I will admit that though I have actually come back and won from games like this....
Those were dark, long games....
Games I would not like to relive...
So although there is always the chance of victory....
You must also ask yourself....
Is it even worth it?
Leave the never surrender mentality in Yolo Queue. I play normals to have fun. Having a game drag on for forty minutes instead of twenty because there's a 2% chance we can win even though we haven't taken a single tower, and we're down 3000 gold and 20 kills IS NOT FUN.
One of my most prominent examples of this kind of game was one where we won from over 40 kills behind. It was with a 5 man group and two of our friends didn't want to surrender despite them being the ones who fed the hardest. We won that game, but it was stressful and time consuming. I would rather have surrendered and started another rather than playing 40 minutes in a long desperate struggle. I was glad when won, and it was pretty satisfying to win, but I can't say the game itself was very enjoyable for most of that hour long game.
I'd had something similar. I was playing
, and my team wasn't do very well. We'd lost all inhibitor towers and one nexus tower, their enemy team was quite powerful and had proven to be capable of winning in teamfights. So me, being the bitch-ass Teemo main I am/was (not as good as him as I was before), I then transformed our broken base into a fucking minefield deadlier than the North Korean DMZ. My team would go out, start to lose ground, and as they retreated back into base, I had quite the hell of a trap waiting for the enemy team. We ended up completely stagnating the game for nearly an hour and a half before we finally aced them and destroyed their nexus. It was one of the most brutal games I'd ever played, but at the same time it was also one of the sweetest victories I'd ever experienced.
Then Teemo's AP ratio on his shrooms got nerfed...
Maybe not fun for you, but who are you to decide what's fun for others xD
I don't want to hear that from a cosmic gamer who plays with people's lives. You could've saved Rachel.
i play normals to have fun too repeling enemy sieges and looking at them struggle to simply finish the game is fun hearing babies cry that you dont want to surr is another story
^ That's what I've been trying to explain. In Ranked sure. There is always a chance to win, but in normals. I could care less. It's a fucking normal. I don't want to drag it out just to have a possible chance of winning and/or getting better.
I'm fine with a game being 40 minutes, and I've played games that lasted well over an hour. But I agree, if you're only keeping the game alive barely by staying at your inner turrets all day pushing back minion waves, that's different and I would prefer to surrender. However if both teams are doing well and the game is really close, I'd be totally fine if it even lasted 2 hours.
It's not optimism. It's learning.
Even if I know I'm going to lose I don't surrender. Why even give up before the game is completely lost? Even if nothing good happens and it's just more stomping, I can easily learn from it. Just like in Chess, you don't give up until your King is checkmated.
Even if that one particular game is not winnable you will likely learn something from that hard loss that will prevent a hard loss in the future. Or you could just blame other people and demand they give up because you aren't having fun. Selfish as fuck tho.
I always say No because you learn nothing from quitting. Even if it's a complete stomp, I need to learn how to deal with that stage of the game eventually. Even if there is literally 0 chance of winning.
I got this mentality from being homeless for a while. I could have just killed myself and been done with it. Surrendering to Death, but I decided to keep going and even tho I didn't really win or achieve anything from not quitting, I learned how to cope with that level of failure or loss.
TLDR: If you are playing only to Win, don't play.

Life and League are 2 different scenarios. Nobody should try to quit life, but if you're in a game that's going to take a really long time to win, and nobody is having fun, but you. Then you should surrender, so everyone can quit and do something they want to.

They aren't different.
Life is in itself a game.
So you only play League to have fun? Why play it all? Not every single moment of the game is going to be fun, just like every experience in life. If you want to have fun all the time don't play a competitive game where you can't be stomped completely around 50% of the time.

Life isn't a game. Theoretically yes it is a game, because life doesn't have a purpose other than to live, but nobody wants to wait in a game, where they're losing 30-0. When they could be doing something else in life. Such as homework, or going out with gf, etc. That would be like saying if life is just a game why not kill yourself and start over?

