How have so many people gotten to high Plat/low Diamond never playing support?

Every other game I'm getting an autofilled support who instantly tilts off the face of the earth. If nobody wants to swap with them then their attitude carries over to the game and I can almost always expect them to feed, or just be whiny all game about something or other

So I'm just wondering, how the hell did you avoid support entirely when we didn't have pick preference? If you didn't play back that far, how have you not even tried the role?

What the hell is going on?

Honestly, I played the majority of my ranked games before autofill really became an issue this season. Afterwards, I just played occasionally to avoid decay and dodged whenever I was autofilled (since I was only planning to play one ranked game that week anyways).

I played support when necessary in previous seasons when everyone was expected to cover all roles and handled it fine. Hell, I don't mind playing support on occasion (and even enjoy it) whenever I know my ADC isn't autofilled into the role.

However, the possibility the enemy bottom lane is pre-made in their main roles is sufficient motivation for me to avoid it during ranked play.

I'm jg main, heavily. In season 5, I used to be sup secondary (so if I don't get jg, usually team will let me sup, jg being second least popular role back then helped too), and that worked well. If I'm not jg, I like other roles about equally, so sup secondary was best.

In season 6 jg/sup was no longer possible since I'd be supporting all the time. Which means I never queued up for sup (I became jg/mid instead, that way I could still play mostly jungler, and was OK mid). Which means I never played support in season 5. Which means I am no longer competent at support at plat ELO due to lack of practice, simple as that. This is one mechanism as to why someone in plat might not be able to play support well. Does that answer your question?

Back when you didn't chose you had more options.

  1. You could dodge those games that were unfavorable, getting plat was in getting the most ammount of games played in the lowest time possible, dodging penalties were really soft so you could dodge consecutively.
  2. You had also more lanes available instead of just the one, for example if you were 3rd pick you had 3 available roles for you, and the topon top of you could or could have not gotten on your pick. You were last pick and stuck with support, you dodged.
  3. You could assume it was a lost game and move on, this is the only current option with autofill

He was asking "How have so many people gotten to high Plat/low Diamond never playing support?" and that is how it was done. You also surrender any game that was 50/50 chance of winning to avoid tilting and to squish one more game into the mix.

They have supported, probably a lot.

They just have fragile af egos and need to carry to exert dominance over their team.

IDK about high ELO, but out of my last 6 ranked games, i played jungle 2 times, support 2 times, and got jungle 2 times, but swapped with the support because he was auto filled. (and frankly id rather support than have an autofilled lux "support".)

I think it's because of the general idea that supports can't carry and everyone has the desire to carry the game.

I've played like 30 games since the patch and I haven't been autofilled yet. I always end up with Jungle.
