Can you be punished if someone reports you if they "think" you're trolling ?

I just played a game and as is typical of my games, my entire team feeds out the ass. Normally I'd afk but I recently got a LeaveBuster due to doing this once too often in games like this. I knew from experience that calling for surrender is a waste of time since feeders always believe that they can win for whatever reason. Left with no choice I decided to do the only viable thing I could do, I started aggressively farming. I was Shyvana in the jungle so I started farming like crazy and stopped ganking. My thinking was that I needed to be as efficient as possible. I could not waste any time not getting gold. I was attempting to make use of every second I had getting gold in the hopes of getting strong enough to turn it around. I know, it's a pipe dream. This isn't season 5 where this would have worked but like I said, I had no choice. I couldn't afk or call for a surrender so I tried the only thing left to me to me that had the only chance, even if near non-existent chance, of turning the game around.

Now, due to all the feeding, I quickly looked around and found that everyone on the enemy team was at most 2 levels and several items ahead of me and I knew, unlike my team who kept dying over and over again, that there's no way I could fight them so I avoided fights and only went to lanes to take farm when one of my team mates left or they died. Like I said I was trying to farm up some kind of lead. I read all their chat where they said I was useless and a whole bunch of other shit. The called for me to be reported and after the game one of them, our 0-5 mid laner said he reported me.

My question, will I be punished if this kind of thing happens often ? The incidents with the Singed and the Nunu only got attention because of the massive amounts of reports. Can the same thing happen to me ?

This pessimistic view that it's all your team's fault and they are always feeders and the game is lost may be a factor in why you can't climb. I recommend tossing that mindset aside the best you can and just focus on what you can do despite setbacks. Farming instead of fighting when behind is typically the better option, just mute people that harass you, it doesn't help anyone.

I'll never claim I can't climb. I climbed from the depths of B5 to S5 last season. I just don't waste my time with garbage teams is all. I did it last season too and still managed to reach as far as Silver 3 promos from Bronze 5. The thing with me is that I know which games are lost. Not all games where we have a bad start is a loss, but if I have a team where all lanes are feeding hard, I accept that as a loss.

i stopped reading at normally i afk

Why did you feel the need to tell me this ? If you stopped reading at that, good for you. I don't need to know that. Just don't bother saying anything. What's the point of posting saying you didn't read it ?

No, dont worry theres nothing they can report you on. You werent intentially feeding, you didnt afk, and i assume you didnt flame so dont worry the report will mean nothing. Yes i see this happen sometimes, and i dont completely agree with your midset but i understand why you did it.

next time you should A) tell your team what your doing and if you split push let them know they cant fight until someone comes for you. or B) farm until the enemy pushes to a tower and then help them

but like u said the game is usually over anyways and not much of a chance for coming back. Dont worry about the reports tho

Nah I didn't flame. Only thing I said was that I was muting everyone which I did but eventually unmuted just to see what was the general consensus about the game. Aside from that I said nothing at all.

As we can clearly see from the Take the Draw case and the singed case prior to that, yes, you can indeed be falsely reported and banned for "trolling".

Fortunately riot rescinded both of those bans and has realized that empowering trolls and children to falsely report and harm others is bad for the health of the game and the community. Well, at lest in those specific cases riot is aware it's bad for us all. They still leave toxic players in power in many other types of situations, but there's only so much the player base appears willing to do to ensure Riot acts in a moral and ethical manner to enforce that players also act in a moral and ethical manner.

Ah...Thx. Kind of answer I was looking for.

Stay in bronze please. You always reach late game in low elo so I don't get why you are complaining about balance ruining your games.

FioraWillCarry1 votes

Can you even read bro ? Who's talking about balance ? Quote the part of the OP where I talk about balance ? If you want to talk out your ass, please do it in another thread. I just asked if I could be punished for power farming. Very simple. Where's your brain mate ?

"This isn't season 5 where that would have worked, but like I said, I had no choice." That definitely implies you aren't being favored by the meta, and I assumed by your attitude, that you think balance in League right now is shit.

I can most definitely read, and that seems a bit hypocritical of you since you happen to write a question and then put the question mark a space away.

The perfection that was Season 5 had nothing to do with balance which I would define as the relative difference in power between champions.

While I can't remember every single tiny little change between season 5 and now, I can remember the important ones. Firstly, there was less gold over all on the map. Minions gave less gold. So did the jungle. Towers were stronger and even had a kind of shield. Death timers on average were shorter. There was no first blood tower. These things resulted in a steady game pace where even if you had 3 feeders, there was still a very realistic chance of coming back. I've won many many games when we started with shit like 3-19 with everyone feeding. I've won 4v5s, many of them as well. Today in season 7, is what I call the avalanche season. Every game feels like an avalanche and you always hope your team is the one doing the steamrolling. There really is very little you can do if your team starts feeding their asses off in season 7. Also, pray you never get an afk in season 7 games. It's a sure loss. There's no winning a 4v5 at all if someone on your team gets a power outage. Every game in season 5 was fun, even games where you had feeders because you felt like you had options. You could power farm or you could focus on anti-siege tactics. These things don't work today. I don't want to waste the time playing out such games anymore.