Lmao
Keep telling yourself it isn't so you can justify quitting and laziness.
You want to play and have fun and win but you refuse to accept the reality of your loss and see it to the end. You only want things the way you want them and nothing else. You just want to have "fun" but only your specific definition of fun, nobody else matters. Good job man.
You have no idea what I've been through you arrogant ass hole. I work constantly you have no right to judge anybody without knowing them. I'm talking about a sense in a video game, where nobody wants to try, because everybody is so far behind, but some duo comes in and keeps saying no, because they can win, nobody else wants to play.

Who cares? It's a team game. If you don't want the game to be "ruined" by other people only play with premades or just don't play.
If you don't want to try when things go bad, don't play. You can keep throwing out the fallacy of equivocation and being semantic, but you will always be wrong.
Dude, you can keep saying it isn't real life despite it being played by people with other people for 40 minutes on average. You can also keep arguing with proven psychology that says your choices and mentality in life reflect in games and vice versa. That's your choice bruh.
IT doesn't matter if it's a game or not. You are still playing it, using the exact same mental processes you use for literally everything else. Chances are if you can't handle uncomfortable situations in a video game you can't handle them in Life.
I don't have the right to play the game I play for fun, because I dislike playing games that are nearly impossible to win. That's what you said to me.
I never said I wouldn't try, I said I don't want to try. I keep going if they say no, but it's a huge waste of time. I don't purposely throw games, because I don't want to play.
It's not real life. It's a video game. What makes you think it's real life? I don't remember arguing with psychology about how our choices affect my game. I think if I'm a toxic ass hole in real life. I will be in game, simply because I am a person playing that game, and I make choices on how I treat my team mates. I never argued with that.
Hmm... Lets take this in real life terms. You go to a park... You're forced to do something you don't want to, and other's agree with you. They don't want to do it either, but their are those 2 guys. That force everybody else to do it, even though nobody else wants to. See the problem? That doesn't happen in real life. Anybody can leave when they don't want to. In League you're forced to play a game that only 2 other people want to play. Forcing 3 other people into a situation that they don't want to be in.

I said that if you refuse to see game until the end because it's not fun, why even play it to have fun to begin with? You don't get one side of the coin without the other. Sure you can still do it, I never claimed you don't have the right to.
Like I said, you keep throwing semantics into this. "its just a video game so my choices and decisions don't matter" Do you even realize what you are saying?
Your scenario is biased. If you signed up for a community event that had 5 games and you liked 3 of the 5, and you wanted to end the event early because you weren't having fun anymore, people would call you selfish wouldn't they? It's the exact same scenario here, except throw in competitive. Even if its a normal the game is still competitive.
YOU SINGED UP FOR IT. Whenever you go into a Game you sign up for whatever happens. Someone AFKs? you have to deal with it. You stomp the other team? They have to deal with it. You get stomped? you have to deal with it. It's what you signed up for. It is ludicrous that you expect to only get the good parts and not the bad and want an easy way out just because you want to have fun "in a video game"
There are much better video games out there for pure fun.** League isn't just about fun, even if its a video game its an esport. Sports arent all about fun. Ask any Basketball player and they will tell you that even losing is fun because they enjoy the game and know how to learn from failure. **
Nobody is supposed to know the outcome of the game. That's the point. If I knew I was going to lose games in a ranked if I played that, or if anybody knew? Don't you think they'd just dodge?
Where?
You'd know what you're getting into then. I'm sure a community event would say something like. "You must play all 5 matches. Or you'll be disqualified, and banned from future events." I'm saying in real life. If people don't want to play a game. They can just leave, and the others can continue playing, but Riot has Leaver Buster to prevent that, so they got the majority rules thing for surrender. Except it's exploited by duo queue trolls, and extremely optimistic people.
You're scenario makes sense. 1 person can't end an event. That would be extremely dumb if that's how surrender votes worked. 1 person votes to surrender ending the whole game. Making the majority of the other votes not count.

