. When you compare it to other strong defensive abilities (instant repositioning, untargetability, stealth, etc) that assassins get, there's no reason why it should be that long.

While I am not going to criticise whether or not Yasuo is legitimately underpowered or otherwise, I must say how you deduce such a conclusion is completely questionable. Because

  1. Yasuo is not an assassin.
  2. You claim he has no poke, because you can just deliberately not count his poke and claim he doesn't have it? So can I say "Zed has no poke whatsoever (not counting his shuriken)"? What?
  3. Yasuo's 3rd Q is not in melee range. His immense mobility in lane (where Yasuo spends most of his time in ) also prevents him from staying in melee range of the opponent for Q1 and Q2 most of the time as he brandishes his hit-and-run tactic jumping in and out of fight by abusing his E.
  4. You can dodge the exhibit champs of Zed and Fizz's "very good damage" too, you have about the same amount of difficulty, or the alleged lack thereof, in dodging their stuff like Yas's Q, too. So what makes Yasuo's Q so easy to dodge again?
  5. You can also completely deny again, your exhibit champs of Zed and Fizz, their ulti too by CC'ing them, or at least that works for Zed. In fact you can also dodge those 2's ulti by going zhonya and stuff, you can't zhonya in the middle of Yas ulti, I don't think.
  6. Yasuo's W CD is way too long? "Muh ulti power budget normal spell has too long of a CD, even though it's only 26 sec that downscales to 18 which is not anywhere bad at all given its power. And let's not mention the rest of my kit has barely any CD and I don't have any resource management too" Oh man here I was thinking that Yi's W locked at 35 sec CD that can be interrupted by any strong CC is too unforgiving, or how WW's W starting CD being somewhat close to ulti CD on its active component is probably a bit much; but nope, Yasuo's W CD is bad lol. What?

Just saying, assuming Yasuo actually sucks, you probably have completely arrived at the conclusion for entirely the wrong reasons.

Your argument implies you don't think he's underpowered. Because if you didn't think he was underpowered you wouldn't be arguing with me.

  1. Never said he was
  2. He needs to be in melee range to use his 'q'. Riot even states the ability is treated as a basic attack, which for a melee range basically puts you in melee range.
  3. I clearly stated in the OP that his tornado is his only form of poke, but it's not the same since he needs to land 3 abilities in a row in order to get said poke. And there is no 'immense mobility'. As I stated before Yasuo's 'e' has a super long animation time. Assassins have almost no animation whatsoever on their mobility. It's almost instant. And no Fizz's abilities can't be dodged, except for his ult, but the hitbox is so lasrge I'd hardly call that a skill shot. And Zed's abilities can't really be dodged, since he can just switch positions with his shadow and immediately be right in your face. You can't really dodge his abilities when he's literally right in front of you.
  4. Your Zhonya's argument is invalid. We don't balance champions around items. There is ZERO counterplay to zed ult. It ALWAYS hits and is guaranteed to do at least a little bit of damage.
  5. And yes Yasuo's w cd is WAY too long. Compared to Fizz playful which has like a 4.5 second cooldown at max cdr, and the fact that cdr is extremely easy to come by for AP champs, he almost always gets max cdr.

He deliberately took a neutral stance (see first paragraph) on whether or not Yasuo was underpowered. He simply wanted to discuss your points and how he thinks that your reasoning is off in spite of your conclusions (strong or otherwise):

  1. You compared Yasuo primarily to 2 assassins multiple times. Since you didn't specify otherwise, it was safe to assume you thought he was an assassin given the comparisons. We all agree now that he is in fact not an assassin.

  2. I agree with the arguments he presented: To clarify, I believe Yasuo is VERY underpowered and over hyped, but your reasons are off for the most part.

So why is Yasuo weak? Well, in my opinion, even last season, Yasuo was not a strong champion. Unless you were a Yasuo one trick who was god like with his mechanics, you were lucky to hold around a 50% win rate. 50% is about where he was last season. Overall, seemed balanced. But this pre-season has really hurt him with its changes:

1- Fervor of Battle- feel like this is a dead horse being beaten again... but this keystone is what allowed Yasuo to have any kind of fighting power early while still being able to take full attack speed runes in Quints and Marks. Which is point number 2.

2- 29% attack speed in runes, 4% in masteries- 33% AS level 1. Yasuo gets with the preseason a whopping 22%(?) I think now? If he goes precision (RIOT gave him a 4% attack speed increase at level 1). That is a significant level 1 drop. In combination with the loss of Fervor ad bonus and the ever so slightly increased cooldown on his Q (scales with attack speed right?) Yasuo lost a TON of his early game power.

Now, some might say, thats not so bad right? I mean, Yasuo is a late game hyper carry right? I agree, except for the fact that:

  1. Games are snowballing very quickly right now. Last I checked, average game time is around 30 min. Maybe a few seconds less? Not sure.

  2. Tanks, who would normally be a good matchup for Yasuo, do TONS of damage right now. A lot of this has to do with the loss of flat MR people usually had on them. Most tanks deal primarily magic damage.

  3. There is not a great Keystone for Yasuo as of yet. Press the attack is no replacement for Fervor of Battle.

I could expound more, but I have to go for now. XD

A post complaining that yasuo is garbage instead of op? Is this real life

yes. are you unaware of how weak he is, unless fed? he is a champ that hits a spike at like 4 complete items.

Yasuo isn't an assassin, he's a melee adc so it's normal that he doesn't burst you down. Yasuo is really safe thanks to his shield and his W (if you aren't a monkey, personnally I don't play / know how to play him). Yasuo get 100% crit from 2 items and has a knock up and can have a synergy with almost every champ in the game with his ult.

Assassins are safer and have better/more reliable (can't be dodged) damage and mobility. They don't need minions or enemies nearby to reach their victims, and the safety abilities that assassins get are better and have shorter cooldowns. Yasuo's windwall can only block projectiles and auto attacks and has a REALLY long cooldown. Fizz's playful can dodge EVERYTHING and has a super short cooldown after he gets his cdr. Also, unlike Yasuo, assassins actually have decent base hp. And, unlike Yasuo, assassins don't need 2 expensive crit items to have decent damage. Assassins (and other melee champs in general) are better in every possible way and you know it.

You keep comparing Yasuo to assassins dude. They aren't the same class, it'd be the same to compare Darius to Caitlyn in term of kiting and self peel. I agree that Yasuo is in a bad spot right now (no runes really fit him, Press the attack isn't that good), but don't compare 2 differents classes. I also agree that lethality (more like duskblade) is busted, but once again, don't compare them. Also, Yasuo can still get decent damage with Phantom dancer only, and also a good damage reduction from it + movement speed and attack speed (hence reducing his Q cd). It's completly normal that hiw Wind wall has a high CD, it can block ultimates and rewards good players for using it, while punishing bad players for randomly using it (against the midlaner autoattacks for instance). You also talked about his mobility, well his E has a really low CD, almost inexistant and can be used up to 7 times in lane (minions + enemy champions, even 8 if the jungler ganks). I can't really tell that "Yasuo isn't mobile" here.

As I said, Yasuo is in a bad spot but it's not because of his kit, it's because of the new runes

Who the hell are you to tell me what I can and can't do? I'll compare him to whoever I want. They're all mid lane champs, so yea I'll compare a mid laner to other mid laners. And I never said he was an assassin btw.

Sona and Leona are both played botlane as a support. Do they play the same role during the game ?

I guess you can compare Ardent Janna to Tanksuo. They both have shields, so yeah, you'll compare a champion with a shield to another champion with a shield.

Yasuo is op at his 47-48% winrate XD