You know that you just admitted that you incorporated balance into your question. You described how Season 5 was the better season and you use it as an excuse for just giving up.

I agree that season 7 was worse than season 5 in terms of fun, but what I don't agree with is you giving up right when teammates start feeding. Season 7 is actually not a bad season, in my opinion at least. I'm in low elo as well, but the games are what I wanted them to be. Teams that get leads usually get objectives with the right composition, but there is room for coming back and winning the game. The only things I hate about this season are mage supports and those huge early game lethality abusers (Pantheon Talon Jayce).

In addition, afks do ruin games even though I just won a 4 vs 5 against a Platinum 5 in URF easily. However, that's how the game is meant to be. Back in season 5, you could just pick late game champions and whoever won duels and teamfights the best won. There wasn't much skill involved besides just landing your combo. It was that bad to the point where you could win 4 vs 5's if you had a better late game composition and your chances were like 60-40 depending on your elo. This is how games were supposed to be:

  • A 5 vs 5 where the better team wins with the proper composition.
  • People who used their leads would win, and people who would punish mistakes and used that as an opportunity to advance would win.

As per to your report question, you probably won't be punished, but if you were reported for not communicating with your team about your purposes, then it might stick. If you told them to farm it out, and stop feeding, then the report won't stick.

With all honesty, you could be punished. Who even said that farming 24/7 is efficient? While you were farming the enemy jungler was ganking and helping his team get kills and take objectives like dragon/towers. If you believed your team was losing then you should be helping them instead of going afk or farming all by yourself. When will people understand that winning is a team effort and this is a damn MOBA. Your afk behavior as you stated can never be justified and just like you everyone in your team also wanted to win. Maybe the enemy team played better than your team or maybe some of you allies misplayed as you can't really call that intentional feeding.

FioraWillCarry1 votes

I never said they intentionally fed.

While you were farming the enemy jungler was ganking and helping his team get kills and take objectives like dragon/towers.

My team were all idiots. Total fuckin noobshits. I did gank, multiple times. I remember ganking bot lane while they pushed up my bot lane against their tower. It was as perfect a gank as one could ever get. No way at all they could escape. I had my ult and they were all the way up under my bot lane's tower with me coming up from behind. I ping multiple times. So much so that no one could mistake where I was. My bot lane had enough HP that all they had to do was engage, or fuck, even fake an engage. It was such a perfect rape waiting to happen. After pinging for the millionth time that I was there, all the had to do was engage and get them to go in and blow their cooldowns. Easy double. The didn't. They instead ran and I almost died having to face them 2v1. A very similar thing happened when I ganked mid lane. I was done with ganking after that. I'm not joking when I tell you this team was fuckin terrible. After seeing how they fucked up such simple plays that could have made a big difference, it was no surprise to me at all that they fed out their asses non-stop. They were that bad. I mean real real fuckin bad. The mid laner who was flaming me all game, he actually walked into the enemy team 1v3 multiple times and died, blaming me all the while.

Me power farming was the only thing I could do mate. My team mates were real, rare types of rotten dog shit, pure fuckin garbage. Utter trash. I just didn't know what else to do. If you think I should be punished for that....well fuck. So be it. I'll be done with this game the day that happens.

Your afk behavior as you stated can never be justified and just like you everyone in your team also wanted to win.

Fuck that. It is justified. How the fuck can a team seriously want to feed more than 1 kill per minute and talk about wanting to win. No no no no. I'll afk anytime they don't surrender. This isn't season 5 where you could have 2 or more hardcore feeders and still win.

sobi9991 votes

I won't be a biatch like everyone usually is in these forums. I will say though that if your team is feeding and you know there is no way of winning. On the top they won't surrender then just do what they are doing. If they are roaming alone and you think they are likely to get 2v1 ganked, join the ally. Try to take objectives like dragon/turrets while your team mates are doing 5v4 lul. I mean if u keep on dying you still wouldn't be able to win by just afk'ing and trust me that way you will get punished. So instead of saving time by afk'ing you might end up waiting longer i.e. bans etc. Ik you want to surrender so you could come back the next game but i'd say it again, afk'ing or purposely not helping the team and acting like a solo player can get you in trouble. I have had many instances where my whole team sucked so bad that i knew from the bat that we will lose (i am generally the last person to vote surrender) lul. All i did was to try and keep explaining my team to group and be nice. If they listen (if your nice they most likely will) and we get dominated in a team fight. They will surrender instead of you. If you flame them and they die because you weren't in a fight so it was 4v5. They will simply blame you and refuse to surrender. Either way, being nice is always favorable to you and your team.