You want to have fun but you don't want to be miserable. You want to win but you don't want to lose. You want to eat but you don't want to shit.
You can't have 1 without the other bruh
You want what you want but not what others want, and call them selfish for going against what you want.
Even if a majority wanted to end the event, its already set in motion and paid for so 9/10 times it'll go thru all planned parts. **Thats how everything works no matter what title you give it. Whether it be Game, Life, Event etc., Its all the same thing. You cant just slap on a synonym and expect the entire meaning to change. **
Thats my entire point bruh
Actually having fun without being miserable is a possibility. You can win without losing too. Surrendering is losing. I don't think you understand my point. I don't care about losing. I don't want to get fucking stomped for 20 minutes. I never said I didn't want to shit.
Yes you can. The eating without shitting one is biased though.
3 vs. 2 surrender vote is pretty selfish, if nobody else wants to play. Because 3 don't want to play and 2 do want to.
Events are planned. League is not. if 9/10 people don't want to do the event then fine. The last person can do the event by himself. But you can count me, and my other friends out.
However, if League had a system such as. 1st person quits. Gets a 30 minute ban increasing to 30min/1hr/2hr/1day/3day/1week/2week/1month. And anybody else who leaves after that doesn't get a penalty then I think it would work. The 2 guys who want to play can. The others may quit if wanted. Helping both sides of people who want to play. That's the point I'm trying to tell you. You can't get both in real life. I'm sorry it's not how it works. 2 guys shouldn't be able to drag you into a situation you don't want to be in.

Just because more people want something doesn't mean they should get it.
3 people wanting to quit and 2 people refusing to quit is not a fair example. Its a game of 5 people, 2 of that 5 want to see it to the end for whatever reason and no doubt the 3 just want what they want and aren't up for discussion of it. They will flame and hate until the other 2 decide to do what the 3 want. Especially when those 3 have shown that they refuse to play the game they signed up for because it didn't go the way they wanted.
Yet here you are saying that the lesser should be able to force the majority into a situation they don't want.
If the 3 refuse to play/afk. Report them simple as that.
I don't think the majority should get what they want. I think EVERYONE should get what they want. That's why you can leave a game in progress. Should it get reported? Yes. Will he get banned? Maybe, but the thing with Riot's system is. Only the majority get to do what they want (and the occasional minority due to 3v2 surrender vote.) I wish the other 2 didn't have to quit the game they maybe wanted to play, but that's why you can just play a new game, and that's the thing about life. You can't just kill yourself, and be like let's start a new one. In League you can. You can surrender and play a new one. You're only saying no, because you want to play the game right? Why the fuck just not surrender to make the other's happy, and play a new one, doesn't that make everybody win?
It is literally impossible to give everyone what they want. Read a fucking political science book or any fucking history book.
Surrendering shouldn't even be an option. It would force people to not tilt so hard demanding an easy out and actually play the fucking game they signed up to play by hitting the Queue button.

They don't enjoy losing. They enjoy playing. They simply play the whole game, because their is always a chance to win, and it's extremely competitive. That right there is biased to the whole competitive scene of League. What about the normal side?
I play League, because I enjoy games that can be close calls, and of course I can be competitive, but in the end it's just a game. I don't need to get my ass stomped by another team for 30 minutes, to know my mistakes, and why we lost.
I do think it's rude to quit a game you haven't lost yet, that's why their is surrendering. If I think a game is definitely winnable...
e.g. Enemy team up 5 kills, 2 turrets, and we have an afk. But we also have a Nasus with 700+ stacks. Winnable. Why? Because we have great late game scaling, and we're not down too far.
That I understand is winnable, but a game where I'm down 30 kills, 3 dragons, 5 turrets, I simply don't want to finish that match, because I'm expecting the outcome to be a loss. If you enjoy playing the whole game including the parts where you spawn, die, respawn, die. Go ahead nobody is stopping you, but you're stopping everybody else from enjoyment. I understand that surrendering stops you from playing that game, but what's the difference of just starting up a new game, and playing that one?
This is my final post, I don't want to argue with you anymore, I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall. I understand your point of view, but I just wish you could understand mine.
I read ...everything... and i understand your point , but i prefer the other point of view , i understand that if YOU dont have any fun in that game you want to leave , but damn ...for what? to start a new game and expect to win easy? to have a fair match? ok ...
im here to have fun and LEARN thing that could help me in hardest game i will play in ranked , i win a couple of game that we lose 40-10 in kills and didnt take any tower while enemy reach our nexus !! 2 inhib down , 2 nexus tower down ! COMPLETLY stomped! BUT the enemy team was over too much confident , and start going greedy alot !and then we take them down 1 by 1 , and yeah the game could have stop at 20 , but we win at like around 55min , so this isnt the fun you want? Like you said , you want to win and lose , but have fun . but come back in that kind of game is the most beautifull thing i can ever feel in league !
I even lose that kind of game , after a big losing start , then come back and then lose in the last moment of a 50+ min game ! Ok frustrating a bit , but my god this game can be so freaking intense ! And thats the thing i wanna feel when i play a game !
Dont want to play a boring game ! Yeah its fun to win , but there is no feeling ... so finally its only a boring game , even if you win .
So what you really want is to waste some time in front of your computer ! You tell him that when you know its a waste of time you want to surrender and then start a new one .
So this is your kind of day. -win -win -lose(surrender) -win -win -lose close game , you are frustrated to just waste some time and leave for today .
My kind of day -win -lose close game , while 3 of teamate wanted to surrender at 20 , make a come back and lose in 50 . -lose -win , by a little come back , after starting a game losing 3-10 while again 3 teamate wanted to surrender . -win Stop playing for today ! Learning alot !
anyway ... you learning alot more in hard lose than in easy win . and learning is what makes you alot better !
and by the way I HATE winning an easy game when the enemy team surrender after 20 ! Thats freaking frustrating ! So i never surrender !
I don't surrender in Ranked. Never, for the fact that I am usually getting better when I'm playing, but I've surrendered normals, because I feel like people are more toxic when playing normals, and I usually just have a bunch of people yelling at each other. Like the other day I had an Anivia Yasuo bot who went 0/6 and 1/7 in laning phase. I told them to stop letting their ADC roam and killing me when I'm jungling. They told me to "shut the fuck up, and stop bitching." Do you honestly think I want to even play at that point? We lost of course, but it made it so much worse that we couldn't surrender.
Thats not the point of this conversation , but YEAH you right ! This is the only time i really surrender ! When maybe around 3 people yelling at each other for nothing and when i really try to calm the team , and then they just yell at me and screaming like shut the fuck up too ..lol so yeah i surrender , but if my team ire not freaking retarded like that , for me its still fun to play even when we get stumped ! ;)

If you look at the minimap, literally all the enemy needed to do at that point was push down the midlane to win; and I expect they were far ahead enough to do so with one final teamfight (maybe not even that). It's at the point in the game where you've pretty much already learned what you need to learn (what type of decisions got me and my team to this point? How can they be rectified next time?); five minutes or so of wave clearing super minions at your nexus while the enemy team takes baron and begins the game ending push doesn't really teach you anything that you haven't already learned from a minimum of 20 minutes of being stomped.

How do you know you learned all you will learn until you learn it?
Do you just quit in a Chess match when you know you lost already? No. You keep going even when you lose so you can learn from it.
Prof. Chess players will quit if they know that they lost. They can plan out all the moves they and the enemy will do. Maybe new players might not quit, if they want to. But good players will.

Are you a pro? No.
Do you make business decisions based on what Trump does or what every other business person that is more at your level does?
I don't need to be a pro to know when a game is unwinnable. Newbie Chess vs GM. Man I wonder who will win? Could it be the person who is literally a pro chess player? or the new guy?
Of course I wouldn't, because I have an opinion on how I think I should run my own business. If 5 kids jumped off a cliff. I wouldn't be one of them.

"I don't do things unless I want to do them and if people go against me they are selfish"
That's the vibe I get from you
Why even fucking play Chess or any game or do fucking anything if you aren't prepared for both the positive and negative outcomes? It makes no fucking sense.
I want to eat this pizza but I don't want to get fat. Why can't I opt out of this. FFS
I want to play LoL but I don't want to lose. FFS Riot
Not the people that go against me. The people that drag me into stuff I don't want to are selfish.
Your vibe is about as good as your debating skills.
I'm prepared, but if some guy in chess was like I win you lose. I'd surrender, but then he goes no you have to play. You have to finish the game, and forced me to fucking play a game I don't want to. Damn straight I think that's selfish. He can find somebody else to play with. I don't want to play with a guy who's destroying me.
I can eat pizza and workout. See look how I figured it out. Now I won't be fat, and I can eat my favorite food. I'm not gonna call a fucking pizza selfish if it makes me fat if that's what you're gonna say.
I don't mind losing, but I do mind getting stomped, and not being able to quit. I understand getting stomped is a possibility, but nobody fucking wants it to happen to them, and 2 people that force everyone to get stomped is stupid.
also you get more ip if you dont surrender
also you get more ip if you dont surrender
I have like 40k IP. I could care less. I'm still losing lp if we lose now from surrendering, or waste another 20 minutes till the enemy realizes they can just end the game.
Not everyone has 5 ip or time to waste. Some of us have x hours a day we can play, and don't want to waste most of that waiting on some randos refusing to quit because "reasons".
I am one of those who has x hours a day we can play. I still prefer to never surrender, as it only takes 1 mistake in a teamfight to turn things around, you ace and go for the win. that has happened to me so many times.

TLDR: If you are playing only to Win, don't play.
You save time to learn in other games more likely to produce results. You don't learn anything at the point he is at. It's just a textbook faceroll from there on out.
All you learn from losing a game 13K gold down is that you can't afford to let it get there in the first place.
Based on these comments, 70% of the LoL community is angry teenage guys possessed by the restless spirits of Samurai who died dishonorably and now seek to restore their honor by playing a video game as intensely as you'd fight for your country.
It's mostly just me getting somewhat irritated with the guy who called me lazy, because I want to surrender a game I'm 0/6 in.
What was the rest of your team doing? If there are 2 that are 10/2 and 9/0 while you are 0/6, hop on their shoulders and enjoy the ride. Never surrender just because you aren't doing the lifting.
and yet i despise you people who 4/1 a surrender vote when all we need is 1 decent teamfight to get somewhere and we can do it too.
I hate that too, but that game literally looked unwinnable. I had a game like that when I was Nasus with 700+ stacks. Pretty fucking troll when they all surrendered. Our mid inhib and outer turrets were the only thing that was gone.
Do you realise that some people just don't want to surrender, even if they know it's lost? I'm one of them. NEVER SURRENDER, WE'LL LOSE IN HONOR!
I say no because I'm not going to deprive my enemy of a hard earned victory.
Well, that's a nice and believable reason for why I NEVER SURRENDER!
I only surrender games that I feel like it's going to make everybody on tilt, and people are flaming, and everybody is mad at each other. No reason to keep playing if the enemy is being such an ass hat that they won't even end the game.
At that point, be a gentleman and let the enemy win by fighting, nothing less cool than surrender before the "final battle" after a long game.
did u win?
If you look closely, below Irelia's minimap icon is Katarina's icon. It uses her old splash art.
The game depicted on the image is therefore very old.
I'm guessing that the game in the image might not even be OP playing.
